  • When dropping the curtains I indicated to starch heavily.  A week later, when picking up the curtains, when told the price to clean these items, my response was "you are joking, right?"   Having had them cleaned previously, I knew what the former company had charged. Also, having had a variety of curtains and draperies both laudnered and dry cleaned in my years  as a homeowner, I am aware of local prices.   This price was over twice what the other company had charged, just three years earlier to clean these same curtains.    The Blairs  company had dry cleaned the panels and charged per panel for cleaning and pressing at a rate of over $14 per panel (30" x 63" max. size) and $2.50 each for cleaning and pressing the tie backs (2" x 20" max size).  In calling to several diferent local cleaners (although after the fact) I learned that most will charge by the size of the panel and type of cleaning performed. Comparable cleaning costs at other area cleaners would have been from the lowest price of $5.30 per panel up to $10 per panel - to clean, starch and press as requested.  Blairs charges a flat rate per panel for dry cleaning no matter what the dimensions and a flat rate for pressing - regardless of how many pleats a drapery may have, etc.. .
    I asked the clerk if this was correct and the floor manager looked at the ticket, counted the panels and said "yes".   Another manager then called the front area and said to give me a $12 credit against this bill, which they did.  Then I requested to be permitted to go home to get a coupon for this business, which I knew I had at home - which was for 20% off.  The response was that coupons need to be brought in with the items to be cleaned, so I would not be able to use the coupon.     Another complaint was made to the company and I received a response letter which called me "ignorant" and otherwise displayed very unprofessional comments and extremely poor customer service response. 

    Very unprofessional group of employees who follow their company President's management style of lack of concern for the customers requests.    I will never do business with this business again.   My main complaint is not the prices charged, but the demeaning  manner in which the complaint was handled by this company.  A customer should never be insulted!

  • While washing my "whites", they told me a red crayon must have been left in my daughters pocket and it melted onto some of our white clothes. My children are all well past the age that they leave crayons in their pockets. When I picked the clothes up, they showed me the damaged whites. When I got home and was removing them from the basket, I discovered clothes of ALL colors that were damaged. When I called back to talk to the owner, they refused to give me her name. I went back to the store, and they refused to pay me for the damaged clothing. They were extremely rude. They showed me the machine that had the supossed crayon melted in it and the machine didn't even have an "Out of Order" sign on it. If that goop really caused the damage, you would think that the machine would be put "Out of Order" until the goop could be removed. I realized after going thru all of the baskets of laundry, that they never sorted the clothes by color. They put each basket of laundry into a machine without sorting it. When I asked the owner about this, she said they only seperate light from dark. I have used plenty of laundry services, and had never had one tell me that. If you look at the damaged clothes, they were all different colors, not just light and dark. Its obvious that the clothes weren't sorted. As for the damage being done by a crayon, I have showed one of the shirts to 3 different Dry Cleaners and all of them have said they think its marker. The owner had given me a discount on the laundry service, but it in no way came close to covering the cost of replacing the damaged clothes.
