Lighting Installation reviews in Avon Lake

    Hare Electric inc
Hare Electric did a great job, even improving our light fixtures by installing a backboard especially made for vinyl siding. The new lights work well and look good. The technicians were pleasant and efficient, leaving the areas clean when they left.

Don was on time. Actually he came a few minutes early. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. He was extremely attentive and detail oriented. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone. Highly experienced and a very nice man. I've never had a better experience with home repairs/ updates.

    Work completed:

Replaced pull strings for closet lighting. Installed new Ceiling fan. Replaced/ Repaired Bathroom Fans. Installed new stove hood. Replaced bathroom lighting and relocated vanity light.

First thing, Adam went over the to-do list and we prioritized it as I did not expect they would get through the whole list.  He and his associate each took a task and went right to work.  As they finished each item, they told me their progress and went on to the next item.  Although I was home all day, I would have no hesitation leaving them at work while I was out - they did not need direction or explanation on each item.
Adam offered useful alternatives to a couple of things I wanted done that would not have worked as well the way I had planned.  The work was done better and faster than I expected.
My kitchen faucet was acting odd and Adam took the time to call the manufacturer and find out just what he needed to do to get it right.  There was nothing on my list he was not willing to take on.  They even swept out the garage!
Their price was higher than some of the other deals offered, but after reading the reviews I decided to go with Neatnics and am glad I did.

Took care of everything right away. However I had some issues with pricing.  When Chris came over, said we had old light bulbs.  He recommended $40/piece LED lights ended up being charged $50/ bulb (27 total).  Advised that lights are supposed to last 10 years, Ive had 3 go out in the last year. Chris advised could always go to Home Depot to exchange for no cost which I did.   Researched the cost of the light bulb with Home Depot, they advised me that the LED lights never cost above $23.00 per light bulb. Feel that pricing was really high and I was taken advantage of.  After researching other member reviews, the average price per recessed lighting can he charged others was approximately $200.00 per can, I was charged $260.00 per can on my receipt.  I felt that I was overcharged $2000.00 for this project.

stone hearth and custom designed woodwork mantle. The fourth project was the demolition  an existing 600sf deck and replacement of a AZEK deck including LED lights on all posts.

The projects were completed on time and within quoted price. Mark and his crew did an excellent job of cleanup and protecting the house while completing these major projects. The workmanship was excellent and Mark made several suggestions during the projects that enhanced the outcome. He was onsite everyday and involved in all aspects.I would not hesitate to recommend Mark and his company.

We originally hired Hare Electric using a coupon from  Angie's List to repair an outlet at our previous house a few months ago.   We have recently moved and our now current home had out- of- date light fixtures that needed to be replaced in the dining room, foyer, bathroom, hallways, etc. There were also a few outlets that needed to be repaired.  The crew arrived on time as promised, answered questions, made suggestions for future improvements, was very professional, and cleaned up after themselves.   They completed the work in a timely manner and the price was acceptable.   We definitley will use Hare Electric in the future and will recommend them to others.

While the solutions were relatively straightforward and quickly dealt with, the team was knowledgeable and professional.  Only preference would be to have non-smoking workers, but not a huge deal.

The work initially went well and Fred was personable and comfortable to work with.  He was good at planning and communicating.  He cleaned up each day and went out of his way  to maintain some usability to our kitchen despite the extensive tear out.  As the work progressed and cabinets were installed, problems started to crop up.  First,  after most of the cabinets were already installed, we realized that there were two different style cabinets provided by the supplier.  The difference was obvious if you looked closely and it is surprising that Fred didn't realize the error before he installed them.  Never the less, the cabinets had to be replaced at the supplier's expense and, after 6 weeks delay, Fred removed them and reinstalled the replacements.  Shortly after this was completed we started taking a very close look at everything and we realized that several of the cabinet doors had defects in the finish.  After consulting with the cabinet manufacturer's representative, it was decided that several of the doors would be replaced. Again after some delay new doors were provided and Fred installed them. After the cabinets were finalized, the counter top supplier measured for and then delivered the counters in three pieces.  Unfortunately, one of the pieces was cut in error and Fred sent it back to be redone.  This resulted in more weeks of delay.
Finally, Fred was able to start on the back splash tile.  When he returned to our house after several weeks of absence he was like a different person.  He hardly said anything and seemed obviously upset.  He worked silently and when spoken to said the minimum in response.  When I asked what had gone wrong or what we might have done to upset him, he said only that he was behind schedule.  He seemed to be rushing and his workmanship became shoddy in contrast to that at the beginning of the project.  The whole last week he worked in our house was like that,  and then a new problem cropped up.  One of the final steps to finish the cabinets was the installation of crown molding.  Fred started on this and when I looked in on him I realized that the crown molding was the wrong color.  In fact, two pieces of molding that were installed did not even match each other, let alone the cabinets.  When we pointed this out to Fred he said that this was just the variation in the wood.  When we asked him to stop the install while we consulted with the supplier he left and never returned.  The supplier eventually agreed with us and new crown moldings were ordered.  When these materials were available I contacted Fred and he told us that he was finished working in our residence due to all the "changes".  He never did return and I was forced to hire someone else to finish the crown moldings and a few other remaining items.
I must mention that throughout the ordeal during that last week, my wife and I remained most patient and understanding, thinking that perhaps something else in Fred?s life had gone terribly wrong.  We could not understand how someone that we judged to be so upstanding could change so drastically.  The most surprising thing was that Fred actually accepted our payment in full for the the kitchen rehab and then failed to complete what little was left to do.   Unfortunately, because of the drastic change in his demeanor and workmanship, and because we are now forced to hire another contractor to complete the job, my wife and I could not in good conscience recommend Fred as a contractor who can be trusted.

Ryan did a good job.  I did not have a good start point for this project and Ryan's design helped a lot.  He also gave me a competitive quote to do the construction.  I may have him do some of the carpentry.
