Concrete Repair reviews in Chesterland

    Mountainview Contracting LLC
They were trying to pour concrete in 90 degree weather, and it was drying faster than they could finish it. 1/3 of the concrete turnaround had no finish. The Mountainview owner wanted to tear out part of the concrete and redo it, but all of it needed to be torn out due to poor quality. I refused to allow them to do the other 1/2 of the job (which was to replace the gravel driveway with concrete). The concrete had unevenness, the finish was poor, and there were holes in the concrete at the ends of the joints, so water could get in. They splattered concrete on part of the walkway next to the turnaround. They left two 2-foot high piles of concrete at the end of the driveway because the cement truck ran out of water.

The driveway came out excellent, now we are able to get a basketball hoop for my son and not worry about driving up the stone driveway in the winter time.  The garage keeps our cars nice and warm!!

DeLauro was able to take the blocks down, pour a footer, backfill with stone and lay drainage pipes.  They tied the drainage into an existing pipe. They showed up when they said, worked a full day,  were very professional and even worked on a Saturday.  They were not disruptive to me or my family.  They left the area clean.  It was a lot of digging and heavy work.  I have hired a lot of contractors of the years.  There is always something negative I can find.  Not with DeLauro brothers. They did exactly what they said for the price they listed. I did get three bids and they were right in the middle.

    Tomaro Construction Co Inc
I called Tomaro for a concrete estimate for a garage I was building and needed an estimate for the floor.  I called to get an appointment, and they were able to get to me quickly when inclement weather the next day prevented them from being outside.  They were very knowledgeable, helpful, and professional and provided a detailed estimate later via email that was competitive.  Ultimately, someone else did the work when I had to bring in a general contractor, but wouldn't hesitate to call them again for my next concrete project.

We were very happy with the promptness and professional attitude of the company workers.  The work has held up well through the snow and salt so far.  We were so pleased with the results that we requested a driveway quote for spring.  Would definitely recommend for concrete work.

In the fall of 2010 they were supposed to come back and power wash the driveway and do a seal. Since that didn't happen and they were not returning my calls, there are now cracks in the driveway. When they finally came out to take a look they advised me they would fix the cracks and seal it as they had promised. I have been calling and calling and they still are not getting back with me. I just want the cracks to be replaced and the driveway to be completed.

Called Courtesy for an estimate on replacement of a brick walkway, wooden outdoor steps, and retaining wall. When I called for an estimate, they wanted to come out immediately, however I had to make the appointment for 2 days later when I could make arrangements to be home. When Ralph came out to do the estimate, we told him we wanted to replace the bricks with concrete, possibly stamped concrete. He said a few times that he didn't do that kind of work but he knew a guy, and also said later he "used to know" a guy who did it. It seemed like he was saying he couldn't do the job, but he never came right out and said it. Instead, he promised us an estimate in 2 weeks (after my husband suggested 10 days), which almost made me laugh, that is the old cliche of contractors, they always answer "two weeks" when you ask how long something will take. It's so funny, he even argued with me about the number of doors we'd put on the screened in patio. Meanwhile he had no intention of even bidding this job. Well, it's been 4 weeks and still no estimate. I called them 2 weeks ago to update with another phone number and the receptionist said Ralph was coming to my house that day. I was home at the time she specified and Ralph didn't show. I'm not going to use him for this job, since he obviously doesn't want the work. I've used Courtesy for two other jobs, and I had decent results. If he didn't do this kind of work I wish he wouldn't have wasted my time. I'm a month behind now, I was hoping to do other work to the landscaping and now it looks like that won't happen. Very disappointing!

We had considered re-topping the existing asphalt drive but, because the concrete garage floor needed repair and the concrete walk needed replacement, we decided to investigate replacing the drive w/ concrete also.  Received a prompt reply from Jacquelyn to schedule an initial inspection, which promptly followed w/ a detailed quote/proposal. The cost was higher than for asphalt but not significantly, considering the additional concrete work, including widening the section in front of the garage. After accepting proposal, Jacquelyn provided an initial estimate as to when the work would be performed, and kept us updated, as schedules can shift based on weather, etc.  The work was ultimately scheduled earlier than originally anticipated (good for us!).  Chris and his crew arrived as scheduled in the morning; Chris and I did a final review of the planned work as the rest of the crew hustled to stage all the equipment.  It was expected that the concrete pour would happen the next morning but, apparently, the crew was more efficient and the work went more smoothly than hoped and, by the time I returned from work, everything was complete, including the concrete pour.  Because of the threat of rain, Chris and his crew stood by for a while to determine if plastic sheeting would be needed to protect the finish.  Finally, not trusting the forecasts, they placed the sheeting and called it a day.  They returned the next day to finish off (remove forms, saw-cut crack controls, general cleanup).  Overall, Chris and his crew were very professional, pleasant and, obviously, hard-working ... and the new drive looks great, much better than an asphalt drive ... kudos to Romanin Concrete and, especially, Chris and his crew!

    Tomaro Construction Co Inc
We were slow in beginning our project and Tomaro Construction was very patient and accommodating when we changed our minds about the scope of the work after his first estimate. He was also amenable to working with us as DIY homeowners.  My husband built the steel structure for the front porch and pre-graded and filled the patio area.  Tomaro prepared the site, checked and tamped the gravel fill and laid the reinforcement a few days before the concrete pour.  The pour was scheduled according to the best weather. The crew arrived early and worked continuously until the pour and finish work were completed, approximately 6-8 hours. I took extensive photographs of the process. After the initial cure period, Tomaro came to clean the new concrete in preparation for me to artistically stain the compass.  When I completed the stain, Tomaro returned to apply a solvent based acrylic cure and seal.  All of this had to be done quickly because of threatening weather. Overall, the crew was wonderful - very professional and they really know their industry. The existing driveway will need further repair in the future and we will not hesitate to contact Tomaro Construction Co. when we are ready to do the work. I also intend to contact them for an upcoming project with my church.

They worked very well together from start to finish, definitely not cutting any corners. Even left the clamps on overnight, and came back the next morning to be sure all was the way it was supposed to be.
