    Westchester Medical Group

I had switched doctor groups and so I was put through all the tests - ultra sound, the scans, the treadmill, bone density test, got a colonoscopy, mammogram, plus a breast ultra sound  (these last 3 at WP Medical Center (WP Hospital); and at the end f/u visit (July) my doctor was very pleased with the results.  I'm in my 60's so they really wanted to do a full-scope physical touching all the bases.  At the end, it cost me a little out of pocket ($300 for colonoscopy at the WP Medical Center).  But they followed up with a call and also I had a f/u with the doctor 10 days later.  I think this medical group is very thorough (if you can get through it all!).  But I'm well pleased with how I was treated and the outcome.

They have a patient portal where you can ask doctors questions and renew refills -- a great site.  You can also view your test results on the portal under your account.  And, of course, the doctors can review all your records up-to-date.  It's a great system.

Also the support staff are very helpful and professional.

Just 2 areas that could improve.  The wait time for my GP was always 1/2 hour and more inside the room (I remembered to bring a book with me after the first time).  The second is the billing which is a bit askew.  Two months later you'll get an additional bill for $20 for lab fees or something.

We've been using them for 10 years. They're efficient. They did a good job as far as I can see. My family is pretty healthy. We go on a regular basis. Generally, I go every three months. We have insurance so the cost is reasonable. The staffs were very professional.

    Westmed
They are excellent. They have every specialty. My primary doctor and gastroenterologist joined so I'm using everybody from there. They're very knowledgeable, everything was computerized so every doctor that you go to that you have the chance to see knows everything else about your health care. They just look it up and they have your full profile.

West Med Medical Group - Yonkers
They are life-changing. There is a great group of doctors in that building. What makes it good is that everything is located in that facility. When I needed an MRI, I was able to merely walk to the next office, get it, and come back to find out the results.

The experience here is like getting medical care from Ikea.

After hoping I'd found a new doctor after moving to the area, I kept having to call them back to remind them to call in my prescription medication and to send through the referral to see another doctor.

Regardless of your insurance, and I'm fortunate enough to have great insurance, they seem to want to squeeze as much billing potential out of you as possible.

Examples: When you need blood work, they don't pause to give you a blood work order form and let you know you can have it done at their office or that you have a right to go to a third party lab... They send you back to one of their giant lobbies, filled with people, and you wait for one of THEIR phlebotomists to come and get you to draw work. Clever... and a bit shady.

If you know what you need by way of care and, say want to see a specialist because that's the type of physician you've been seeing, they force you first to see one of their general doctors who will then and quot;referand quot; you to see the other doctor on another date. This is mind boggling to me, especially for those of us who have insurance and do not need referrals to see specialists such as dermatologists and other specialists.

A good place to be on file with if you live near by; use them as a backup to see doctors when you can't get in to see anyone else. But choose carefully your common provider and stay clear of this big box style of healthcare. It's unhealthy.

I like them. They're a big group and if you need to be seen you can be seen. They're pretty technologically advanced as far as their front desk and all of that. You're able to access all your records online and things like that. I think they're really good. I've never had a problem and my annual physicals are okay.

I took my elderly mother to a d1fferent dermatologist who dod not treat the skin condition seriously. This MD did, prescribing 2 different topicals, as well as taking a culture to verify her clinical findings., Top notch treatment! Greta phone follow-up as well. The Group did not take my mother's Insurance (Medicare Advantage) but did bill it, and then gave her a small additional break in the price.

    Foxman, Dr. Patrcia
I went to her for four or five years.  My husband had fallen and he had all kinds of tests taken.  When we went to see her, she had none of his records and she blamed everybody but herself.  I went myself and she went ballistic and it was my fault because I had changed heart doctors.  I didn’t argue with her; I just walked out and got a new doctor.   She was available but she was always late.  If I had a 4:30 appointment, I wouldn’t see her until 5:00.  She hardly did anything for us. The office was clean but she has no staff; that’s part of the problem.  Sometimes she would be very good but other times she was very curt.  When I asked her about the tests she said that was my problem and it cost me $75 per page.  Then when I asked her to send our records to our new doctor, she charged me and my husband $250 each.  Needless to say, we didn’t have them sent.  She makes you pay everything up front, in cash.  You can’t use a credit card or a check.  We’re on Medicare and we have a deductible.  She had to have it all up front before she would deal with us and then we had to go to her to get it back.  She finally gave it back when she realized I was after her.

    Popescu, Dr. Oxana
Dr. Popescu is an exceptional physician. In addition to being very knowledgeable, she is very personable, thorough, responsive, and dedicated. She takes the time to listen, discuss health issues, answer questions, and explain treatment. She returns phone calls promptly and will call in prescriptions as needed. Her office is technologically savvy (She even emailed me from her vacation in a foreign country with advice when she couldn't reach me by phone). Dr. Popescu really cares about her patients - a rare quality among many doctors. .I recommend her very highly and have referred friends to her. She's really excellent!

    Dominick, Dr. Reda
He is both certified in internal medicine and nephrology.  He is the best physician in the world in my opinion.  I am seeing him for 10 years.  I have seen many other doctors.  He is the modest and most caring.  He follows through with his patients.
