    Tom Kenney, the salesman, was very knowledgeable and responsive to our needs. The installation crew, Matt and Travis were courteous, clean, and treated our home with the utmost care. We did not meet the trim guy; Dave, but we are very happy with his work as well. We would definitely hire Bockrath again!

    Floor Restore & More LLC

    Bathroom grout not clean everywhere so I am cancelling cleaning in kitchen.  Day of service insisted to use grout mix from 18+ years ago rather than matching existing grout and supplying grout.  I did not know this going into the job.  A true professional should have been able to match grout.  Made no attempt to grout evenly and there are places that the grout is above the tile. 

    Worse yet, he is a slob with little  respect for property.  Admittedly, I am living in a construction zone.  However, that does not excuse mixing and leaving large drying clumps of thinset in a new stainless sink, pouring grout mix all over new granite countertops, leaving dirty handprints on newly painted walls, gouging a newly drywalled and painted wall with his equipment, and not cleaning the utility sink -- leaving grout to dry on sink.

    I have spent many, many thousands of dollars on projects to get my house ready to list.  I expect to pay for quality work but this is about as subpar as you can find.  In the end, I will pay for the work completed although I have to pay someone else to do it all again.

    Mr. Elking was plainly grumpy and difficult to work with.  He lacks the skillset needed to grout tile.

    The installers showed up at the appointed time.  They were very efficient and kept things neat. They returned the second day to  complete the installation. We are very pleased with the carpet and the installation.

    It went very well. 

    It took the entire work-week, spreading the job out step-by-step.  After removing the old floor, a new sub-floor had to be installed.  Laying out the tiles was done very meticulous and the last step was the grouting. The crew of Travis, Derek and Matt let me know each day when they would arrive and what they expected to get done.  They were very reliable and called if anything at all changed.  They were very careful moving appliances.  Also, very good about watching that no snow or salt was tracked in, tricky with the bad weather.  At the end of each day they cleaned up very well, which I really appreciated.  They paid close attention to details and resolved issues like different transitions with various areas or rooms, minor problems with doors that had to be shortened a bit etc.  They answered all my questions and concerns. 

    They were a pleasure to work with and did an excellent job!

    Handyman Matters of Dayton & Cincinnati

    Jason replaced a kitchen faucet.  The old faucet was difficult to remove because of some rust, and contrary to what I first thought, it was not just loose, it had broken off at the handle.  Jason did a good job with this and installed a new faucet without any issues.  He also put back the cover of a bathroom fan that had given me some trouble. 

    Jim replaced the water supply line to my dishwasher, which had apparently developed a small leak.  This leak was discovered while a new floor was installed earlier in the week.  I was very concerned to get the issue fixed quickly and correctly.  Jim identified the problem immediately and replaced the necessary parts with his usual expertise, for which I am very grateful.  He also replaced (2) water filter cartridges in my basement. 

    I continue to have good experiences with Handyman Matters of Dayton and will use them again.

    Job was great from start to finish. Mike did a great job with the quote, Brian insured all details were covered and George and his crew did a superb, and professional job with the demolition and installation. George bent over backwards to make sure we were happy and all the details were completed with perfection. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a top notch renovation.

    First met with sales person in July.  Explained clearly we must stay within our allotted budget for flooring.  We selected our flooring and were told budget "should not be a problem".  The salesperson was provided our budget by the contractor.  Met with salesperson one additional time to select vinyl for powder room and laundry.  Again stating budget must be kept.  Mid-September salesperson measured  for our floors.  Flooring was scheduled for pick-up and install week of 14 October.  On the 14th, Contractor called and informed us the flooring price/invoice he had just received from salesperson was almost double our contracted budget for flooring. 
    For three months, neither ourselves or our contractor had not  heard anything from the salesperson about cost, and felt assured our selection was within budget. We had to make a last minute decision to select different flooring, and our project was delayed as a result. Remodeling is stressful and this situation increased that stress significantly.  We were disappointed that our first selection was out of reach, and very disappointed in the lack of communication by the Bud Polley Flooring salesperson.

    I got three different estimates and decided to go with Lance both because of confidence in quality of workmanship as well as price. We did have some scheduling issues between our two schedules, but they were easily remedied and everything was completed as promised.

    When I first went to the company, I told them of the large scale of the redo. They said they would draw up a design that I would be charged for but would be absorbed in the cost if I went ahead with the plans. They came up with 2 plans, One for the kitchen and one for the rest fo the house since it was so large a job. Unfortunately, they had replanned my whole upstairs with new baths and walls knocked out, etc. when I had already told them that I had a new jacuzzi and new shower stall already put in by another company! Then they said okay we will go with what's there and do what I'd asked. A man by the name of Chad Lakes was put in charge of this project (my whole house) and he was excellent in all that he was given to do and tried so hard to have it done by the time that was quoted to me. They quoted 6-8 weeks and even I knew that was to short a time frame for what needed to be done, so I wasn't really bothered by that. What did bother me was that with all that needed to be done, only Chad showed up everyday and once in a while one other man!!! No crews at all to get this done. I drove to an appliance place they recommended, and ordered my kitchen appliances, drove down to Cincinnati to choose my marble prep island top. When they said we will be doing "this" room tomorrow, I would move my indoor cats and keep them isolated so they could do the work, most times they weren't ready for that room, I had to move them some where else. I even boarded my dogs for a week(Oh The Cost) so they could do the floors when they said they were going to and that didn't work out for that time either. I only got things going when I would call Jeff Hurst and say that things were not going well. Then the very next day, 2-3 men would show up and everything started getting done. Then after about 2 days I was back to just Chad by himself again. "Oh, we have other projects that we are having to finish up." We were without a kitchen for about a good 4-5 weeks. The design, by them, had flaws. One- pantry wall wasn't measured properly and a new cabinet had to ordered that is all but useless it is so small. And a big one for me was the slide out spice cabinet so I could get to them easily while I was cooking. It was designed right next to the stovetop vent, which prevented me from using it at all. They said," well, you okayed the design," but I am not an architect and thought the cabinet was on the side bottom next to the stove top, not above it next to the vent! So I had to pay for another cabinet on the left of the vent to make the cabinets on either side of the sink window even. There are still holes under these cabinets that I found by washing my floor and just happened to look up under the cabinets. Also part of the ceramic tile in a corner was not grouted and I will have to fix that before any water gets there. My 6-8 week job was "finished" in September of 2011!!!( April to Sept.) with basically one man, Chad Lakes, (God bless him) doing the job. I would hire him in a minute again, but not Hurst Total Homes.
