Reasons Why Your Garage Door Opens By Itself

Door Installation reviews in Bellbrook

    Door Depot Of Dayton LLC
Wow--I had no idea there was such a thing--a garage door specialist. He was polite, prepared, very knowledgeable. I will never go back to just getting a random garage door opener at some big box store with a non specialist handyman install. It turns out we have nonstandard sized garage doors so I would have bought the wrong size anyway. Plus it turns out the existing door wasn't actually installed properly. It binds at the top when you try to open it. He knew exactly what the problem was, fixed it right away, no extra charge. I'm pretty sure a random handyman would have had trouble with that. He even sold us an extra door opener remote and programmed it for us--very reasonable price. And the tuneup on the existing door/opener worked like a charm. It's so much quieter and smoother now. Bottom line: money well-spent. Very happy customer!

    Kerrigan Roofing & Restoration LLC
We asked Kerrigan to replace the boots around all the vent pipes on the roof. We could not be home during the repair. Kerrigan asked if it would be OK to leave the estimated payment that they had given us, on the door and they would take care of the repairs. We arrived home to the new repairs and the invoice on the front door. The work was very well done.

    Kettering Overhead Door
Don our salesmen asked us many questions to ensure he put us in the right door and we finally went with the Provia.  I was extremely happy to get this price for the door as I had two other quotes for a Provia door and they were $1000 more...Kettering Overhead Doors have the best prices.
Don came out a few days later and measured and went through all the steps of installation and finalized all the details.  It took 2 weeks for the door to be ordered/made/delivered.  Once they door was delivered KOD scheduled for the door to be installed 2 days later.
The installers showed up promptly at 930 at took about 2 1/2 hours to remove the old door and install the new one.  They did a great job and even installed the ODL add on blinds w/o charge.
The price included the door, hardware, casing, aluminum clad exterior trim, and installation.
I will definitely will be using them to replace my other three entry doors.

The provider arrived on time and proceeded to perform garage door maintenance.  Although we paid for one door the provider tuned both of our garage doors.  The provider gave us some maintenance tips before leaving.

    Dave's Handyman Service
He arrived promptly, behaved in a professional manner, but his work was not what I expected.  The painting was sloppy, uneven and left drip marks.  He attempted to repair bifold doors to the laundry area and that only lasted about three days before the one side was off track again. Although he was a very pleasant person, overall, we were pretty disappointed with the quality of his work.

    Kettering Overhead Door
I would suggest going to the showroom in Kettering. You can see the quality of the front door and storm door before you order. They will come over to your home to measure and confirm your choices later. The salesman was very pleasant and he actually let me order what I wanted. Other salesmen told me I had to get a fiberglass door and it was not a good idea to get a mail slot. Not at Kettering door; steel door was fine and they offered an over sized mail slot. After 2 weeks 3 experienced techs installed my "system". They left my home and deck cleaner than it was before they arrived. They also gave me hints on using the invisible screen storm door.
What i got is a brick red steel front door which is off white inside including molding. The storm door has the invisible screen and is brick colored. The hardware is bronze and also a bronze threshold. All I had to purchase was a doorbell which they installed.  Now my house does not shake anymore when we close the door.  Most important: I never have to paint my door and outside surround framing again. Lifetime transferable guarantee.

    Hurst Total Home Inc
When I first went to the company, I told them of the large scale of the redo. They said they would draw up a design that I would be charged for but would be absorbed in the cost if I went ahead with the plans. They came up with 2 plans, One for the kitchen and one for the rest fo the house since it was so large a job. Unfortunately, they had replanned my whole upstairs with new baths and walls knocked out, etc. when I had already told them that I had a new jacuzzi and new shower stall already put in by another company! Then they said okay we will go with what's there and do what I'd asked. A man by the name of Chad Lakes was put in charge of this project (my whole house) and he was excellent in all that he was given to do and tried so hard to have it done by the time that was quoted to me. They quoted 6-8 weeks and even I knew that was to short a time frame for what needed to be done, so I wasn't really bothered by that. What did bother me was that with all that needed to be done, only Chad showed up everyday and once in a while one other man!!! No crews at all to get this done. I drove to an appliance place they recommended, and ordered my kitchen appliances, drove down to Cincinnati to choose my marble prep island top. When they said we will be doing "this" room tomorrow, I would move my indoor cats and keep them isolated so they could do the work, most times they weren't ready for that room, I had to move them some where else. I even boarded my dogs for a week(Oh The Cost) so they could do the floors when they said they were going to and that didn't work out for that time either. I only got things going when I would call Jeff Hurst and say that things were not going well. Then the very next day, 2-3 men would show up and everything started getting done. Then after about 2 days I was back to just Chad by himself again. "Oh, we have other projects that we are having to finish up." We were without a kitchen for about a good 4-5 weeks. The design, by them, had flaws. One- pantry wall wasn't measured properly and a new cabinet had to ordered that is all but useless it is so small. And a big one for me was the slide out spice cabinet so I could get to them easily while I was cooking. It was designed right next to the stovetop vent, which prevented me from using it at all. They said," well, you okayed the design," but I am not an architect and thought the cabinet was on the side bottom next to the stove top, not above it next to the vent! So I had to pay for another cabinet on the left of the vent to make the cabinets on either side of the sink window even. There are still holes under these cabinets that I found by washing my floor and just happened to look up under the cabinets. Also part of the ceramic tile in a corner was not grouted and I will have to fix that before any water gets there. My 6-8 week job was "finished" in September of 2011!!!( April to Sept.) with basically one man, Chad Lakes, (God bless him) doing the job. I would hire him in a minute again, but not Hurst Total Homes.

