Boyd Construction, Restoration & Hardwood Floors
Very prompt, courteous, respectful and professional. Quality workmanship and attention to detail. Continual communication and updates on progress. Very attentive to cleanliness and respectful of the premises. Most highly recommend the company and they definitely take pride in their work.

    Mendrea Construction, LLC
Most importantly, we felt that they were an honest company. Having dealt with dishonest contractors before, Lakeview was an overall pleasant experience. We never felt that we were being swindled or cheated in any way. They were upfront with costs and adjusted the bill as changes to the project were made (both up and down). We were never pressured for payment, and each installment was only paid after the phase was done. The workmanship was excellent. Due to mistakes by the designer (whom they no longer work with), the measurements on our cabinets were off by quite a bit. They were able to adjust for this and you would never know that adjustments had to be made by looking at the final product. There was attention to detail, and when we found things that needed to be fixed, they did so with no questions asked. On the downside, we had significant delays (as it seems all projects do). This was quite frustrating at the time, but now that we are several months after completion, we appreciate the quality work and the frustration has faded. Communication and coordination at times could have been better, but for the most part they were very responsive to us. They do use multiple sub-contractors. Some were excellent, some were not. We needed to have the plumber come back to fix several things and would not recommend that company again. The hardwood flooring, cabinet maker, and drywall people were excellent. All of the workers - both Lakeview and the subs were professional, polite, and pleasant to work with. In summary, they were honest, genuinely concerned that we were happy with the finished project and, able to adjust for several unforeseen problems. They did not cut corners. When we pointed out mistakes, they were fixed without any difficulty. A couple of the subcontractors could have been better, but for the most part, they were excellent as well. Any project of our size has its frustrations, but we were very happy with Lakeview in the end and would use them again.

    Malek Construction
Literally one of the worst services I have ever paid for. The owner and his crew are clearly very inexperienced. It took his revolving crew over six months to complete a 38 SF bathroom. Yes, over six months. Malek Construction attempted to charge me for things that I paid suppliers for directly, they suggested that I needed to replace my entire plumbing (I had a REAL plumber fix for less than $150), etc. Every aspect of their work (tile, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electric) was shoddy at best. The owner, a seemingly nice guy, offered every "nice" excuse one could imagine. When called out on a direct lie, the owner would simply concede that "that was what his guys told me." I have no idea how they are in business. I would strongly urge anyone considering working with Malek Construction to look elsewhere if time, money, quality, or cleanliness are important. The owner did pay for my dry cleaning bill for clothing items in my closet that his crew managed to leave filthy. I guess that is worth one star...

    Plaso Construction
Entire structure went up in two weeks in December, 2016. Their work included framing, installing wood siding, windows and door, roofing, gutters and downspouts, concrete block foundation, concrete floor, and electrical after we put up the insulation, interior walls and ceilings. We are very satisfied with the work and would recommend them to anyone who wants a similar structure. They were here when they said they would be (!) and worked the entire time they were here. The price was reasonable and they did a great job.

    Idea Remodeling & Construction LLC
Please read the previous comment which details what happened. The work was started and is maybe between 1/4 to 1/3 finished. We have received no response whatsoever from the contractor for 3 weeks. Not satisfied at all. We would either expect partial compensation for the incomplete work or another contractor to come and finish the job.

    Nick Tomic Construction
Nick was a pleasure to work with! Gave accurate and fair estimates, provided great on the job recommendations based on his experience and expertise, and finished jobs quickly and professionally. Nick is very detail-oriented and the results were outstanding. When finished, he left the work areas cleaner than when he arrived. We were very happy with Nick's work and will definitely hire him again.

    Walt's Handyman Services
Walt was amazing. This man can do anything. Being an older house there are always surprises when something needs repaired. Walt was able to work through every problem until it was done right. He never cut corners. He is a perfectionist, very detailed oriented. Everything turned out wonderful. After seeing it, our friends all want his phone number. We have already scheduled another job with him.

    Affordable Home Improvements
many issue with owner  but his workers were great. the business needs to be better managed with planning, budgeting and communication .the painting sub he hired was great, as was the window sub he hired to put in the windows.
i would not recommend unless it is a small job that can be finished quickly.
owner had to have all payments in cash and in advance of the work being done.
Owner could not take a check, said his business could not do that yet and if I wanted the price he quoted I had to give him cash and sign contract that same day.  that should have been my first clue.  I had to give him cash all the time and never in the way the contract was specified.
He is not very professional about anything, very emotional and can not deal with any sort of controversy. One day he left at lunch, taking all the workers and said he couldn't come back because he was ill, but that didn't explain the workers leaving too.

