Chimney Repair reviews in Aurora

Crew arrived on time and set-up scaffolding and prepared the work area. Damaged bricks were replaced with others that matched the 60+ year old originals. Work area was completely cleaned before the crew left. Crew was as quiet as could be with no yelling, swearing, smoking or unsafe activity. All equipment was in good working condition and more than adequate for the tasks. We are very pleased with the results.

When we initially contacted Ray Arnold Masonry for an estimate we were pleased to see the gentleman brought a ladder and actually inspected chimney, he did not just eye-ball it from the ground. A few days later we received a detailed estimate on needed work and costs. On the night before the scheduled day we received a courtousy call reminding us the work would start at 8:00 the next morning. Caleb and Walker arrived as scheduled, introduced themselves and promptly began erecting their scaffolding and prepared the work area. They then chiseled away the cracked brick and deteriating mortar. A third gentleman, George, arrived and thouroughly inspected everything and began the restoration/rebuild of our chimney. They had carefully matched the 62 year old brick that needed replacement and preserved the original sandstone accent pieces. They matched the original details of the chimney's brick pattern when reconstructing it. It looks wonderful. The crew was quiet as their work permitted, no yelling and no swearing. They had no jobsite radio. No one smoked or chewed tobacco products. The three gentlemen were courteous to my wife and me and our little yappy dog. Their vehicles were parked so they would not interfere with our neighbors' routines. Afterwards everything in the work area was swept clean and hosed down. All material was picked up and the area looked great. Ray Arnold Masonry rocks!

I hate leaving negative reviews for companies, especially when I never get a chance to talk to anyone. Right here at the beginning let me state the obvious, this company has 85 positive reviews at the time of this post. Their positive to negative ratio is excellent and purely based on the reviews that I've read I suspect they do good work. I sadly will never find out, I do not subscribe to the 1960s philosophy of the "Tin Man", if you're older than 50 then you will know what that means. I'm a very busy executive and my wife works swing shifts at a hospital making it nearly impossible for us to schedule a sit-down meeting with some home-improvement salesman who wants to give me his dog and pony show. I call this company on June 1, 2017 because one of my neighbors use them to replace the shake shingle on their home with asphalt shingle and it looks nice. The woman I spoke to was irritatingly condescending to say the least, and completely dismissive when I said that I only had a few questions that I needed answered before I was willing to talk to a salesperson. I have a very large shake roof and 38 double hung windows on my colonial that need to be replaced. One would assume that any company would be enthusiastic about quoting this job. I gave every opportunity for this woman to simply pass my contact information along to someone who can answer questions only to be refused with the statement that "that's not how we do things, we set the salesperson out to talk to you and your wife." I could not have been clear with this person that that was not an option and that I don't need the sales pitch. If they don't sell wood windows I'm not interested, if they don't do shake I'm not interested, and if they won't be professional when a prospect calls and they can find a different customer. I hope the owner sees this post because the only way that I have to judge his company is based on the person that I talked to when I call in. Very unprofessional.

Bravo Home Improvement did tuck-pointing on 2 chimneys and painted a dormer. I have a typical Lakewood colonial and I had a difficult time finding someone that would tuck-point the chimneys because of the height and steep roof. Jason Bravo responded immediately and came out to give an estimate. He was very professional and did a great job at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend.

It was a Big Deal offer.  It went very well.  He was on time and did the job.  I was happy.  It was the first time used them.  He was very clean and efficient.  I was worried that it might be a dirty job.  I was very happy with it.  The cleanup was excellent.  The price was very reasonable.

I have no idea if this company is capable of providing the services that they advertise because the owner, Tony, stood me up on the estimate. They have a lot of feedback and the pricing seems reasonable based on other members experiences so even after reading a number of negative reviews about being unprofessional I called three times to get Tony on the phone once. We talked at length about exactly what I needed and he agreed stop by that afternoon to take a look at my chimney for an estimate. Because of the other feedback I specifically asked him to call me even if he got busy and wasn't able to make it, he gave me his word that he would. He "no call, no showed". I expect this type of behavior from 20 yr olds working their first job at a restaurant not a businessman.
Three days gone by and I haven't heard a word from them even though I've called each day and left voicemails. This guy is a terrible businessman and does not respect his clients time. Based on my experience and similar reviews you're wasting your time calling him. There are plenty of other Masons eager for the business.
I have no doubt that he will respond to my review with some lame contractor excuse about this being the busy season, lots of projects going on,blah blah blah.... If you don't have time to take on new business and post something that says so.

    UPDATE 4/30/14

Ordinarily I wouldn't dignify a response like this contractors with a reply however I find his dishonest posturing so repugnant that I really have no choice. Here's the bottom line: I called this contractor and he made an appointment to come over and give me an estimate... He never showed up. That's it, there were no maybes, he didn't say if he can get around to it, we had an appointment and he stood me up. The message hes referring to is the one right told him how unprofessional he was and that I was going to find another chimney company ( which I did on Angie's list was fantastic). So he didn't like the message? My chimney cleaning friend, I have a very simple solution to that.... It's an old cliché... Do onto others. You wouldn't want me wasting your time and jerking you around don't do it to Angie's list members or anyone for that matter.

I'd highly recommend them.  They were very professional in what they did.  They actually took the chimney completely apart and rebuilt it.  The house was built in 1965 and the bricks are a different size today so they took the chimney down to as low as the roof and built it up.  They had to go in a half inch all the way around because of the dimension of the chimney and change in brick.  They did a very good job and they explained why my chimney had deteriorated and it was because it had never had a proper cap on it.

He does masonry, chimney and concrete work. He did a good job but he was very slow. We were patient. He is really busy. I think he had a couple of other jobs going. He would work here and then he would take off for a couple of days. However, if I called him in the morning to check if he was going to come, he would answer his phone right away. He was very responsive when he was slow. His price was very, very good. He charged us what he said he was going to charge us; $650. I think we would use him in the future. We just have to be patient. He had received reviews from a lot of people who said he was slow but did excellent work; just like we thought.
