Concrete Repair reviews in Berea

Weather pushed the pour onto a day that was bad for me because I couldnt be here to oversee the work as it was being done. Fortunately Steve did everything we had agreed on and a little more, And the work is beautiful! He covered it for cold temps and left them on an extra day. Im 74 years old and this is the best work Ive ever seen. I critique honestly and completely, ant its a pleasure to be able to write this kind of review.

Bill's team worked hard everyday to complete the job. His team removed dead trees and rocks from the property, dug deep trenches and installed a complete drainage system around the garage and yard and attached it to the city sewer system through my neighbor's back yard. He leveled the yard, placed top soil and replanted the grass. He also installed a new driveway with a drain, fixed several city sidewalk areas and installed a beautiful stamped concrete ramp to my front stoop. I am trilled with the results and would hire them again for any work I need in the future. Bill and his team are top notch.

It went very well! They did an excellent, fast, professional job, and they left that part of our lot in very clean shape afterwards. I don't know whether what they charged me is high, average, or low, but they were great to deal with.

I was surprised to return home from errands to see that the sealant was applied even though rain was predicted. Joe left an invoice with a notation that it was applied at 8:30 a.m. with a dry time of 3 hours, which did not agree with the research I had done. Indeed it began raining after noon and continued for most of the day. I contacted Joe to say that I felt the application was not effective due to the rain. I spoke with 2 manufacturers who recommended that another coat be applied. He disagreed, but I held firm that this did not meet the manufacturer's recommendation. He finally agreed to apply another coat. Joe came on a morning where the air temperature was 40, but the temperature had gone down to 32 the night before. I told him that the driveway was still too cold for application of the sealant, but he insisted that it wasn't a problem, in spite of what I knew to be the manufacturer's recommendation. He continued to insist that it wasn't a problem, and I finally backed down and let him apply it. White puddles surfaced in a short time, which is indicates moisture underneath and results in poor adhesion. I could see where he sprayed and it didn't even overlap. I fear that my driveway is still not adequately protected.

I emailed them and called and left a voicemail to have them come out to assess my property. I never was contacted by them to even come out. That was a month ago. Even if they contacted me now I would not go with them. They obviously were not too concerned with gaining my business. I am surprised by the good reviews on your sight of this company because of this experience with them.

I had gotten several estimates from different providers and Great Garage was competitive in price.  The other quotes also didn't include the automatic doors or the vinyl siding.
Some of the plots in Berea are somewhat smaller than in other places, and many of the homes were built with only small, one-car garages.  Tom D'Amico was great.  He walked us through the process, figured how with a two-foot variance we could fit in a two-car garage and arranged the variance meeting with the city and attended it with us.  He was able to keep me informed through texts about where in the process we were, i.e. permits, drawings, etc.  He even set us up financing  with the county's low-interest HELP loans http://blog.cleveland.com/metro/2009/08/cuyahoga_countys_subsidized_ho.html
Once the work started it went quickly.  A team removed our old garage one day.  The next day another team came out and removed the old concrete.  A few days of damp weather delayed the new concrete pour, but in a few days they came back and poured the concrete.  We had to wait for that to set before anything else happened.  But as soon as it set enough, another team hand-carried the materials and laid them out (the concrete hadn't set quite enough yet to bear the weight of vehicles).  The garage went up quickly.  Within a few days the siding and the door were added.
The only glitch was that the electrician had a family emergency, so he came in to hook up the electricity after the electric door had been installed.  When he came a few days later (which was fine with us) we found the electric door was not operating properly. Because there was no electricity available when the door was installed, the workers had no way to check their work.  I texted Tom about this and he responded immediately.  After coming to reprogram the doors himself, it turned out we still had problems to a day later he sent another team to replace the main part of the unit.  Everything works beautifully now  I would say that even this minor problem says a lot of good for the company.  They responded quickly and made good.
I would highly recommend the Great Garage Company to anyone who asked.

Once they got to our house, everything went pretty well.  They're pretty busy and we had actually contracted for them to do the work the summer before our pour and they couldn't get to us.  We're very happy with the driveway.  They did a pretty mediocre job of sealing the driveway, but that's no biggie, we just fixed it up.  But I would definitely recommend them to anyone who asks.

One day was devoted to removal of old cement drive way and side walks.  Guy and his two sons have all the equipment needed to do this properly and efficiently.  Then form boards were installed to form and hold cement along with wire mesh and stone base was compacted. They go to great length to protect my lawn from damage by their equipment by laying plywood paths and splash guards to protect foundation during installation of cement.  Several days latter came cement pouring day which shows their mastery of the process.  Like a finely time ballet of carting, pouring, troweling, smoothing the concrete. Followed by installation of expansion joints and fine texturing of the surface to a handsome finish, I am most impressed.  Sealant was applied on the same day and I payed Guy for a second application as required several weeks later.  A year and a half latter and every thing is still in great shape.

Our area has had several strong rains in the last few years that have overwhelmed our downspouts.  Water has
been leaking into the basement.  Prior attempts to fix the problem have not stopped the water from entering, and Olivieri was
called on 8/4 to give us an opinion on solving the problem and an estimate for doing the repair.  Rocco Olivieri met with us the same day he was called, and began the repair work one day after we authorized it.  He and his crew worked through several difficult problems caused by the overbuilt construction of our house.  It was constructed in 1965 and previous owners had added thick concrete reinforced with steel rebar next to the foundation.   This took significant time and effort to remove.   Olivieri and crew completed the work we initially agreed upon, but it would not have solved the underlying drainage problem.  Significant additional work - nearly double the original distance -  was done excavating the foundation until good drainage tile could be connected to the new footer tile.  Even though the job was larger and tougher than estimated, it was completed in 4 working days and beat two days of heavy rain that followed.  As we agreed when the additional work was authorized, the cost for the repairs increased also.  At
all times during the repair, Rocco and his crew were helpful, answered our questions, and asked our opinions on options.
So far, the basement is dry and cracks in the block walls have closed from the reduced pressure on the outside.  We are very pleased with the work, and we are now ready to begin additional repair projects in the basement.

had to reschedule due to lots of rain this summer, but I felt very safe to have him do the work while I was gone for prox 2 wks after he just began job, he came back later and filled in top soil along new driveway and was as careful as possible with my plantings. He was recommended by a friend and I have received several positive comments on the work he did.
