Countertop Installation reviews in Broadview Heights

    American Wood Reface
After deciding to reface rather than replace and after discussion with a family member as well as viewing the many reviews for this company as well as others on Angie's list as well as the BBB I chose American Wood Reface (AWR). I am extremely pleased with the outcome. Ron from AWR met with me for my initial consultation and he was very knowledgeable of the product as well as offering me solutions to a space problem in the refrigerator area and he responded to any questions I had with no time constraints on his part. In addition he went the extra mile to provide me with samples of my choices and there were NO high pressure sales tactics used during any part of this process. After deciding to go with AWR Terry from AWR came out to do the precise measurements and again walked thru everything that would be done and answer any questions I had. I ended up doing the cabinet refacing in cherry wood with Tuscan stain and counter tops were replaced in granite (Santa Cecelia Classic) as well as having custom cabinets including pantry built by AWR in the refrigerator area. As a side note Rocksolid Stone Works who AWR uses for the counter tops I met with Sue at Rocksolid to view the different granite slabs that I was considering and she to was extremely knowledgeable and even went so far as to show me additional slabs she thought of that ran along the same lines as those I was looking at. Sue also took whatever time was necessary to answer any of my questions. Finally and last but certainly not least I can't say enough about my carpenter on the job Ray, besides being a true gentleman he was meticulous in everything he did and his work turned out fantastic, he is a true craftsman. Ray also installed my new over the range microwave as well as installed the new faucet including hooking up the plumbing after the granite was installed. In addition, every night prior to leaving for the day Ray took the time to clean up the work area including the floors which in my mind is extremely important for any contractor one uses. Would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to do this type of project.

Ron, Rick and crew did an excellent job in turning our kitchen into everything we wanted it to be. Both even gave us some suggestions that would enhance our design that we did use. They always cleaned up after their day's work. Quality of their work was excellent. We love our kitchen and would definitely hire again for other jobs.

Our contractor, Borowske Builders uses Cleveland Granite for their granite preparation and install. We went to their Carnegie road location where our granite slabs were delivered to, after measurements were made. The proprietor was nice enough to go over the options and layout on the slabs; she made great suggestions. I had concerns about the stock sink but in the end, everything came out perfect. To this day, we still are in love with the granite and how well it was installed. Measurement, layout, preparation and installation were all top notch. Kudos to Cleveland Granite & Marble.

They did great.  They had the cheapest quote for the work we needed done.  Did all the communication by telephone and email.  Install was ok- they did not do one of the seams well so that there was a tactile edge to it, which was disappointing, but when we complained about it, Colin was able to get someone to come out and fix it so now it looks great.  They did not charge us until we were satisfied and the countertop looks fantastic.  I appreciated that they were able to get Caesarstone for us, even if it wasn't what they typically used.

Overall it was a great experience.  Leanne was the salesperson who worked with us initially.  She came to our home and was very patient with us going through samples and pictures of previous work that was done.  There was no pressure at all and we felt very comfortable with her.  Some of the things that she quotes, we found alternatives (i.e. the countertop and tile backsplash install) that were cheaper, so we didn't have AWR take care of those.  After reading all these reviews on Angies, we felt comfortable giving this company our business.
Later, after we signed the contract, Jason (the owner) and another carpenter came out to measure out the cabinets and walkthrough the planned job.  The actual work of the install took place a number of weeks later.  We were under the crunch of trying to finish most of the remodel by the holidays and they were on time and very professional.  Most of the work was done by a carpenter named Pat.  He was very polite and always cleaned up after himself.  The job was done within the 2 week time period that was scheduled.  Cabinets look great, very high quality.  Appreciate the splurge on soft door closing hinges.  There was one issue where Pat had some difficulty hiding the wiring of our hood and installed it in a way that did not hide the wiring at all.  I was not there for the install and was upset that this was his intended solution, so I wrote to Jason and he was very responsive for making things right.  Ultimately, they refunded me the amount of money that it took for a friend of mine to do the electrical work to hide the wiring ($75) which was appreciated.
I found AWF a good company to work with to have our cabinets refaced.  Our kitchen looks fantastic- much better than it would have been if we just painted our cabinets.  I wish that they would have been able to do the venting work for the hood install, but I realize that this is not their specialty.  Overall, even though it wasn't necessarily cheap, I feel like I got my money's worth from working with this company and would not hesitate to use them again.  I appreciated their responsiveness to my feedback and their willingness to make things right.

    Architectural Justice
This is a review of the installation of our countertops, I wrote a review on 9/25 of the process up to this point.

We were given an installation window (8 - 10 AM) and the installers arrived in that window.  They laid runners throughout the house to protect the floors and carpeting that they would be walking on. They went right to work and we are so happy with the results. Our kitchen is a U-shape with a peninsula and a separate computer desk. As a result, the granite was installed in 6 pieces.  The team did a great job in picking where to make the cuts to ensure that the granite flowed well and that the grain was going in the same direction throughout the kitchen.  The seam we were most concerned about was off the peninsula and the most visible.  We are thrilled with the match and the quality of the installation.

Because we had existing travertine tile on our backsplash, they installed filler strips to raise the height of the cabinets (because the formica we replaced was thicker than the granite).  They also added strips to the front of our cabinets to cover the filler strips.  These were stained to match our existing cabinets and we can't tell the difference - it looks like they were installed with the cabinets.

All the countertops were installed beautifully and we are so happy with our selections and the results.

