Home Energy Audit reviews in Beachwood

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service. Everything went fine. I paid an additional $400-some because they had them do something, like grounding. They were great. I talked to several folks there and everybody was very helpful and courteous. The guy who did the original evaluation gladly came out and did the work, and he was really great. I think it would have been nice if they had the extra fee spelled out.

This was basically a sales/estimate for $49. The technician took a look at my attic and basement. He was knowledgeable and spent time explaining the concept of air sealing and had me look at a quick video and provided some information that went into more detail. However, this was information that I was familiar with, so did not really learn much. I was provided a quote for air sealing the basement and attic and adding insulation to the attic...again, i knew these items were needed as i had been provided this information for FREE by another contractor and had researched this on government websites. The quote i was given was much more than my other quote even though there was $500 taken off the cost. I came to find out that the $500 credit towards home efficiency products is only when a large efficiency "package" is purchases. What kind of a deal is that Angie!

I definitely do not feel that Angie's List should be selling this as a Big Deal, which are usually pretty good deals, this is not. i received no value for the $49. It's ironic that Angie's List was established to protect the consumer and now they are enabling this type of rip off.

Of note is the fact that one of the items recommended in my "energy package" was a radiant barrier installed in the attic. I did some research on this and energy.gov indicates that it only reduces heat gain in the summer and is only cost effective in warm climates (florida, Texas, etc.) the salesperson immediately took it off the estimate without offering any defense as to why he would recommend it for Cleveland in the first place since the cost of this one item was hundreds of dollars. The company should not be telling people to get this product. This is very unprofessional and dishonest. Beware!

While there was some delay in getting the actual work on the calendar, once we firmed up the date, the work was done promptly and professionally, and it has made an extraordinary difference in reducing the draftiness and increasing the temperature in our house. I am extremely pleased with Leigh Weinberg and Comfort MD and can't wait to see our next heating bill.

Brian is very professional. He is clearly very interested in what he does, and his follow-up is very thorough. He was instrumental in helping us figure out the scope of work for having our attic insulated, and sorting through the quotes we got from insulation contractors. Brian's work is meticulous, and we would highly recommend him to anyone needing to make their house more comfortable and energy efficient.

Nothing more to say. They did exactly as promised. They were neat and efficient. I woud recommend them to others for the audit. After that, it's up to each individual. What I consider high, others might not. Definitely have the audit completed.

I selected ESCS after reading the positive reviews on Angie's list. It all started because I have major snow-melt from my roof causing giant icicles all around the house. In addition, it felt cold in the house in winter at reasonable thermostat settings. The energy consumption (especially the gas for heating) has been quite high. We spent about $1500 on attic insulation but it felt like money down the drain since it made absolutely no difference. Before doing more guess work and spending more money trying to address the problem, we decided to have an energy audit done. Brian from ESCS was very professional and friendly, and he performed his evaluation and testing and provided a very detailed report. He spent quite a bit of time explaining why major aspects of the existing heating system are really bad and what the different options are for improving/remedying the situation. Before the audit, we really struggled to decide what was the most cost-effective way to address the problem - for example, whether to replace the old furnace, or the old windows. Brian said old windows are not our main problem, but a terrible heating system (and duct work) and lack of insulation are the main culprits. Of course, it still wasn't easy to determine the best way to move forward since there was no easy fix, and I sent Brian follow-up questions which he responded to in great detail. In the end, we decided to abandon the existing heating system and install a brand new system. Brian was available for consultation during the whole process, and even did a re-test (free of charge) where he examined the newly installed system and uncovered a few issues which the HVAC contractor promptly addressed (they had spoken to each other before the installation as well). In the end, I can't say for sure if the new investment made as a consequence of the audit would solve all the problems related to energy & comfort at my home (I would have a better idea after I use the new system the next winter), but I am convinced that this was at least a major step in the right direction.

Brian is very professional and easy to work with. He had someone with him to help and they were both great throughout the entire job. They were at my house ~4 hours. He gave me some great tips for energy saving and does a good job at highlighting which problems are the most urgent. He let me tag along throughout the entire audit which was very helpful. He gives a very detailed report including many pictures that are helpful. I received some great information on ways to increase the efficiency of heating/cooling my house. If you need help identifying problem areas I definitely recommend ESCS.
