The first year, fine. The second year, somewhat less dependable. This year he has not responded to my calls or emails regarding replacement of an expensive tree that died, as well as completion of a bed that was not done.

They were fine. We didn't schedule a time because it was all outside. They just said that they were going to come when they were in the area which was fine because they were just going to spray the trees. We didn't care to be here when they did it. If I had said that I wanted to be here and watch you spray the trees, I'm sure they would have went along with that. They came and did the job and it was satisfactory. The trees are good so that it. They have trained arborist, not just somebody who come and does the trees. It's somebody who's trained as an arborist.

Land around the end of the house had previously been dug up to repair foundation.  Greenleaf came in and leveled land, grading away from the house, and planted numerous new plants, and laid mulch all around, including other flower beds around the land.  It looks very nice now.  We are very pleased.

BEWARE! THEY ARE NOT DEPENDABLE!! We noticed this company mowing our neighbor's yard, doing a good job, and hired them to mow for us during the month we were away.  They assured us they could do the job, no problem, and quoted a very fair price.  We called from vacation to confirm. Again, no problem. We had even discussed, since we had new grass growing, that they might have to skip certain parts of the lawn depending on wetness.  Imagine our consternation to return after a month to NO MOWING WHATSOEVER!! A neighbor took pity on us and tried to mow, but could not get through much of the tall grass. We paid her, and also had to hire someone to weed whack, rake, and then mow.  We were embarrassed to have the neighbors think we were not caring for our property, vulnerable since tall grass was advertising that we were away, and out a LOT of money to deal with a month's worth at once.  If there was a problem, we never heard about it. Naturescape had our number but never called, and has not returned the two calls we put in since we have been home.  This was a very serious problem. I urge you to consider seriously before you hire this undependable business.

    Athens Lawn & Gardening Inc
My first exposure to this company was in the Fall of 2013.  We were looking for a new lawn service, and found this company listed in Angie's List. With one positive review and one negative review, I figured the negative might just be a bad experience and decided to give them a shot.
I should have seen warning signs early, but persisted. It took several attempts via email and phone to get them to respond. It was explained that the owner is deaf, and therefore I would need to leave voicemails and then expect a response later, so I patiently tried. A couple times, I did get a response once I threatened to take my business elsewhere. When I did get them to come get me an estimate, the guy who called gave me a decent estimate and mentioned a dead tree in our backyard that needed to be removed.  He gave me a quote and I said I'd get back to them. Because of the expense, it took a week to decide if we wanted to proceed, but we did, and given the impending bad winter, I wanted the tree removed quickly. Again, I couldn't get a response until I threatened to cancel my business.  Finally, the owner came to our house, apologetic and willing to work to get the work done.  However, he claimed that the quote I received couldn't have happened, and quoted my a price at least $500 more than his employee had quoted me (I asked and repeated the quote several times, so I know it was accurate.).  At this stage, however, I needed the work done, so went with it.
The work, when it was done, was OK.  The lawn was mowed, and while some clippings were left, overall the yard looked decent.  During the tree removal, they did stack up the wood - not too neatly, but it was stacked. There was sawdust left in the backyard. Nothing horrible, but nothing to rave about, either.
After it was done, the owner told me he was "taking a sabbatical after April".  I took this to mean he wouldn't be doing any more work, so I was prepared to find a new provider. Then, in late March, I received a text saying they would be doing a cleanup and resuming mowing.  I never replied to the text - incorrectly assuming that they wouldn't start again until I said OK.  At this point, we had decided we would probably find another company. The mowing started again. So, we decided to let it continue until we could find someone else.
Our yard service is paid through our wife's employer. Apparently, there was a miscommunication and the checks for the service were not sent.  I never heard any issue until 11:00 on a Sunday night when I received a text from the owner. I replied that I would look into it and get him a check. At this point, Mr. Martin became abusive. He used very abusive language over text. Calling me names, using vulgar language, and saying he would continue to harass me until I paid. It was only after I threatened to contact the sheriff that he backed off. The missing payment was because of a miscommunication on my part, but before the discussion could get to working it out, he was using vulgar, insulting language.
I will never, ever use this company again, and will recommend anybody to stay as far away from them as possible.
I had read a negative review before and assumed it was a one-off thing. To help alleviate that misconception, be sure to read the Complaint Resolution Log at the BBB regarding this company. He used the same abusive language in response to a formal BBB complaint.

