    Keselman Construction Group, Inc
Fantastic quality, reliable, caring, honest people. Keselman was an absolute pleasure to work with. We have already done another job with them after the addition. I have recommended them to many people.

Have Terry Sharanvych of DeckMasters build your deck! In the early spring of 2018, we visited two home shows at the IX Center and collected several leads for deck builders. We interviewed 7 builders and liked Terry the best because of: - his passion for quality; - his enthusiastic nature; - his attention to detail; - his willingness to guarantee the workmanship; - his guarantee of all the products installed; - his price. Terry also introduced us to Fiberon deck composites, which after much research on my part, was clearly the best composite choice. He suggested a vinyl/composite lattice for the skirting, which made perfect economic sense rather than installing expensive deck boards vertically. We looked at a lot of railing systems and Terrys recommendation of Duralux was the perfect choice for looks, strength, and rigidity. We were also impressed that Terry installed joists on 12 centers rather than everyone elses 18 centers. As composites are known to be somewhat spongy, this seemed like an essential technique and by the way, our Fiberon deck is as solid as a rock. All the other builders were concerned about maximizing the lengths of deck boards, (to save money) but Terry wasnt concerned at all he said any short leftover pieces would just go back into his stock for his next project. Also, other deck builders were adamant about attaching the deck to our house (I think to save a little money for posts), Terry was nonplussed on the issue and said it was our preference attached or not attached no difference in price. Terrys workers showed up early, worked hard, and cleaned up any mess they were delightful. They were also really quick and efficient. We had one issue. On a side set of stairs we wanted it to be 5 risers high, but when they roughed it in, they built it for 4 risers high. I called Terry and he said, no problem and they fixed it no charge, no discussion. The final 450 sq. ft. deck is gorgeous. We choose Fiberon Ipe, which is a soft reddish brown mottled color with a darker frame of Fiberon Rosewood around the outside. The railing is a dark brown and everything blends perfectly in our enclosed and shady back yard. The composite boards are installed with this amazing sideways screw machine, so there are no screw heads anywhere on the main deck perfect for bare feet. Also, another typical knock on composite decks is that they heat up. Maple trees in our yard shade our deck and even on the hottest days we have never noticed any warmth on our feet. (A deck in the direct sun, may be different?) Oh and I should mention that Terry was the LEAST EXPENSIVE of all those we talked to. Best quality, best builder, best price how can you get better than that?

Terry was a pleasure to work with. He was courteous, punctual and approached both jobs like a seasoned veteran. From the very beginning, his knowledge and craftsmanship was evident, as he gave us options with the deck that we never would have thought of, and that made a huge difference in looks and functionality. Both deck and balcony, as well as woodwork around our patio, were finished at the beginning of the first snow and ice in the winter, but that did not seem to slow down his group of tireless and friendly workers. With spring and warmer weather here we are now able to fully appreciate all they have done and would highly recommend their services!

The Deck Doctor House Medic & Painting Too
More repair was needed than we first expected. There was more damage under the deck than at first thought, so cost of materials and labor went up. I'm pleased they found the additional problems and were able to solve them. Repairs and painting was of excellent quality. Would use again. But sometimes scheduling was hard to nail down. They appeared to be a bit overwhelmed with orders. But when they did the work it was fine.

    The House Doctors
I shopped a coupon from Angie's list for $99 for three hours of general carpentry work.  I thought that it would be good enough to put on a single wood panel on the exterior wall and repair a small area of deck. I waited one week before a lady called me to schedule a time.  She told me that I had to get all the materials ready myself.  After two more weeks, a guy showed up with a compact car.  He apparently did not even have a ladder to do the work. Instead, he tried to give you a lot of reasons that much more work would be needed and came up with a cost estimate in the amount of $2000.  This is a scam.  I would never recommend to buy any coupon from this company.

    Barski Hardscaping
Our experience with Great Escapes was terrific.  Brandon, the owner visited our home twice prior to the start of the project and produced multiple renderings for us to contemplate.  Even though late spring, early summer is the busiest time for this type of business, he remained very responsive to calls, email and texts.  Brandon is courteous, professional and kind and is extremely knowledgeable.
The first task that had to be accomplished was removal of an old deck.  We did not know what was underneath but discovered that there was a concrete slab that needed removal.  Brandon quickly adjusted by finding the right vendor to haul away the material and procuring the correct equipment to do the job.  Brandon was very transparent about the additional cost that we would incur due to the unexpected discovery and communicated well throughout.
After preparing the area, Brandon personally graded the space for optimal water management and his crew took great care to be sure the foundation was prepared just right.  After the foundation was set it took a few days for the pavers to be laid, the pergola to be build and the beds to be created.  From beginning to end the whole job took about 8 days.  Brandon and his crew took great care to get the job right and it is evident that they take great pride in their work.
We would definitely use Great Escapes again and would recommend them to anyone contemplating this sort of project.

    Steven Shick Designer Builders
We approached Steve with a rough idea of what we wanted and
where we wanted it.  A couple of days
later he came back with a design that pretty much met our needs.  After agreeing to a few changes, Steven and
his son Brian proceeded to build our deck.
The whole process took about a week.
As an after thought Steven came up with the idea of building a short
side walk out of treated lumber.  We
liked the idea and he built in a day and a half.
I enjoyed working with Steven and Brian and would use them
again when the need arises.  His work has
held up well, he cleaned up nicely when he was done and he was easy to work

    Wakut Construction Inc
Very prompt in providing both a written estimate and completing work.  Pricing was competitive.  I thought they were very considerate to split the job to allow the foundation repair.  Communication was good throughout the process.  Handled everything professionally including the city permits and inspections.

I had used Wakut several years prior to refurbish my garage (new siding and trim, and replace 2 garage doors).  I was very happy with this prior work and was confident to call them again for this job.  One of the things I liked best, was that Wakut gets the job done on schedule and completely -- not dangling little things on for weeks -- cleans up nicely, and inspections scheduled the next day.  Wakut also listened to what I needed and was very good at getting things done the way I wanted.

    Borowske Builders Inc
Timely, professional, and quality work. The job estimate in time and
money was right on and the deck is beautiful. We love it and can hardly
wait to show it off to family and friends. Forget the urban legends
about unreliable builders, this is a first class group that ONLY does
    first class work.
My initial call for an estimate was answered almost the day it was placed. Don gave us design ideas (his were better than ours)
and a realistic start date. The crew was on time EVERY day and we were provided a time line for each step.
I am so glad I called Borowske Builders and if I have another project they will be the only call I make.

I called TJ and told him about a couple of minor issues.  He said mark the areas and he would be out sometime during that week.   As promised and without having to call and remind them, the work was done and done perfectly.  This is the type of customer service that I wish everyone provided.  There would not have to be an Angie's list if everyone treated their customers like T. J. Farinacci Inc. does, time and time again.  Thanks for your excellence once again!