We scheduled a follow up visit with Denise (our designer) to pick out tile for our backsplashes in the bathrooms and computer desk.  We opted not to do the traditional granite backsplash.  Knowing that we plan to do additional upgrades to our master bath shower and floor next year, Denise helped us with selections for the backsplash as well as ideas of how they would incorporate with our selections down the road.  Because our computer desk is off the kitchen, she helped us select a tile that would compliment the existing kitchen backsplash.  She is very creative and well versed in their product selections and what is trending as well as what will give us the most out of our remodel (for resale down the road).

Our experience with Architectural Justice is that they are a one-stop-shop.  They will be our first stop for all our future upgrades.

    Architectural Justice
Our countertop installation is scheduled for October 6th but this is our experience so far:
We were referred to Architectural Justice (AJ) by a family member who used their services and was very pleased. We walked in without an appointment on a very busy day and that was our first introduction to our design consultant, Denise Rideout. We were just gathering information and Denise gave us a good sense of what we could get within our budget.  We scheduled a follow up appointment to pick out the granite.
We gave Denise an idea of our preferences and she was able to quickly pinpoint the granite slabs for us to choose from - and their selection is quite extensive. John (their warehouse mgr) and his staff were very engaging and patient with pulling slabs for us to view. We were able to take pieces home to see how they would look in our own space before making any final decisions.  We returned twice to make a different selection for our master bath.  Denise and the AJ staff were very patient with us and it's clear they want us to be happy with our selections. During a conversation with Denise, I expressed concerns of matching seams because of the size and layout of our kitchen.  She brought in Brad (who does the layouts) to consult with us and explain how the slab would be cut to ensure they would make the best transitions at the seams.
Joe arrived on time at our home to do the templates.  We were very impressed with his professionalism, equipment and attention to detail - he asked questions that we had not even considered.  After the template layout, we returned to AJ for our layout appointment with Brad and Denise (who came in on her day off to help us).   We were never rushed during this process and Brad was very patient when we changed our minds.  Our biggest concern was the matching of granite at the seams in the kitchen.  Brad took such great care to find the best spots on the granite to match to another and maintain the flow of the granite.  We left that appointment, as we've left all the others: feeling so good and confident in our choice of AJ and getting Denise as our design consultant.  Even though we haven't officially had our countertops installed, our confidence level is very high that the great experience we have had so far will continue to the installers.  The staff at AJ have made this process interesting, fun and they have proven themselves again and again to be professionals that they are.  We love Denise's "can do" attitude!!!
I will write another review post installation as well as on the process of the custom cabinetry.

Certified Craftsmen of Northeast Ohio, LLC
It isn't often that one gets more than he paid for, but in this case, I can only say that Tom Nevits went out of his way to provide just that kind of bargain.  Tom is the owner of Certified Craftsmen of NE Ohio, and is exactly that, a true craftsman.  He can do it all, but his specialty is carpentry, which proved fortunate for me, since all the aforementioned projects required carpentry expertise.  In each case, Tom did an excellent job either fixing, or restoring, things that had long bedeviled me, owner of an almost 60-year old dwelling.  He made short work fixing a warped furring strip on an exterior door.  He caulked it well to prevent moisture inflitration, which had caused the problem in the first place.  Next, he realigned our bathroom linen cabinet to its adjacent vanity counter top, a problem he resolved using a single wood screw.  Other contractors estimated it would take hundreds of dollars to fix that very same problem.  The final two jobs required more effort, but Tom was up to the task.  He replaced a badly damaged trim board that had been gnawed
by our dog when still a puppy, and installed a new one in its place.  He also got a balky pocket door, which had never worked properly since we moved in, to operate smoothly.  That repair wasn't even among the ones he agreed to fix!  He simply did it as a courtesy.  In fact, one previous contractor stated he wasn't even willing to work on this type of door, which Tom fixed for free in approximately fifteen minutes, because they present such a formidable challenge.  In total, these repairs exceeded the two hour time limit in his Angie's List offer, but Tom did not charge any extra money, except $14 to buy the wood he needed to repair the jamb, which he actually drove to the store and purchased for me!  Tom cheerfully knocked all these jobs out in a friendly and courteous manner.  I was very grateful, because not only did he repair things that had bothered me for years, he literally saved me hundreds of dollars in the process.  Tom is a savvy contractor, with more than 20 years experience in the home repair business.  As I stated, his specialty is carpentry, but I would trust his professionalism to tackle just about any basic job.  He promptly answered my calls and e-mails, he was professional, and personable, and most important, he provided top-notch work at a more than reasonable charge.  I'm glad I found Tom Nevits, and I truly would not hesitate to contact him in the future for any other home repair projects I might need done.

    O'Brien Cut Stone
We worked with Jayme O'Brien and he was wonderful.  Very professional and helpful.  We told him we were on a somewhat tight budget, so he only showed us options in our price range and did not push for a higher cost product.  He had 1 smaller sheet of Giallo West which was perfect, it was his last one so he gave us a bit of a price break.  They came and measured at the beginning of July and completed the installation 2 weeks later.  The granite is beautiful and the installation was smooth and quick.  When the time comes for our kitchen remodel we will be contacting Jayme again.

    Rocksolid Stone Works
Arrived on time. Neither trade seemed like they wanted to be there. Their attitude seemed like they would rather be sitting in front of the TV with a beer. Granted it was Friday and I am sure like everyone they had a long week.
Their work was average. While nothing went wrong I just didn't feel that they took as much time with the joints as they could have.
Again, while nothing went wrong I just did not get any vibe other than average from the workers or the staff in the office for that matter.
