Home Security System reviews in Circleville

Ultimate Technology & Security Solutions, LLC
We made an appointment and they came real quick. They already submitted a quote but I haven't seen it yet. They came here in uniform and I think they were father and son. They also seem to have good reviews on Angie's List.

This was a great experience.  Blain arrived on time for first review and went through house with me to make suggestions and recommendations.  Did not try to sell something not needed.  Very professional and courteous throughout all contacts.
We made decision to go with this company and arranged for installation.  Blain called to say that could be here early if ok with was.  Installation was quick and easy.  Review of system was well done and easy to understand.  My wife was not home so she had some questions later that I could not answer. All questions responded to quickly and professionally.

    ADT Security Services Inc
I had a bad experience with Protect Your Home which is not a direct ADT company, but is an authorized dealer on 7/28/2011.  My report for that experience is also on Angie's List.
My experience with ADT Security Services located on O'Brien Rd. in Columbus was a great experience.  On approximately July 25, 2011 I met ADT representative Chris Perry at my fiance's place of business.  Chris was there to discuss upgrades and new installations to an ADT system installed at my fiance's business.  I found Chris to be very knowledgable about ADT security systems and I was impressed by his professionalism and courteous manner.  My fiance' is deaf and Chris did whatever he needed to do to make sure my fiance' understood all discussion, this included repeating information several times if needed.  On 7/28 I had an appointment to have a ADT system installed in my home.  At the time I scheduled the appointment, I was not aware that the company was an authorized dealer of ADT, but not a direct ADT organization.  I won't go into detail, but the appointment did not go well.  I felt pressured to buy products I did not want and the installer used scare tatics.  I came to feel very upset and uncomfortable and decided to contact Chris Perry because he had made me feel very comfortable when I previously had met him.  I really wanted his advice because I had decided I did not feel comfortable proceeding with the installation and I knew I did not want to have further contact with the installer or anyone associated with that particular dealer on things such as future service calls/new installations.  Chris informed me that it was my right to cancel the installation and ask the installer to leave my home.  I told Chris that the installer's supervisor had informed me on an earlier phone call that I would be responsible for the payment I had already paid at the time of setting up the installation date and depending on how long the installer had been at my home I may have to pay an additional fee.  Chris knew that I was upset and let me know that he would look into getting whatever money I had paid back for me and he said he would try to get an installer out the next day to install the system I wanted.  When I spoke to Chris it was late afternoon and he called me first thing the next morning to let me know he was still working on getting someone out to my house.  By that afternoon, Chris had arranged for installers to come to my house and install the system.  The installers, Mike James and Tom Morris arrived and from the time they entered my house until the time they left they were nothing but professional and courteous.  The difference from the experience the day before was unbelievable.  They installed the basic system that I wanted, they never made me feel pressured to purchase items I did not want/could not afford at the time, answered all questions, and thoroughly made sure I and my fiance' understood everything.  Again, both installers, took great pains to make sure my fiance' who is deaf understood everything.  The installers were so courteous and professional I would have gladly gave them a tip, but they declined.  I would like to stress that overall I believe ADT is a reputable company and within any large organization there are always a few "bad apples".  My experience with the two dealers proved this to me.  I would not hesitate to use the services of ADT and I would just tell you that if you have a positive experience to let others and if you have an unpleasant experience to let ADT know that as well.

    Protect Your Home
On 7/25/2011 I contacted ADT using a phone number provided on an ADT newspaper insert.  The rep I spoke to was friendly and helpful.  I told her I was interested in the basic home alarm system that would cost me 84.74 and I okayed her to charge this amount to my VISA.  She told me that there would be no other charges unless I decided to purchase additional items.  This offer included front and back door sensors,1 motion detector, keypad, and control panel.  She also included in that price 3 basic window sensors. On 7/28/2011 ADT installer Brian Baumberger came to install the system.  I did not know upon his arrival or when I commited on the phone to purchasing the system that he did not work for a direct ADT dealer but for a business called Protect Your Home.  Mr.  Baumberger did a walk-thru of my home and then proceeded to install the keypad and install a tie-in into the phone line of my home.  After completing these installations, Mr. Baumberger asked me to come to my kitchen table where he had displayed items including a heat sensor, a smoke alarm, boxes labeled basement windows, and various labels for rooms throughout my house.  Mr. Baumberger gave me information about the items and then his recommendations.  He recommended not using the basic sensors at all that were included in the price I paid but instead upgrade to a more expensive and in his opinion better sensor.  I asked if the basic sensors were no good why ADT would offer them and he had no reply.  I made it very clear that at this time I only wanted the basic system installed and told him that there may come a time I may want to upgrade or add options but at this time financially I was only able to install the basic system.  This seemed to aggravate/disappoint Mr. Baumberger and he made a comment that by not paying just a little extra money I would not have the peace of mind and safety I could have.  He also told a story about a home that had only the basic system and a man broke in and murdered the family.  Mr.  Baumberger was at my house for approximately 3 hrs. and several times he went outside and called someone on his cell phone and come back inside and continue pressuring me to purchase more items.  I told him I did not appreciate what I felt were scare/strongarm tatics and I asked to speak to his supervisor.  He called his supervisor,Ryan Wilkes and Mr. Wilke's tone was disrespectful.  I explained that I had told his installer that I only wanted the basic system and he made comments relating to how much free equipment ADT had provided for me,and when I told him I may want upgrades later, he said,  that's what happens after you have problems/break-ins then you want our help.  I also told him the day before I had spoken to a ADT rep about service at a business and that rep had been extremely helpful/friendly and I had never once felt pressured or that he was using scare tatics to try and get me to spend more money. Mr. Wilkes made the comment that that was because that ADT rep really didn't care about me or my safety because he would get paid regardless. I asked Mr. Wilke's what it would cost me to just forget the installation and he told me I would be responsible for the 84.74 I had paid and depending on how long his installer had been in my home maybe an additional amount.  I decided that I wanted the installer to remove everything and leave my home.  By this time, I felt very upset and I did not want to have future contact with this company such as having them come back to upgrade or perform service calls. Mr. Baumberger left my premises and about 15 minutes later returned with a cancellation form which I signed.  I was left with holes in the wall where he removed the keypad. I would like others to know that the tatics this company uses are ones that are meant to scare you into buying items you may not want. I would also like to add when the installer returned with the cancellation form he directed me to sign at the top of the page which I assumed meant I was cancelling the transaction.  Unfortunately, only after faxing the cancellation notice to ADT was I informed that by signing the top of the page I was only acknowledging that I received the cancellation form, but to actually cancel I was supposed to sign at the bottm page.  The installer did not explain this and did not direct my attention to that part of the form.  After being asked to terminate the installation, I'm sure it was very clear to him that termination was exactly what I wanted.
