    Safe At Home Pet Sitting
Absolutely wonderful!! She is an angel. Perfection. We couldn't travel from home if we hadn't found her. She is professional and totally trustworthy. She contacts us each day by texting to let us know everything is OK!

When I walked in the door after flying in from L.A., the urine smell hit me immediately. It wasn't difficult to tell where the odor was coming from b/c I had shown Lynne where one of my cats would spray if he wasn't given his medicine twice daily. I told her to check the draperies, the throw rugs, the shower curtain; all three places had been sprayed. My kitchen rug actually squished when I stepped on it. My dishwasher, refrigerator and oven also had been sprayed and even the pile of mail on the kitchen counter was soaked and stuck to the counter! My dry cleaner told me that he had to clean my draperies three times b/c the odor was so bad and yet Lynne claims that she checked everywhere every day and that there was no odor and no spray. Please. I arrived home at 6:30 PM and I cleaned until midnight, awoke early the next morning and cleaned all day until 5:30 PM. I was exhausted from a busy trip in L.A. during Thanksgiving week and from the long flight and drive home. I would not have taken on that cleaning task unless I absolutely had to. Friends had come to my home while I was gone b/c during that time my furnace was having issues. Lynne did call me on my cell phone and when asked if she knew anyone who could repair it, she said that she did know someone and she had him come to look at the furnace but he couldn't repair it. That wasn't her fault and I don't hold her responsible. I then called a friend and he came and fixed it. My friends did notice, however, that there were several piles of vomit on the floor that were hard and crusty so, clearly, they had been there for a few days but Lynne hadn't bothered to clean them up. I first called Lynne the second I came home; she didn't answer her phone so I left a voice mail and told her that the cats seemed ok so there was no problem there. However, as I walked through the house, I could see what issues there were that had been unaddressed. I later emailed her and apprised her of the situation. Her reply was "It seems like I am not the right pet sitter for you. How would you like for me to return your key?" I emailed her back and said "That's your reply? No addressing the situation? These were things that we discussed at length." Her reply to that was "I'm sure that you can find a pet sitter who has more time to take care of those things correctly". Sorry but there's more to pet sitting than just feeding, watering and cleaning litter boxes and she knows it and we talked about those very issues. My neighbor who lives across the street told me that she saw Lynne pull her car in my driveway in the morning and then my friend would go to make her coffee and when she came back a few minutes later, Lynne had already left. So there's no way that Lynne could've done much of anything other than feed my cats w/in a few minutes time. Lynne said that she had been a registered vet tech and she presented me w/references which I did call and talk to. She cat sat for me twice before; the first time was for ten days and there were some inappropriate urinating issues and she admitted that she didn't give the culprit his medication in the evening. I let it go b/c it was her first time working for me and there were only a few spots. However, she made no effort to clean them up at that time either. The second time she cat sat for me for four days and there were no issues so I felt that we had turned the corner and that all would be well. She must have taken that as a sign that I would tolerate her laziness and lack of consideration for my cats and my home. Her excuse for not vacuuming: "You didn't set the vacuum cleaner out for me". True; I didn't. My alarm didn't go off that morning and I was more concerned about catching my flight on time. Besides, I had shown her where I keep the vacuum cleaner in the upstairs guest room in case I would forget to set it out but she denies that, yet she claimed to have been writing everything down as I showed her through the house. Of course, my main concern was/is that my cats would be well taken care of. My bad boy who sprays unless he's given medication also needs that med to keep him calm. He's a rescue as are all four of my cats and they had a rough go of it before they came to me. He needs his medication so that he can live a quality life. I don't blame Lynne for his bad behavior and I told her so. However, I do hold her accountable for not giving him his meds and for not spending enough time w/them so that they all would feel secure and safe. They ALL cried until 6:30 that following morning and I know that it was b/c they had been left alone for too long. They're not used to that. It wasn't b/c they missed Lynne; each wanted MY attention and it made the evening that much more unpleasant b/c I felt bad that they were all crying and I couldn't calm them down. Some people think that cats are loners and get along fine w/o people. Wrong. Maybe their cats are like that but mine are not and I also discussed this w/Lynne and she assured me that she would spend time w/them. Lynne doesn't like to give out her address so I don't have it to post here. That should've told me something right there but hindsight is 20/20. (I did mail her my key but had forgotten to record it in my address book.) It isn't my intention to ruin her reputation. However, after my neighbor told me how quickly Lynne was in and out of my house, I decided that I should report this to keep someone else from making the mistake of hiring her. I've been actively involved in cat rescue for nearly 20 years and I know neglect when I see it. My cats and my home were neglected. To add insult to injury, I gave her a $25 holiday bonus in advance. No "thank you", no acknowledgement whatsoever. Money ill spent. When I was in business for myself and a client had a complaint, I never argued. I'd say "I understand. I'll make it right and I won't let it happen again." None of that professionalism from Lynne. She was busted and she knew it! If you hire Lynne, you do so at your own risk, and worse, at your cat(s)' risk. BUYER BEWARE! ***  5/21/11***  You'll notice that Lynne did not address any of the points that I mentioned.  Her references don't mean much if she doesn't do the job for YOU.  The fact that she would not discuss anything w/me but immediately said that she wanted to return my key speaks volumes.  If you hire Lynne, you'll regret it.

Excellent service - really put me at ease. I recently relocated and had not yet found a kennel near by that I was comfortable with, so I have been driving 30 miles to board my dogs at a kennel I was comfortable with - but they were closed for their annual vacation so I looked on Angie's List and found Sugarbush. On my first visit, Jim gave me a tour of the facility and talked me through their routines, I even got to meet his dogs! Seeing the environment and speaking with Jim made me feel my dogs were in good hands. I even called on day 2 to see how they were doing and he was willing and able to give me a detailed overview of their status. When I picked them up they were good to go and my confidence was validated by how they behaved with Jim and his team.

Heartland is our dog's home away from home. When we are traveling we know that she is in good hands with Vicki and her family. She does a great job with special care instructions and I trust her to care for our dog as we would ourselves.
