    Grout Doctor
He was also supposed to clean the tile and grout then seal it. The grout was not cleaned and he sealed it with clear coat. He said it wouldn't come clean, I know it will. Now I have grout that has mold in it that has been sealed. He did recommend that I change the color of the caulk, and I went along with the suggestion. He was right as it looks much better.

    Krokey Home Services
despite quick response from Bob Krokey we did not get a prompt service date. Service was scheduled for 10/1 but when his worker came he was not equipped to do the job and the worker was to discuss with Bob for a reschedule. Bob has since declined to do the work. The contract was for 8 hrs of painting for a job that when properly manned and equipped should take no more than 3-4 hours. I even asked for a new quote despite that Bob has never come out to assess the job personally. He has been non-responsive and I am sorely disappointed. I am requesting and expedient refund to my charge card.

    Gifford Remodeling, LLC
    1) Bathroom install:  Jay Gifford and his team designed and prepped the layout in the unfinished part of our basement.  He showed us options for fixtures and hardware.  Once we agree to the materials and start date they were fantastic.  They communicated with us every day to let us know of the status of where they were and any issues that arose.  They framed out the bathroom, hung drywall, laid flooring tile, painted and installed the fixtures.  The bathroom looks great!

    2) We also hired Gifford Remodeling to paint our finished part of our basement and first floor baseboards.  They were very professional and the work looks great.

    3) Lastly, We had them move some outlets, mount a shelf and TV bracket along with install several ceiling fans.

I cannot state how professional they were and their dedication to making sure they did things the right way.  The constantly checked in with us to make sure everything was to our liking.

I would highly recommend Gifford Remodeling to anyone else!

    Restore4me
Our experience with Restore 4 me was great. We have a lot of ceramic tile in very high traffic areas in our home, and the grout was in much need of a cleaning. We are extremely happy with the results of the cleaning. The grout looks good as new. From beginning to end, the people we worked with were professional, punctual, and took great pride in their work. I would defiantly recommend Restore 4 me.

    American Wood Reface
Overall it was a great experience.  Leanne was the salesperson who worked with us initially.  She came to our home and was very patient with us going through samples and pictures of previous work that was done.  There was no pressure at all and we felt very comfortable with her.  Some of the things that she quotes, we found alternatives (i.e. the countertop and tile backsplash install) that were cheaper, so we didn't have AWR take care of those.  After reading all these reviews on Angies, we felt comfortable giving this company our business.
Later, after we signed the contract, Jason (the owner) and another carpenter came out to measure out the cabinets and walkthrough the planned job.  The actual work of the install took place a number of weeks later.  We were under the crunch of trying to finish most of the remodel by the holidays and they were on time and very professional.  Most of the work was done by a carpenter named Pat.  He was very polite and always cleaned up after himself.  The job was done within the 2 week time period that was scheduled.  Cabinets look great, very high quality.  Appreciate the splurge on soft door closing hinges.  There was one issue where Pat had some difficulty hiding the wiring of our hood and installed it in a way that did not hide the wiring at all.  I was not there for the install and was upset that this was his intended solution, so I wrote to Jason and he was very responsive for making things right.  Ultimately, they refunded me the amount of money that it took for a friend of mine to do the electrical work to hide the wiring ($75) which was appreciated.
I found AWF a good company to work with to have our cabinets refaced.  Our kitchen looks fantastic- much better than it would have been if we just painted our cabinets.  I wish that they would have been able to do the venting work for the hood install, but I realize that this is not their specialty.  Overall, even though it wasn't necessarily cheap, I feel like I got my money's worth from working with this company and would not hesitate to use them again.  I appreciated their responsiveness to my feedback and their willingness to make things right.

    Architectural Justice
This is a review of the installation of our countertops, I wrote a review on 9/25 of the process up to this point.

We were given an installation window (8 - 10 AM) and the installers arrived in that window.  They laid runners throughout the house to protect the floors and carpeting that they would be walking on. They went right to work and we are so happy with the results. Our kitchen is a U-shape with a peninsula and a separate computer desk. As a result, the granite was installed in 6 pieces.  The team did a great job in picking where to make the cuts to ensure that the granite flowed well and that the grain was going in the same direction throughout the kitchen.  The seam we were most concerned about was off the peninsula and the most visible.  We are thrilled with the match and the quality of the installation.