    Greater Dayton Construction Group
While designer/marketing person was great to work with, once the job started, things went down hill after the 3rd day. Greater Dayton NEVER committed to a schedule as they promised. The job started in early July and did not finish until late September. Originally, it was estimated to take 6 to 8 weeks. They did NOT finish the job as stated, and when we brought it to their attention, they said it was and quot;good enough.and quot; They gave us a quote to do the work they did incorrectly. I hired a plumber who finished the work for one third the cost Greater Dayton wanted to charge. I brough this to the attaention of the president by mail and got NO response. I will NEVER use them again for anything.
As a result of my posting here, I was contacted by the NEW president of Greater Dayton. I explained the issues I had with the work and that my original letter to Greater Dayton was ignored. He sent out one of his staff and a plumber to look at the parts of the job that I was concerned about. I was very happy with the response and the follow up corrective actions I received.

    Hurst Total Home Inc
Its now like a brand new house and looks wonderful. Its something that I have been wanting for years and we have been married for 33 years. They said that it would take about 5 to 6 weeks to get the work done and I thought that it was fast. However, there are complications that come along with everything. There were some things that came up but whatever they did in the kitchen was pretty good. We still have two more cabinets left. I paid $31340 for the flooring and doors. I also paid $67000 for kitchen remodel, re-painting the dining room and another room, stairs, new railings, hardwood floors in my dining room, family room and stairway and ceramic tile installation throughout the kitchen entryway. All this was for the whole downstairs. I had two and a half baths to be remodeled too. They did the toilet, countertops and the tile in the upstairs bath but the shower was done by someone else. So it was almost $98340 but its absolutely great. They worked with me fairly well. We did have some issues where people didnt show up or got sick which we couldnt really help. They had people show up that hadnt contacted them. These were the subcontractors like the floor people who had just showed up and fortunately I was here. The guy who was in charge of my project had been sick that day and he hadnt informed me that they were coming. They just showed up from Cincinnati and so I asked them to come in to get my floor work done. There were glitches here and there but its kind of hard to get everything together at the right time with such a large contract. The problem I had with them continuously was that there was just one person and he was in charge of my project. A lot of the times he was the only one who came and thats why it took so long to get it done because it was just one person working. When I asked the company about the crew that was supposed to show up to get the work done, they told me that they had other jobs that they ran behind on. So they were finishing them up. There were about two or three people who would show up every time I complained and used to get a lot of work done within a day. Then they told me that it would be better if I could move out of the house so that they could come in and do it all together at once. The guy who was in charge of the construction work told them that I had even boarded my dogs for a week so that they could come in and get the stuff done. I was continuously moving my indoor cats from room to room. I kept them in a separate room so that the workers would have the room available for them to work on. It was really hard and stressful. I think they were trying their best. They used to come right away when I was dissatisfied and asked them to fix a few things. They have still got some touch-up work to do and they are waiting for the final two cabinets. I was expecting a 48 inch window in my kitchen and they put in a 36 inch window. So they had these cabinets that were really small on either side of the window. I asked them as to why the cabinets were only 9 inches wide. I also asked them as to what I could keep in a 9inch wide cabinet. It was ridiculous. So I told them to order new cabinets on either side and I had to pay extra for them. I still have the 36 inch window but it now meets my needs. I had a spice cabinet that I could pull out and I was really excited about it. You just need to pull out and have your spices right by the stove or the stove top that I had. I could pull my spices out while cooking. I pulled out my spice cabinet and the vent was in the way since they had put my vents over my stove top. I couldnt get to the spice cabinet. I originally thought that they had put the spice cabinet on the side and bottom of my cooktop. Evidently, I hadnt read the design properly when they showed it to me and it was over the cook top. However, they too didnt figure out that the vent on the stove would be sticking out. So I couldnt get to the spice rack and it was useless. I told them to take it out. I just have a 9 inch cabinet there now and I cant figure out what I would use it for. Then there was a wall that was measured wrongly by them. They also installed two big pantries with pull out drawers and I was thrilled about that. However, there is a telephone next to it and they had measured the bottom as well as the top cabinets wrongly on that. So they had to