It was quick. I have never been unhappy with anything in regards to service. I am happy with everything. There is nothing that they can work on. What I like is the suggestions of what might need to be taken care of is nice and the speed in which they do them is nice.

    Jam Tire and Auto Repair
I feel confident in saying that Jam Auto botched their replacement of my wheel bearing in July of 2015 as it had to be replaced again 5 months later. After having the work done, noise was detected in the area of the bearing when I turned the wheel. After driving down the highway with the owner, we came back and he said that it was a dirt shield or something to that effect that had been bent during maintenance. He claimed to have fixed the problem and the noise was gone, so I left thinking the problem was fixed. However, I am confident that I wasted over $350 by putting my trust in their work. This establishment had changed ownership in the year between my last business in late 2014 with them and the summer of 2015. I don't believe the new owner has the same standards as the last one did.

The staff has always been courteous and reliable. When they don't know the problem's cause, they take the time to explain possible issues, costs, and options. The car is ready when they say it will be.

    ALVIS AUTO REPAIR
Work was good, as expected, and price was fair.  They seem to have a political agenda.  They always have Fox News on the television and have made unexpected and unsolicited political comments to me about the president and the role of government while explaining what was wrong with my car.  It makes me uncomfortable, to say the least.

    Muffler Man
Muffler man gave us a reasonable price and honest estimate which is so hard to find when looking at automobile mechanic work. Another mechanic gave us an outrages estimate. We purchased the part ourselves and Muffler man put in on for a very reasonable price!

    AUTOTECH SERVICE CTR
AutoTech is very professional. The main manager makes appointments, keeps to the scheduled time, explains needed repairs in detail, answers questions knowledgeably, gives cost estimates, calls if the cost will be more than estimated, and keeps computerized records of the date of service, work completed, costs, and any other pertinent notes. The mechanics do quality work.

    ATHENS AUTO REPAIR
We learned from another auto repair that our sway bar link was broken and the front spring was broken on the strut.  This could have caused a serious accident.  We had it repaired properly at the Ford agency repair shop.  We had been to him one time previously for an oil change and replacement spark plugs, but I do not have records of the visit.  We returned to him later for an evaluation of the front end of the car and decided then he is not a competent repair person.  We returned to him because we felt the options of going to another place were limited.  Since then, we have taken our car to a wonderful repair service in Chillicothe, Ohio.  The inconvenience of traveling 130 miles round trip is worth it.

    ATHENS AUTO REPAIR
Called the shop at 8am, unsure of when they opened. They were opened. I explained that my car was broken down across the street from them and that it refused to turn over. The gentleman on the phone told me he could have a look at it and asked me to call when I got to my car and they'd get someone to help me push it through the intersection and into the lot.
Got to my car and went over to see them. Explained what had happened. Gave him my contact information. Waited in the office for about 15 minutes before another gentleman showed up. He used a tractor to help me push my car across the street.  I turned over the key and left.
Got home at about 9:30 and waited for the call.  Athens Auto called me back at 11 with an estimate just under 200, which I felt was fair. According to Autozone, a new starter for my car would be $70. Anticipating inflation for labor, speed and helping me get my car across the street, I was hoping it would run 200 or less.   I told the mechanic to go ahead with the repairs. He called me back at 1 to tell me the car was done.
The owner seems friendly. The atmosphere is sweet. In the corner of the office, there was a box that appeared to be full of toys for children to play with. That's pleasant ambiance, to me. It reminds me of the mechanics I grew up around.  The work was done quickly, and they went out of their way to help me push my car through a busy intersection.
In summary, barring a situation where you happen to personally know the mechanic who is working on your car, I think Athens Auto might be one of the better deals in town.  I'll continue to use them and write reviews of service. I just hope I don't have to do so again soon.

    AUTOTECH SERVICE CTR
I needed a jump for my car and my jumper cables melted when my neighbor tried to help me. So I called Autotech, mainly because I don't care for one of the driver's that works for Curtis Towing, the other tow truck in town. They responded within 30 minutes, however I know that Curtis only charges $35 if my memory serves me right, whereas Autotech charged $45. The driver was friendly however, I was able to pay with a credit card and he told me the resting voltage on my car and that I would need a new battery. If it wasn't for the price, I would've been 100% satisfied, but I think $45 is too much to charge for a jump.

    ALVIS AUTO REPAIR
I live in Columbus and have two kids going to school at Ohio University. Their car started to make an awful noise upon starting.  We purchased an extended warranty when we bought the car. I called several Athens area auto repair shops and was told they wouldn't touch the car unless I paid for the repairs myself. Alvis was recommended by a coworker that lives in the Athens area. When I called -  I was thrilled to talk to someone who was professional AND she said "no problem' to the warranty situation.
We droppped the car off. It was fixed the next day. Alvis worked with the warranty company and we had the car back the following day. AND it drives better than it did when we bought it.
    Thanks!
