    MARDAN CEMENT CONTRACTORS
Dan was a great contractor. He was fair and honest from the beginning with the estimate, the scheduling, updates as to when he was going to start the job and through the whole process of tearing out concrete and pouring. Everything was spelled out on the estimate and in writing. Any extras he might have to do was in there so there would be no surprises when he was doing the job. Ended up we need a lot of extras but we knew cost and were no surprises when we got the bill. He was on the job everyday so no contract employees to deal with. If he had questions about what we wanted he asked and we worked out the details. We made some changes on the fly and he was able to do them. We had bad drainage pipes and he needed to put on new ones and we knew the cost before hand. So it was easy to tell him go ahead because Dan knew if it was not done he would be back in couple years to fix the concrete again because the base would fail due to water under it that is the homeowners responsibility to do. He ended up adding 190 feet of drain tile we did not think we were going to need when we started the project but we ended up needing it because our drive collects all our water and the neighbors yard water. The driveway actually flooded overnight as he was removing the old concrete so it need all the drain tile to make it last. I have to say our yard has never been drier. We made the right call. He also recommended how we should do our sidewalk to eliminate steps and make it look great. We are so happy with Dans job that we recommend him for anybody wanting new concrete. He is a great guy and he is an honest man. We would have him work here again if we need more concrete poured. Give him a call. You will not be disappointed in his work.

    Koontz Construction
I looked for 20 years for someone to repair my bowing/disintegrating foundation/basement wall of my near century home. I found the right team at Koontz. Granted, I had to wait a bit, but it was worth it. They began by getting everything approved by the city and the Landmark Commission. They excavated and demoed the existing wall to footer depth, formed and poured a new footer, built a new wall, and added brick veneer. They also installed new windows, perorated drain tile and new window wells. The surprise came when they inspected existing the downspout pipe and found blockage, so they installed new downspout drain and tied in 3 additional downspouts. Every step of the way they tried to accommodate my persnickety requests, saving my plantings and my existing brick so I could repurpose. They even helped me fix my wheelbarrow. Everyone was delightful, courteous, and respectful.

They gave us a quote, and then we didn't hear from them until they showed up to do the work. Quality of the work and the professionalism of the workmen were exceptional.  Not a lot of communication prior to the job.

A1 Concrete Leveling & Foundation Repair
They answered the phone first time, arrived for an estimate on time, and turned in the lowest bid.  They did the job for the quoted price.  They left no mess.  We paid them and then later realized we had a coupon and hadn't used it.  They honored it. Would recommend.

Overall I'd say that they did excellent work. Guy was prompt to come visit the job site at my first inquiry in June, and his office was glad to keep me informed of my place in the queue during this very wet summer of 2014. They worked with me as I needed to add into the mix an electrician for some external work that could best be done in conjunction with the concrete tear out and pour, and were willing to go the extra mile in terms of some trenching that needed to be done for the secondary job for a minimum uptick in the original quote. During the actual job I was dealing with a broken foot and they were careful to provide solid footing for me to get into the house during the job.
In terms of the plan that I had to reshape my front entry way and attach a patio area in the back: Guy quickly caught on to the vision and was able to provide just what I wanted. He was also able to deal with a drainage issue that I had under the driveway and repaired it easily. I had also asked for rebar to be added to my site due to some settlement issues, and again, he met this request and came up with the best plan for my site.
The only truly negative part of my experience (and the reason for the B in professionalism) was a lack of communication over the need for a working external electrical outlet. Rather than contacting the owner (Guy) or myself to correct the issue, the actual work team chose to plug into my neighbor's external outlet without permission, which created an issue with my good friends. When Guy discovered from me the choice that the work team made he apologized and offered to make it right. At the end of the job the team left my property free of their work debris, did some leveling of the dirt and clay clumps in the gardens adjacent to the concrete, and also replaced the grass that was carefully dug out at the sides. I need to remove my broken drainpipes from their carefully stacked place, but this would be expected.
I would recommend them to all, with the warning to make sure that you have your external outlets on at the start of the job.

Guy responded quickly with initial follow up phone call and came right away for a quote. We had a couple more contractor's come out and give us some ideas. Called Guy and asked if he could do those for us and he did. Some rain delay, as this is a very wet summer, but, came out as soon as he could, kept to his customer time line. When Guy showed up we asked him to remove some concrete from our stone patio we took apart and add two steps and he did everything we asked. Rained during our week, but, Guy came back and finished the job Friday and Saturday. It started raining after the driveway was poured and he flew back to our house from another job nearby to see if the drive needed to be covered. The driveway was sealed so all was good. Overall Guy knows his craft and his Dad is adorable. Answered all our questions and office staff, Lisa was great.

    ArtCrete Ltd
Artcrete was very responsive to our request for an estimate.  When Eric, the owner, came to our home he provided us with many photos of jobs they had completed.  He also provided us with copies of his Bond, insurance and BB paperwork.  He was very honest about when the job would be scheduled and he completed the job on time. When we were designing the patio he didn't upcharge us for things like a contrasting border etc.  He quoted us a price and allowed us to be as creative as we wanted to be with texture, colors etc.  His team showed up on time and they were very pleasant and courteous.  The job took about 3 days to complete.  We placed two calls to the office with some general questions and all calls were returned in a timely manner.  His crew did an excellent job cleaning up after the construction.  They pressure washed not only the new patio but our entire driveway.  Eric was very knowledgable about stamped concrete and went the extra mile to ensure both my husband and I were satisfied.  We would definitely used them again and  would highly recommend Artcrete.

Advance Masonry & Full Chimney Service Inc
I'd highly recommend them.  They were very professional in what they did.  They actually took the chimney completely apart and rebuilt it.  The house was built in 1965 and the bricks are a different size today so they took the chimney down to as low as the roof and built it up.  They had to go in a half inch all the way around because of the dimension of the chimney and change in brick.  They did a very good job and they explained why my chimney had deteriorated and it was because it had never had a proper cap on it.

    Dan Shrock Cement Work
No services were performed, just attempting to get a bid without mass confusion was enough, said he would come out and give an estimate then never showed, when I called someone answered saying one moment while he was yelling in the background saying , why do you always do this to me. said he would come out after he put gas in his pickup, but again never made it and called saying it would be later. when he did show , he was late and had no interest in what I was saying but only cared what he wanted. Don't waste your time with this guy or company cause My experience with him was terrible.

    Oakwood Construction
He does masonry, chimney and concrete work. He did a good job but he was very slow. We were patient. He is really busy. I think he had a couple of other jobs going. He would work here and then he would take off for a couple of days. However, if I called him in the morning to check if he was going to come, he would answer his phone right away. He was very responsive when he was slow. His price was very, very good. He charged us what he said he was going to charge us; $650. I think we would use him in the future. We just have to be patient. He had received reviews from a lot of people who said he was slow but did excellent work; just like we thought.