Because we had existing travertine tile on our backsplash, they installed filler strips to raise the height of the cabinets (because the formica we replaced was thicker than the granite).  They also added strips to the front of our cabinets to cover the filler strips.  These were stained to match our existing cabinets and we can't tell the difference - it looks like they were installed with the cabinets.

All the countertops were installed beautifully and we are so happy with our selections and the results.

We scheduled a follow up visit with Denise (our designer) to pick out tile for our backsplashes in the bathrooms and computer desk.  We opted not to do the traditional granite backsplash.  Knowing that we plan to do additional upgrades to our master bath shower and floor next year, Denise helped us with selections for the backsplash as well as ideas of how they would incorporate with our selections down the road.  Because our computer desk is off the kitchen, she helped us select a tile that would compliment the existing kitchen backsplash.  She is very creative and well versed in their product selections and what is trending as well as what will give us the most out of our remodel (for resale down the road).

Our experience with Architectural Justice is that they are a one-stop-shop.  They will be our first stop for all our future upgrades.

    D Stephens Construction LLC
Danny Stephens, owner, D Stephens Construction LLC, did extensive repair and replacement work in our bathroom, including installing a new ceramic tile floor, and a new toilet.  Additionally, he repaired the floor and one wall in the bathroom.  The work was done over the course of several days.  I found Danny very agreeable, and willing to do all the work required.  He was responsive, also.  He returned right away (on a Sunday, no less) when I called him to correct a minor issue I discovered after all the work had been completed.  Most contractors won't do that, once they've been paid.

    JM Design Build
We found their name on Angie's List and sent them an email.  They promptly responded within a day and arranged to stop by.  The gentleman that came out to the house had gone to grade school with our daughter so we were instantly comfortable with him.  We also learned that his business partner is the son of an area builder who had done a addition on our previous home.
I was happy in that we only paid JM Design Build for their labor services.  I was able to obtain all material and supplies on my own, but was able to use their professional discount.  This way I did not have to worry about vendors being paid.  The entire process took longer than we expected but I feel that it was partially our fault as we did not pin them down to a specific completion date.  After all was said and done, the quality of work performed was well worth the inconvenience as Mike Z. did an amazing job overseeing the project, as well as completing an extensive amount of tile work.  Some of their subcontractors seemed to be part of the holdup (plumber and painter) and probably would not recommend them independently.
We are going to be doing another major renovation project in the spring for the rest of the first floor and am having JM Design Build quote the job first.

    Frederick's Floor Covering And Cabinetry
Frederick's is class act in every regard. It's a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere in their store. They were very accommodating in providing me samples on the various times I stopped into the store. It took me a while to make a decision on the floor color, so I was in and out of the store with samples probably more than the average customer. The appointment for the estimate was timely and informative as to what my options were. The installation took 4 days. The installer was a master at his craft. He?was polite, and he was conscientious of keeping my house clean by laying down drop clothes over every area that he walked upon. He kept his tools, the materials and the scrap very neatly organized and confined to small areas.? I could not believe how perfectly he installed the flooring without damaging any walls or baseboards. He had to remove all of the 1/4 round parts of my baseboards (which are painted), and when he replaced them, he did such a good job that?it didn't appear as if they had ever been removed. I thought I was going to have to do some touch-up painting after the job, but there was no need for it. The grout lines are perfectly?parallel with the kitchen walls, and the tiles were cut perfectly to butt up against the cabinet bases where there was no 1/4 round to cover the seam. The grouting was very uniform. The stair noses were also cut perfectly, and they?butted up to the stairwell?walls with no gaps. There were no dents anywhere in the metal stair noses or transition strips. There was one oak transition strip that went from the tiles to my hardwood floors, and it was stained beautifully -?a perfect match. The job is absolutely beautiful, and the Armstrong Luxury tile is warmer on the feet than?ceramic flooring. I already tracked mud into the house, and it cleans up very easily. I am very, very happy with this product and the?whole process.