fix that too. The woman who designed my kitchen messed up on several different things. They had to reorder those cabinets. It just came in this last week and they installed them. So these were the little things but I guess I could have been really mad because I paid for this design. There were things all over the place. I went to them in February and paid for the kitchen design. Thats when they came up with this design and I was very happy with it. We sat down and we had it designed. Then everything kind of fell apart when they started this project back in April. There were all these little pieces here and there. Of course along the way, I knew there would be things that I myself would change and I would have to pay for it which I did. The color of the rug that I had ordered for one of the rooms was wrong. I then realized that it was the same color that I had in one of my upstairs bedroom. So I had to pay for another carpet and they got that in very quickly. They came out within a week and installed it. That was great since these were all subcontractors. I have been happy with most of the things that they did but there were things like the design flaws with which I wasnt thrilled. There was once when they didnt even show up for two weeks and that was because the guy in charge of my house was sick. It was all legit but they could have had workers show up. He had a list of things that needed to be done and I could have also given him a list of things to be done. I got really frustrated in the last three or four weeks because I had plans for the summer to take my kids and do things. We havent been able to do anything and I have been sitting in my house every single day due to these people. The guy wasnt really motivated when he was here by himself, but they got a lot done when they had two or three people out. He was just like a ball of fire at that time. He used to get two or three things done when he was here by himself and then he would go home at 3:30. He sometimes used to tell me that he would be there till 10 and there were times when he used to sleep in his car for two hours several days in a row. So I informed the company and they told me that he gets an hour for lunch. Thats when I told them that he left at 11 and didnt come back till 1:30. It just seemed a little bit difficult to do things that we had contracted them for. I liked the people I was dealing with since they were very nice. They were very professional when they were here but it was really hard to get the job done. They told me that they would finish the work in the first week of June. However, they couldnt get it done even by the third week and told me that they would finish it by the end of June. Its now the end of July and I am still waiting on the final touch-up. There were times when they left and they hadnt even vacuumed the mats. I went around with my vacuum cleaner and vacuumed the floor. The person who was in charge was responsible for this and I did complain about it. He had a pinched nerve once and he couldnt even move his arms. Then he had a seizure in the parking lot while he was talking to his boss and he could never find out what that was. He also got flu. Then his son fell and slit his head open one day. So it was just one thing after another and I felt really sorry for him. He just left for lunch and never came back. He had told us that he left a message for Jay Hurst and me. However, Jay and I never got any message from him. It was kind of strange that neither one of us got a message from him. I was concerned since I wondered if he had an accident. Then Jay called me later that night and told me that the guy was in the hospital with his son. So things like that can happen and may be he didnt call since he was really shocked. They did the job fairly well when they showed up to do the work but now it has taken really long. I was sitting down looking at a bookcase which had nails that they had put through. It was by the end of my island. So they have to repair that and I dont know how they are going to do it because its one solid piece that is a part of the island. They did show up to get things done when I did talk to them but it was getting very frustrating. In fact, there was one point where I paid a week ahead. I paid fifteen thousand dollars in one week. It was supposed to be $7500 and another $7500. I informed them that I would pay for two weeks in advance because I had an appointment on the day I was supposed to pay them. Their price was very good and they worked with me. The cost of the design was included in the price when I signed the contract. So I didnt lose that. I felt that I got a good deal and they had added things that they helped with. They even asked me if I wanted lights in the room because I am in one of these older houses which require hanging lights towards the corners. I thought that it would be absolutely wonderful. So they said that they would install the lights when I buy the ceiling fans and the lights. They then installed it in every single room for only $225 which was great. Their workmanship was very good. They were responsive since the people showed up the next day itself after I called to inform that I needed people at my house to get the work done. They were being pulled out of their work sight. They were on time and came out when they said they would come out. I will think about using their services if I have to get an overall reconstruction done. I would tell them to give me a better time frame.
