  • Total NIGHTMARE. AVOID Roger Conrad Concrete at all costs. I am STILL waiting on job to be completed from OCT 2017. It will soon be ONE YEAR that Roger Conrad has left me without a drainage system. Terrible work. I paid him $10,400 for a new driveway and new drainage system. We arrived home one Saturday in OCT 2017 to see that his crew (who showed up whenever they felt like it, without any warning) was attaching a 1.5 inch schedule 40 pipe into a 4 inch schedule 40 pipe. (?) I called Roger and told him that a 4 inch pipe should go into a 4 inch pipe. He said it would be fine. We said NO, this is NOT fine, will not work and makes no sense and a legit contractor would never do something like this. He said he couldn't come back for a couple days. We said ok. We want it done right. That was OCT 2017. Many many many calls later to try to chase this guy down. STILL WAITING. Called him in Oct, Nov, Dec. No response. FINALLY caught him on the phone in Jan 2018 and he said he'd come back when the weather was warm. Can't even describe what an awful experience he has created, leaving our house without a drainage system. Water in basement, when it rains there is water shooting out of the unfinished pipe he left, everything a mess, thanks to him. I had to hire a lawyer. That's how bad this has gotten. After numerous calls to Roger Conrad from Oct 2017 to June 2018, telling him that he needs to finish the job or he'll be hearing from my attorney, he finally showed up. He had not been here since OCT 2017. He took one look at the stupid situation his crew left us in and tried to lie and say that it was fine. He dug into the dirt with a hammer (?!), exposed the pipe that they never finished and claimed he'd come back the next day. Another lie. Have never seen or heard from this guy again with the exception of him sending me a facebook request which I ignored. (Bizarre behavior. Won't take my calls or fix the problem yet thinks we can be fb friends?! Very weird and unprofessional.) I should have known he was not honest when he told me not to tell anyone the quote he was giving me, and not to get any other quotes. Later, ACTUAL professionals and even my lawyer told me this was a complete rip off price. But he indicated he was giving me a discount which was a complete lie. My old driveway was much better than this new one that he attempted to put down. They couldn't even get the driveway level so there are puddles everywhere at the slightest rain. And he made this new terrible driveway several feet less wide than my existing driveway, which created several feet of weeds that I now have to deal with. The shoddy lopsided driveway along with the leaving us without a drainage system has been the most unprofessional work I've ever seen. My mistake? I should have looked at the BBB website to see that he has a score of an F. I should have googled him to see that the Attorney General of Ohio had lawsuits against him. Here's part of the lawsuit I later found online: "Attorney General Mike DeWine recently filed lawsuits seeking restitution for consumers harmed by Roger Conrad Jr., doing business as C&R Concrete, of Sugar Grove. C&R Concrete specializes in providing concrete patios and driveways and the repair of concrete walls. Consumers complain that C&R’s concrete work is uneven, unprofessional, and that the concrete cracked soon after installation. After consumers complained to C&R, Conrad never returned to provide repairs. The list of losses stands in excess of $40,000. The lawsuit filed in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court on Friday alleges that the company failed to perform promised work, performed shoddy or incomplete work, or failed to provide consumers with necessary information, such as a written date of estimated completion, a list of materials to be used, and the amount charged for labor." I filed a report with the BBB and they sent him numerous letters but he won't answer them, either. Don't make the same mistake I did. Do your research and avoid Roger Conrad Concrete at all costs.
