    Cerha Kitchen & Bath
Cerha did a fantastic job for us. The price was right and fair. The results were even better than imagined. They told us when they were going to be there and were seldom late. We were able to add to the project and they still finished on time. Andrea, our personal designer, did a wonderful job helping us sort through the overwhelming choices and color options. She was always prepared and on time for our appointments. We would definitely work with them again.

    Absolute Kitchens and Baths
Danny, the owner, and his good friend and co-worker Dominic did a fabulous job on our complete remodel of our kitchen. They always arrived on time and were really pleasant to have in my house every day. The quality of both the workmanship and the supplies/materials that they used is superb. Danny is not one to cut corners. Just the opposite, he spends extra time and care to make sure that everything is just right but he doesn't charge an arm and a leg to do it the right way. Not only was his price lower than the bids from other larger contractors with fancy show rooms, but I am certain that the care and time he took surpassed what we would have gotten from random groups of workers. Danny designed our new layout and gave us plenty of options for materials to choose from. He made sure we had roll-out shelves for our pantry, a pull-out garbage cabinet, pull-out spice rack, and pull-out sheet pan cabinet. He then built custom cabinet bases so that we could extend our cabinet line across the baseboard heating. He also created our half-wall with a beautiful hand-made hickory post and top to match our cabinets. Danny is also an excellent plumber and even fixed a pipe that broke (unrelated to our kitchen) while he was there for us, just because his knew how and he is a good person. Besides assisting Danny with remodel, Dominic is also a master electrician and ran all of our new electric work, making sure it was done properly and to code. Absolute Kitchens and Baths has won our loyalty and we have already contracted them for a second project and will continue to give them our business as future projects need doing.

    Johnson Home Improvement Services
Johnson Home Improvement Services did a fantastic job. Dan completely gutted our bath, removing the old one piece shower, vanity, etc. He installed a new concrete shower base, cement board on the walls, and tiled the floor and shower walls. When unforseen problems were encountered, I was offered several alternatives for solutions. Very professional and conscientious. Dan finished ahead of schedule. We will definitely hire Johnson Home Improvement Services again!

    Borowske Builders Inc
    •    There are not enough wonderful adjectives to fully describe the wonderful job done by Don Borowske and his crew.  This was the most pleasant, professional, and honest experience we have ever had with a contractor.  Don is a truly good person who backs up his words with his actions.  He gave us a very reasonable estimate given the amount of work we wanted done, and he stuck to it to the penny.  As Don told us, he does NOT have cost overruns.  We were not charged for any extras other than add-ons we asked for.  The quality of the craftsmanship was superb; each trade he used outstanding.  Highly skilled, professional, and hard working.  Don kept the different crews (carpentry, plumbing, tile, electrical etc.) moving like clockwork and there was never a lull in the action.  And each and every trade expressed the highest degree of respect for Don, and they always brought their A-game.  Everyone was respectful, introduced themselves, was happy to answer questions about the project and CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES.  Interesting note:  Don has a penchant to use contractors whose names start with the letter "J" (Shout outs to Joe, Jay, Jessie, John (x several), Jeremy and Lou and Tony).  Of greatest importance, Don did not consider the job finished until we were completely satisfied and the small punch list was complete.

Quality, honesty, integrity, professional, all at a very reasonable price.  We would use Borowske Builders again without hesitation or reservation.

Initially, slow to respond to calls.  Got project started later than desired.  All work performed was good, not great, but good.  There were a few mistakes that I had to fix which cost me a few hours.  We had to fire him partway through the project b/c he was going way over the stated budget (a cost+20% job).
From a business standpoint, he was pretty aloof, he didn't keep records of anything.  He admitted as much b/c, when it came time for final payment, he was almost belligerent when I asked him for a detailed hours breakdown for the time that -he- actually spent working on-site (not materials or subs, those were straightforward).  He stated that it took him hours to go back and figure out what he spent on each item.  His personal labor charged was $10,200 with another $1,500 in mgmt fees.  I didn't dispute the mgmt fees at all even though the project dragged on for 10 weeks.
The line item breakdown was eventually provided and there were a few items that he could not explain why there were so many hours attributed to them.  SOME of them are as follows:
=>9 hours to reinstall 30 sq ft of flooring.  Tried to say that it took so long b/c he had to inspect the flooring that was taken out to find good pieces....
=>20 hours to re-drywalll, only used 12 sheets.  No explanation except that care was taken to not make a mess.  There was no mudding or taping involved, just hanging it.
=>3 hours to disassemble and remove a laminate shelf unit.  It had 8 screws....  (I reassembled in 20 minutes)  No explanation except that care was taken to not make a mess.
=>5 hours to cut the rim off of a tub and drop it into the hole in the tub deck....
You can decide for yourself if these hours are justified, I didn't think that they were.

From a workmanship standpoint, most things were OK, but there were some things that cost me a lot of time to deal with:
=>Large window was not installed square to the opening resulting in uneven trim work.
=>Cutout for tub was not square to the flooring or wall.  This resulted in the stone slab having to be installed crooked and this led to substantial work to mitigate the visual effects by building a tub front that hid most of the problems.
=>Broke a light fixture that I have been unable to match so far.
=>Cut into a wire when drilling holes and did not repair it, required an hour replace the wire.
=>Did not run some wiring before walls were closed up, required 45 minutes to resolve.
=>Cut hole through the shower tile in the wrong spot, required 45 minutes to resolve.

Lastly, the least professional thing I encountered was when he showed up at my house on Friday morning at 8:30 AM (uninvited!) with 15 minutes notice and demanded payment for an invoice that was only a week old and was being disputed.
I think that will probably be the one and only job that hire him for.  Like I said, his work was good, but was overshadowed by the other events of the project.

    A J Enterprises
Someone had requested me to make a box that they needed to put the remains of their loved one who had passed away. I tried to make it but in vain so I took it to A J Enterprises and they did a wonderful job. It was absolutely beautiful. When I handed over the box to them they were very pleased. I had the dimensions for the interior box that had to go into the wooden box and he got me a wooden box. He pays attention to the detail and does a fine job. I would use them in the future.

    Lost Pond Construction Inc
Overall, everything went very well. The window replacement, painting and floor installation was subcontracted out and all of the subcontractors were prompt, efficient and professional. With as many different things in my house that were being worked on, there was very little interruption or inconvenience in my daily life. The foreman of the overall remodeling project kept in contact with me continuously and always treated me with courtesy and professionalism. Any issues I had with the work that was being done were addressed immediately and to my satisfaction. The end result of the remodeling project met and in some areas exceeded my expectations and I feel like I am living in a new home now that everything is completed.

    A J Enterprises
Someone in the family asked me to make a box to hold someone's ashes.  They gave me the outside dimensions of the box.  I made one, but was not happy with my work.  Since Bill Byler of AJ Enterprises had just completed our kitchen cabinets, I thought he could help.  He was glad to do it and got the box done in two days.  It was made a lot better than the one I did with expert corners and finishes.   Neither of us knew exactly what such a box should look like.  Bill called a couple of funeral homes and got some information from them and then proceeded to make the box.  They told him they sell boxes like this for $170 and up.

Their prices are competitive. The carpenter that did it was very creative. A utility room is sort of hard. He knew where to put the electrical outlets and what he could wall in. He gave me ideas. It was nice to work with him because he was helpful and easy to talk to.
