Does a Painting Estimate Really Matter?

House Painting reviews in Bedford

    Ace Custom Painting
We are extremely pleased with the job performed by this company. Jesse responded quickly to my original call and give us an estimate shortly after that was very reasonable. He came to perform the job exactly when promised, was very professional in every way, and the result was even more impressive than we had hoped for. Jesse went the extra mile to make sure we were completely pleased with every aspect of the job. Would highly recommend.

The house looks great. Reno was very punctual, affable and efficient. He knocked out the house in two days in between raindrops. He did a great job and was very detail oriented. He was very, very careful not to overspray paint onto anything. He even spent a little time playing with our two dogs. Great guys, great company. I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

    Delauro Remodeling & Repair Co
I had plumbing, electrical and carpentry work done on my bathroom by Delauro Remolding. Although the ending cost was more than I initially intended to spend, I was very satisfied with my ending results. I now have a beautifully finished updated bathroom. Mr Delauro and his team were very professional about the work but also very friendly. I would definitely use them again for future projects as well as recommend them to others.

I contacted Northcoast College Painters several times (3-4) within the last 4 weeks to have them give me an estimate to paint awnings, and an outdoor deck area for a recent home flip my business is conducting.  They have a 24 hour answering service that provides no help with any questions; they simply take a message and say that they will give it to them and that they should get back to you.
To date I have never received an estimate.  I did request a specific address and email for the estimate to be sent to since the home is not occupied, and I left this information with their answering service each time but have not heard from them after several contacts.
And before the owner states that I called another "college painting company," I checked the address and it is the correct one listed above in their information block.

    Neubert Painting
Start day was changed three times.  Finally told they would be there noon on 7/19.  I left work early to be there but they never showed.  Called the office around 1:15 and they were surprised to hear that no one showed up yet.  Received a call about a hour later from the crew foreman that they would be there around 3:15 to drop off their equipment.  I asked if they are going to start painting and I was told no, they were just dropping off the equipment.  Creew arrife about 3:30 and unloaded.  I asked again about starting to paint since it was my understanding they worked until 5pm.  I was told they didn't want to "mask" the house since it might rain.  They would be back tomorrow to start, 9/20.  It rained the next day so they did not start.  Crew returned on Tuesday, 7/23, 8:45 and finally started.  They must have went to lunch around 11:30 because I couldn't find them outside.  They returned about a hour later.  Soon after, I saw them  moving ladders around but didn't think aything of it.  Then the next thing I see out my front window is the the 2 painters getting into their car.  I ran out and asked what was going on.  I then felt that there was a slight drizzle.  They said they couldn't paint in the rain.  That they rang my doorbell but no one answered.  I told them my bell was broken but they should have knock.  They knew I was home.  I couldn't believe they would walk off the job with out saying anything to me.  Another day with very little progress.  They returned on Wednesday 7/24 around 8:45.  I left work at noon to check on the progress and thing were finally progressing.  They did not finish that day but they said they should finish on Thursday 7/25.  Left work early on Thursday only to be told that they ran out of paint.  What?!  Plus they had to leave early to attend a meeting at their office.  Who pulls a crew off a job that is already behind?  I told them I could not miss anymore time from work for this.  They wanted me to just leave a check taped to the door for them the next day when they finished.  I told them I wasn't paying until I inspected the job.  I had to take time from my job to run home and look everythng over on Friday, 7/26 so that I could pay them.
First, let me say that my house looks great.  I do not have a problem with their skills as painters, but their customer service skills leaves alot to be desired.  I spoke to the sales rep who I contracted with and he sited the weather as a big issue.  I understand that we had alot of rain around this time but when the weather was good for painting, they didn't start on time or had to leave early or ran out of paint.
Again, my house looks great but I would not recommend this company.

The service turned out wonderful. I would definitely recommend them. They were very polite and professional. They kept me informed and they did a couple of repairs that I paid additionally for. My neighbors and myself love the work they provided. I would definitely use them in the future. I had other estimates and it was not even a matter of price. The way he acted in my home was the reason for choosing his service.

I set up a time for Mark to come to give me an estimate on  small job that would have only taken a day to complete. The day came but he didn't show up. I called him and he admitted that he forgot about the appointment. He said he would just send a guy out that Monday to do the job and it would be $30.00 an hour. I had no problem with that. I called him on Saturday and Sunday to confirm and to get a start time. He never answered his phone. I called Monday morning (1) and that was proof to me that he never had any intentions on doing the job.  I have no problem with someone telling me that they are to busy or the job is to small, but to string me along for no reason is unacceptable.  I even told him that I had an inspection that week and the job needed to be finished by then. Maybe it was a good thing that he didn't start my job.

The crew arrived at about 9am, including Marc, as he had promised.  I appreciated the fact that Marc was here and working throughout the project instead of just sending a crew.  I also like the fact that he did not sub-contract the job.  Everyone was polite, professional and did a good job.  The crew applied a semi-translucent stain by brush to new pine siding on our garage and workshop addition, caulked around 7 windows, 3 doorways and all corners and trim pieces.  They did additional work requested by me of scraping and painting the garage door, window and 3 door jambs.  Marc told us to take a walk around the garage and workshop to make sure that everything met with our approval before we paid him.  My husband thought the caulker maybe could have used a little more practice.  In all, there was a lot of caulking to be done on this structure and a few areas got missed.  My husband spotted those areas and Marc finished them up before they left.  We were both pleased with the work and happy that Marc accepted the job on rather short notice and late in the season.  We will have him back when it is time for another coat of stain.  Beyond his work, Marc is a very genuine and trustworthy person, whom I would have no reservation in recommending.
