Lighting Installation reviews in Chagrin Falls

    Johnson Home Improvement Services
Unbelievable! What a great job Dan and his company did. Just wonderful! I owned a small business for 40 years and my number one requirement when I hired someone was to hire a person who cares. Dan Cares. From the smallest detail to the largest, he would make sure it was right. His communication skills regarding the planning, the progress, his suggestions to make the project better, and just his overall friendliness was second to none. In addition, he and PJ work so hard and so fast but never take shortcuts. If you want to hire a great guy who does quality work, Dan is your guy.

Dan and his assistant, PJ, did an incredible job with our master bath remodel. Two months later and we still comment on how much we enjoy and appreciate the work they did. This was a full gut and installation of new walls, cabinets, plumbing, lighting, heated floor and tile.

    Paul Baucco Construction Inc.
Paul is a great contractor. He has a ton of skills, some great employees and subs and he does great, creative work in a collaborative fashion. We first worked with Paul and his crew when we did an extensive kitchen remodel. This job included all new tile, cabinets, all plumbing fixtures, and new appliances, as well as the installation of radiant floor heating, new windows and doors, and electrical and plumbing relocation. The job also included the installation of a new laundry room including plumbing, gas, and electrical. The whole job went very smoothly and we are very pleased with the results. We also had Paul install a large deck on our house which is amazing, the deck is on it's third summer and it's holding up great and is super solid. Paul also installed a paver stone walkway and patio for us. This project included building the walk way up from a sunken site and incorporating large sandstone barn stones to match our 1850 farm house. Paul is a great mason and tile guy for sure. Overall, I've found Paul Baucco to be easy to get along with, fun to work with, punctual and honest. He really gives contractors a good name.

    Hook Home Maintenance
There are plenty of competent contractors, Hook Home Maintenance is not one of them. When I hired Hook Home Maintenance they told me the project would take three weeks at a cost of $41.5 k. It took 13 weeks (with Lindsay telling me 2 more weeks starting at week six), and the final bill was $75.9 k (YES, that is an increase of 83%). The majority of the overage being unexplained labor -materials were over by $7.1 k, labor was over by $27.3 k. The project was not only grossly underestimated, but the additional 10 weeks cost listing the house during a sellers market that was busiest when the house was supposed to be complete. Since completion was in mid-May instead of the beginning of March, additional funds were necessary to paint the outside of the house, which was never part of the original project (No, I did not have Hook paint the outside). Hooks incompetency cost me addition money in many areas. Upon inspection of Hooks work The kitchen rendering that was provided did not match what was installed There was damage to the kitchen cabinets when they were installed The new toilet in the upstairs bath was not functioning Shelves were missing from the kitchen pantry and laundry room and were not in the house Pre-painted trim was cut and raw wood was left exposed Prep work prior to painting (filling holes and dents) was not done and there was paint on the new hardwood floors, the fireplace stone, etc. (Ironically, the estimate to paint was the only cost that Randy advised me was over budget and after asking how much it was going to be over, I never received a revised estimate, just an invoice.) The wood counter tops in the kitchen were a different wood than the laundry room counter tops I was charged for six (6) hours of cleaning that was done two weeks prior to Hook completing the project. Additional funds were used for a final cleaning. Overages and expenditures as the project was under way were not conveyed and when specifically asked about costs and time lines, updated cost estimates were not provided and updated time estimates were inaccurate. The amount of money allocated for this project was clearly communicated at the beginning of the project and Shawn assured that he thought there would be savings in some of the discounts provided by Lowes for materials. An opportunity to control costs was not provided as Hook Home Maintenance continued to send invoices with unexplained labor costs. The majority of Hooks work was acceptable, but not worth the overage in cost, time and aggravation. There are plenty of competent contractors out there. Hook Home Maintenance is not one of them.