Tore out three bathrooms at same time.  Not one is complete yet.  The half bath downstairs has a toilet, but no running water in the sink and no door as it was removed to put in flooring. Contract was to be 3 weeks.  Bad paint delayed it, but its been a nightmare peoject.  . It's going on 2 months now and no plan on a final walkthrough or completion date.
I've been waiting to update the review out of fear that the project would not be completed, but this is ridiculous, so disappointed in this company.
Chris Coyne informed me today 2/19/15 that he no longer had any workers to complete the job.  He blamed me for his workers quitting on this job.  When he left he said he wanted to finish the job, but he had no more workers and he had to regroup his business and then make a list of everything that needed to be done.  I was very distraught and told him not to bother that I couldn't wait another 3 months for that to happen. Its been so much stress that ill hire others to complete the unfinished work.
So far I dont havetrim finished in any room, piles of trim in the garage.
The flooring is still not completed
The half bath downstairs has a toilet, and a vanit/ sink in place  but no running water so the sink can not be used AND the bathroom door was taken off and never replaced, effectively making this bathroom unusable.
There is still paint that needs completed upstairs, light fixtures to be installed and missing and open heat registers and cold air returns that should have been installed. One wall in the main bath is a wreck with bad paint, gouges, nicks and what looks like bubbling paint.
CHris left today with garbage in my garage and pieces of wood and plywood he purchased thrown at the top of the driveway.
The french door in the family room can not be used.  it was not completed and the lockset was not installed.  The doors are screwed together
    for "security".
He probably does small jobs and this was a large one.

    Reckner Woodworks
Steve was quick to respond to my phone call. He was able to figure where all the pieces went; he had to remove nails the original contractor had left in the wood; he used a stain where the color needed fixed; he had to measure and cut some pieces to fit in the wall space. Steve was polite, answered all of my questions, and was very professional. i definitely will call him again if I have carpentry needs.

There are 3 numbers you call in an emergency: 911, your mother, and Rich Gould.
As stupid first time home buyers- my husband and I, our realtor, and our home inspector all missed major termite damage done to our downstairs. After over a year of investigating legal action, it was decided that the cost to sue was too high, with the outcome not being guaranteed.
After receiving several estimates upwards of $35,000 (and that was just for the hardwood and subfloor work), we thought we would be stuck with a dangerous situation that we could never afford to fix. Certainly, we'd take a loss if we ever sold our home. And then came Rich!
We had brought him in months before to quote a different project, and had never contacted him thinking this was outside the scope of his company. We neglected to realize, there is literally NOTHING he can't fix. And if he can't fix it- he knows who to call to get it done.
Not to sound dramatic, but he truly was our angel for this project. It was a total disaster area for a couple days- I mean you rip out your subfloor it is gonna be messy! But he and his team did their very best to keep us comfortable.
He always answered or returned my texts and calls. He always asked me first is something unforeseen needed done. He kept me constantly in the loop, and often did not charge me for little extras that came about. He even gifted us new baseboards because he refused to use the old ones!
It was a huge job that took a bit longer than the anticipated 3 weeks (about 5)- mostly because of crazy stuff you find in a 80 year old house, or because I added things on to his list. He is a perfectionist, detail oriented, professional, and above all he is fair and kind. In fact Jackson (paint & drywall expert) was sent almost immediately to my house to correct something minor on the ceiling.
The final cost did exceed the original price, but not by a heck of a whole lot- and mostly due to my add ons. And even with all the unexpected repairs, Rich either found areas where we could reduce the cost, or did not charge me if it was negligible. He is
I trust Rich, and all of the guys on his crew to come in my house, and do whatever they need to do. As a woman, you hope if you ever find yourself alone with a contractor, you feel safe. I feel totally safe with anyone associated with Rich in my house, with or without my husband being there.
Shout outs to all the guys: Mike, Steve, and Rich Jackson, (and an unnamed plumber)- all great friendly guys willing to go above and beyond that helped with the project.
There is NO ONE ELSE I will ever use to do anything around my house without either A) Calling Rich first, or B) There is no B.
In fact, they are starting our bathroom reno next week! By the end of this year- Rich Could and his guys will all practically be family, and I am very okay with that!
