Do Tire Patches Work?

Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Canton

  • I was taken advantage of pretty bad here. I went for an oil change and to have my muffler looked at. They came back and said I had to replace my serpentine belt and I reluctantly agreed, but for some reason they loosened my tensioner bolt and left it loose, which resulted in it backing out, the tensioner pulley to shift out of place, and thus destroying the brand new serpentine belt. While driving home, I noticed a really loud squeaking. With the serpentine belt not working, my power steering fluid stopped pumping and the power steering went out while driving causing my car to loose control and to go off the road. When I had it towed to them to look at, I told them to just look at it but don't do anything without my authorization. After 30-60 mins after they looked at it, they brought me over to look at it and my tensioner was pushed back into place and the tensioner bolt was broken off inside of the engine block. They denied breaking it even though I had pictures of it not broken hour before. They told me it was not their fault and was Toyota's fault for not recalling a poor design. They said I would have to pay to have them fix it, which would involve un-mounting the engine and partially removing it to to be able to drill the bolt out. I told them to hold off on doing anything because I wanted to investigate their claim. I called and asked a friend of mine, who is a Toyota service mechanic with 22 years of experience, for his opinion and showed him all the pictures I took before they touched it the second time (without permission, might I add). He said the pictures proved definitively the problem was caused by mechanic error and he had never heard of any problems with the tensioner bolt like they claimed. I brought this Toyota mechanic with me to talk to the manager. The manager said he was currently too busy to talk and that we could wait. Annoying, but willing to wait, we stepped outside to wait and are chatting together for a few minuets when all the sudden 4 cop cars (yes 4) pull up all around us and asked for our ID's. THE MANAGER CALLED THE COPS ON US AND REFUSED TO TALK TO US. After the cops realized what was going on, they told us this was the 4th time this year Monro Muffler has done this to other customers. The cops said it was a very shady practice, but that Monro Muffler calls the cops on customers who have a complaint about the work they do, and the reason for this is the Monro has a policy that if the cops are called, they refused to talk to you or to allow you on the property. When I tried to call their corporate office, they just asked me "are you Mr. Miller?", and I said yes. I was told to never call back and hung up on. So now I am left with my tensioner assembly laying in pieces on the floor of my passenger side seat and looking at $400-$1000 cost to have it fixed and the people responsible for it are refusing to even talk to me. The cops encouraged me to pursue legal action against them because they don't want this kind of shady business practice in their town, but that their hands were tied and it was a matter for the court system.

  • In our past dealings with All Care it was understood that if repairs were going to reach beyond the original scope, it was agreed that they'd call us for approval since a few of our vehicles were teetering on the edge of being scrapped. Needless to say, they didn't call this time. Resulting in a bill over $3,000 on a vehicle with over 250,000 miles on it. Now, the invoice has been satisfied, and they are holding our vehicles hostage for whatever reason, resulting in lost revenue for our company. Find yourself an honest mechanic that communicates with you. It'll save you the hassle and time of dealing with crooks like Joe.

  • They were very thorough. I think the price was pretty high. The manager is wonderful. He is a very good communicator and very nice. The shop is clean. Everything is in at its place. It's giving a very good impression when you go in there.

  • The tires and appliances were good in the past. I don't think they are pricey and I have never had any problem in the past for 30 or 40 years except one time for a dishwasher when I was very irritated. Everything is good.

  • We have always felt Canton Auto is fair and does not suggest work needs done that does not. I can go in and describe a problem or change in the way my car drives and they figure out the issues. They call with an estimate on repairs, as expected. As I said, they have taken care of 4-5 cars in our family. I have confidence in their work.

  • They were very quick and efficient.  This was the second time I have been to Dan's to have a tire patched (2 different cars/tires).  Both times they explained the difference between a patch and a plug, and were able to patch each tire at a cost of about $15 each.  I was in and out of the shop within 20 minutes and both times they had put the tire back on the car & replaced the spare in the trunk.

  • I wanted to get American made tires, so I went to Dan's. I was very pleased with the helpI received there. The salesman was very knowledgable and helpful. I was having trouble with hydroplaning and sliding in the rain and winter months. I also travel to everyday for work and college, so I wanted to get reliable and safer tires. The salesman gave me several options I could use and recommended a more costly choice, but it wasn't the most expensive one. I decided to go with those tires and have been completely happy since. My tires were perfectly balanced and I haven't had a problem since they were installed. They may be a little more pricey than other p;laces, but knowing I got reliable, American made tires was worht the extra cost.

  • Not only did they sell me tires, they could also fix pretty much anything mechanically that was wrong with the car. They have a guy there that runs the desk, Red, he is outstanding. He is very polite and attentive. They have never tried to fix something that wasn't needed. I have always been happy with their services.

  • They were great.  I had a flat and they came to my home to fix it. They go above and beyond the call of duty.  The whole staff is professional, courteous, and knowledgable. I will continue to use them and would highly recommend them to others.

  • This place is amazing!  I had a great experience from the first phone call for an estimate through the appointment and final work being done. I had scheduled new tires and an alignment, which they did speedily and for a great price.  The mechanic then told me that my brake pads were nearly gone and gave me an estimate to replace them the same day.  This wasn't an upsell -- I already knew that the pads were pretty much shot and had planned to get them done soon anyways.  Liepold's quoted a price that was 20% better than the last estimate I'd received, so we went ahead with the brakes today!  Wow - all ready for winter now ... I was thrilled with the ultra-professional treatment I received.  :-)