    Litescapes by Dan Husney LLC
It went awesome! Dan was great! I had planned on getting several bids, but Dan had such incredible reviews on Angie's list, I just went with him. I gave him all A's except price which I gave a B. In fairness to Dan, I don't really know if he deserved a B instead of an A for price because I didn't get other quotes but it just seemed a little higher than I thought (or perhaps only hoped) it would be. Dan came out to our house in the east suburbs and spent plenty of time with me and my wife understanding what we wanted to do. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and not notice the difference, but I also didn't want to break the bank. Dan understood this and made some suggestions of different light locations and different styles of light to get more out of our system. He had good suggestions and was very easy to work with. We initially didn't have a rush on it, but were gearing up for a big backyard graduation party for our son and Dan squeezed us in early to have it done before the party. He worked with our existing system. He was complimentary of the wiring work done by our original installer instead of being one of those guys that thinks every other contractor does terrible work. He listened to what we wanted, sent us a written estimate within hours and was just great. He came back at night to turn it on to make sure we liked it. It looks great. Somebody broke 2 of the lights by accident during the first month. We thought we would be out $300 to get them replaced but we texted Dan a photo and he jumped into help mode and explained how we could fix them with just a $10 part. He made our day for a second time. Highly recommend Dan! Hard worker, dependable, honest. Wants your business at a reasonable price and doesn't treat you like you are "an interruption" to his work like some contractors. Wish there were more people like him out there.

    Litescapes by Dan Husney LLC
If only every tradesman I hired to work on my house were like Dan! I can't speak highly enough about his professionalism, expertise and skill. Dan was on time or early for every meeting. He had excellent advice for the design of the lighting display on my home, and got the job done ahead of deadline. And, the finished product was fantastic--just what I was hoping for. As far as I'm concerned, if you are shopping for someone to do this kind of project there is no need to talk to anyone but Dan.

    Litescapes by Dan Husney LLC
Dan did a fantastic job. I simply asked for my house and yard to be the best looking in our neighborhood after dark and he destroyed my competition while not breaking the bank. On a personal level, Dan is just a terrific guy and is one of the most passionate contractors i have ever come across.

My 1970s basement was dark paneled, low ceilings because of HVAC duct work and generally a space no one wanted to be in. After a 5-week remodel, I stand in our new family room in awe. I had an idea of what I wanted. I got what I wanted and more. JBH Construction owner, John, offered creative and reasonably-priced solutions throughout the demolition and remodel. The low ceilings were corrected by rerouting the duct work along the perimeter of the back wall which opened the height of the room, creating a light and a visually open and airy feeling. The dark paneling was removed and replaced with drywall that was painted a light dove gray. One wall in the former basement was old, cracked orange and brown brick. I was ready to tear it down, but John suggested painting the brick wall and grout white and then each individual brick a darker gray. It may be my very favorite part of the room! There was an existing water line in the former basement, John suggested creating a wet bar along that wall. Again, never would have thought that was a choice, but now I have a sink, lengthy counter, storage space and mini fridge for easy entertaining. I truly cannot say enough about how pleasant these guys (Scott and Drew, too) were to work with. It's not easy to find quality craftsmanship at a fair price...I had my kitchen remodeled years before I found JBH Construction... what a difference a good contractor makes! Gonna bring them back to remodel the upstairs master bathroom. Thank you JBH Construction for making my house more of a home!

I had several quotes and went with John's company because his prices was slightly more competitive, and it was his own company. John was happy to answer questions by 'phone of email until I was sure it was the right choice and happy to progress. John's team were professional, clean, courteous, on time, helpful with selecting paints (I have no clue about colors!), and did not overstay their welcome! I would certainly recommend JBH Construction and would use them again.

    Rons Electrical Service

We were having difficulty finding a local electrician who seemed interested in doing the multitude of electrical work for our addition. Most quoted very high and gave sketchy quotes, or simply provided a number over the phone. We found Ron's Electrical Services on Angie's List and contacted him. (He had received good reviews, which was important to us.) He responded quickly and came out to review the jobsite and the blueprints. It was evident by the questions he asked and the suggestions he made that Ron knew his business. He put his detailed quote together and got it to us within three days (on a Saturday). Since he could begin the job the immediately and because we were impressed with his knowledge, we hired him even though we felt his price was high. In all fairness, it has been some time since we had any construction work done, so perhaps we were not familiar with current costs.

Within three days, Ron had everything ready for the rough wiring inspection, and it was approved that day. Ron also was quite professional, and continued his work over the next several weeks, fitting his work in as the other contractors got areas ready for him to work. Among the jobs completed were the complete new wiring for the addition; connecting the furnace, two air conditioners and a whole-house generator; installing light fixtures, ceiling and exhaust fans, numerous outlet boxes (both indoors and outdoors) and electrical switches; exterior flood lights, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors both on the first floor and in the basement; plus TV and phone connections; and, of course, fitting everything into the electrical breaker box. He passed final inspection and even made sure the new TV worked properly before he declared his job finished.

Ron was professional and friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with him occasionally as he completed his work.

We would definitely recommend Ron's Electrical Services and would use his services again ourselves.