    D & J Tree Trimming
D and J Tree Trimming removed 4 very large trees that were together in a clump and the branches were over our garage. Due to the very soft ground they did not want to use the bucket truck so they climbed the trees and brought them down in that fashion. It took them two days to removed the 4 large trees. They also removed 3 smaller trees that the last owners of the property had planted around the electrical boxes. They were extremely careful to remove those trees so that they caused no damage to the electrical boxes.
They cleaned everything up and even raked the yard for branches and sawdust. Each individual of the team was so polite and well mannered. They did an excellent job. I would and will be calling them later in the season for more tree work.

People frequently stop their cars and ask me who landscaped our yard. ( they did the city library too)
Very natural looking and something different is blooming all the time.
Workers show up on time, do their work, clean up when done. Everyone is polite & work hard to completion.
Job was done in time estimated by Mason. (that was a first for me)
Great people to work with & final results are artistically done.
Very pleased with final results & costs.
Plants that died have been cheerfully replaced.
    Well worth it!

    Bobcat Excavating & Construction Inc
Overall it went very well. The project took a total of 5 days (two were only half days due to scheduling of the concrete delivery and the final day was only half day due to completion). They arrived promptly each day with plenty of water for themselves since the weather was very hot and humid. They were polite and patient with my many questions and concerns. Even to the point of agreeing to fix the broken neck of my concrete goose! There were usually 3 workers each day-with the exception of the day of concrete pouring-when there were 7 workers. The additional workers were skilled in concrete working and finishing. The first 1 and 1/2 days were devoted to demolishing the old steps and sidewalk and the creation and set-up of the area for the new steps and sidewalk. The third day was devoted to the pouring, leveling, and creation of the steps and sidewalk. The last day and 1/2 was devoted to touch-up work on the steps and sidewalk, re-installing the house siding, landscaping and clean-up. We paid half of the fee after the completion of the first day and the rest when the project was fully completed. There were a couple of stumbling blocks-one side of the form for the steps blew out during the concrete pouring resulting in the right of the steps not being at an exactly 90 degree angle and the stencil on the sides and front of the steps did not work out exactly as planned-but not to the extent that I would think of the project as failed. We are very happy with the end result and have received compliments from everyone who was seen the finished product. We would definately hire them for future projects.

Five Springs Farm has successfully completed more than one project at my home. Mason Chambers develops a written estimate, works within a budget, tries to choose local varietals & plants that are not generally consumable by wildlife. Although your plan may change, as he gets involved with the project & issues arise, he does not increase the final cost.
He is a pleasant man to work with & clearly a landscape artist, re-framing "problem" to feature. (My wet spring spot in the lawn became a hand dug pond.) Mason's wife handles the billing in an efficient yet cheerful manner. The crew are polite, work hard & then clean up. Working with Five Springs has been an all around positive experience.

I got this reference from Angie's list.  I was disappointed in the number of reviews on the list as I feel strongly reviews aide decisions when it comes to picking a contractor.  Chris showed up on time for the estimate.  He presented a very simple estimate to re sod my front and back yards.  There was a lot of root removal, surface prep, 3 stumps to remove etc.  While more expensive than I thought it would be, his estimate was right in the middle.  He pushed forward quickly on the job, his crew worked very hard, and it was all business.  He basically did the job in two days.  He not only removed the stumps he planned, but, did another that he saw. In summary, I recommend Chris and his staff to you should you want to do a yard repair or replacement.  Chris says he gets his business from word of mouth so I imagine he stays busy.
