Fence Company reviews in Berea

It went really well. A great job for a great price. Excellent quality. Communication could have been a bit better. I would definitely hire this company again and have already recommended it to others.

Thank goodness I put a guaranteed completion date in the contract or it would not have been done on time. The completion date gave them around 3 months to complete. The fence looks as good as any other fence in that category. The biggest problem is that the posts are coming out of the ground after the winter which may be from not properly cementing or proper depth. Frost heave is a common problem in cold areas, but is preventable with proper installation techniques. I would not be writing this if they would come and fix the problem, but they make appointments to come check it out and never do. I have taken time off work to meet them but they do not show. The receptionist keeps telling me they are going to call and I wait by the phone like a school kid, only to be disappointed each and EVERY time. How do they have such a high rating here and with the BBB. A web search for reviews will show that the customer service is sub par. Take this for what it's worth but I would continue to research other companies and products, and stay away from this outfit.

There was a wood that could not be painted last year because it was specially treated and they did come back at the beginning of spring and knocked it out and everything is perfect. They did not charge me on the second visit. They were fantastic. They just do high quality work. Their price was a little high.

I called Ron and made arrangements for him to came out and measured and give us an estimate - four different families were involved - everyone was getting at least a gate and/or section of fence. Ron was very willing to talk with and work with all the different home owners. He divided the estimate and the billed very clearly. Ron also took care of pulling the city permits. Everything went very smoothly at the start.
He told us how much space he needed cleared away from the area where the fence was going to be installed - there were several nice lilac trees and mock oranges we wanted to keep - he said his crew could work around them - in hindsight he agreed grudgingly to work aroung the lilac. We had all the space he stated that was required for installation clear and free of trees, branches, weeds, bushes - we also marked the lilacs and mock oranges that he said they would work around.
The first morning the crew came in and started clear cutting everything. Even after we intervened the crew cut all the lilacs and mock orange bushes. I got the impression Ron likes yards to have grass and nothing else - while that might make it easy to install fences - it is not the look we have/want. I realize he and his crew need space to work but they also need to be flexible and willing to work with the customer and the existing landscape.
Once the installation was complete - I was not impressed with the clean up - not only left cut brush, wood and nails scattered around there were chunks of concrete lying around and large extrusions of concrete around the base of the fence posts. Worst of all a pile of of dirt and stone from the post holes dumped in with a pile of top soil I was using for a vegtable garden. When I pointed this out to the worker he said he thought it was just a pile of dirt and the stuff he added was no big deal. Unfortunately the top soil and post hole dirt was mashed together and mixed up.
Within a month the main single gate was coming apart; the board the gate latch was nailed to came off the gate frame. I called R&M to renail the board I also said I wanted to talk to someone about a few other things. We agreed on a time when I would be home. When I arrived home for the appointment the board/gate had been nailed back on and no one was around.
Double gate was not hung well - it drags and the stop-post gets stuck and is difficult to raise and lower. Another latch on one of the other four gates have come off. We have used wood screws to attach it more securely. The two picket gates do not have the amount of traffic the other gates get which is fine as the latches and hinges are stiff and difficult to use. If they got more use and a healthy dose of WD40 they probable would be smoother and work more easily - maybe.

Got 3 bids, they came in as the lowest, and while they don't have the best reputation, it was worth a shot.  When they drilled the holes for the posts, they didn't clean up the dirt, so I had to go through and rake up 3 loads of dirt, along with cleaning it off a rock garden.  The fencing itself is good, but the installer turned up the pressure on the nailgun too high and punched nailholes through about 1/8th the boards.  To the companies' credit they responded immediately and the same installed came back and repaired the issue.  The thing I noticed this year is that the installed didn't check the crowns in the posts, so the posts look like they're all bent.  But it's not a big issue.  I would use them again, but I sure as heck would keep a closer eye on the installer.

The owner, Matt, is knowledgeable, polite and professional. He provided an estimate and that's what we paid, less the $100 off discount coupon, which was accepted. Scheduling installation was a real challenge. The first day of work was on schedule (post installation) but the second and third to finish the job was annoyingly delayed over the course of a week. Matt the installer (different from Matt the owner) often missed his estimates of when the crew would show up if we were not the first job of the day. The installers made a few mistakes, but corrected all of them (two posts were installed, then removed and relocated). I felt compelled to watch the work to make sure it was built as requested. Our fence is scalloped and I asked them to deepen the dip in the middle between posts.

POOR; QUALITY OF WOOD WAS ONLY FAIR, WORKERS IN BIG HURRY WITH NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL. HAD TO WATCH LIKE A HAWK, THEN POINT OUT MISTAKES AND MAKE SURE THEY WERE REPAIRED. HAD TOO KEEP CALLING TO GET THEM TO COME OUT AND DO JOB.
