Towing reviews in Yonkers

I had a car sitting in my friend's driveway for over a year and I finally decided to get it repaired. I found an auto shop on Angie's List so stopped by to discuss bringing my car in for repairs. I explained that the car was not running so will need to be towed. I asked if they offer towing services. They did not directly but gave me the contact for Mike at North East Towing who he said would take care of me. Apparently they have been working together for years. I figured if the auto shop was highly rated on Angie's List, then the towing company that they recommended has to be decent as well. I called Mike, explained the situation, and we scheduled a time to meet.
I've experienced my fair amount tow truck drivers but Mike was by far the most friendly and personable one. We got the car on the flat bed truck and I decided to drive with him while my wife followed in her car. At one point she got stuck at a red light, and Mike pulled the truck over to wait for her. That was very considerate and thoughtful.  Even though he didn't know at the time, it was also helpful as my wife wasn't familiar with the route to the repair shop.
During the ride we had a good conversation as Mike is friendly and down to earth. From previous experiences I know this can be anywhere from awkward to downright uncomfortable, but that wasn't the case this time. After we unloaded the car we continued to talk with the guys at the repair shop. It was clear that we all shared the same values about life, ethics, raising children, etc. It was a pleasant experience.
I'm not sure how many towing companies find their way to Angie's List, but I felt this guy deserved to be added. We all go to Angie's List to find service providers that get the job done in an honest and professional manner and that is exactly what I found and why I am adding it here. I'm not sure how far their services stretch but I know if you are in the Westchester area and need your car towed, I would definitely recommend giving them a shot.

In January 2013 I was in a car accident that, unfortunately, totaled my car. We called for a tow truck from Nukho and Sons repair shop on South Broadway in Yonkers (who we have used happily for over 20 years). However, a Don Glo tow truck arrived before any other and, putting his tow truck in position to access our car, the driver asserted his primacy as having responded first.
As we discussed costs and towing destinations (see below), the Don Glo’s driver aggressively continued to hitch up our car and refused to release it, even when our mechanic’s driver arrived. We do not know how the Don Glo truck managed to arrive so quickly…unless they make a practice of scanning police frequencies in search of business.
The Don Glo truck driver told us he’d be towing our car to the Don Glo repair shop for $75, payable by either cash or check, but not credit card because his credit card scanner was broken. Already losing trust in him, we insisted he tow the car to Nukho’s repair station instead.
Now the distance from the site of the accident to either Don Glo’s or Nukho’s is less than a mile. The usual charge for such a short tow in our neighborhood is in the range of $60 - $75, yet the Don Glo driver outrageously insisted on payment of $125 (plus tax) in cash only, refusing to justify the surcharge of $50.
The experience of being bullied by Don Glo was like what one would expect from a lawyer chasing ambulances to prey on vulnerable clients. Their considerable overcharge and lack of a functioning credit card scanner were unprofessional. I hope to never again use any of Don Glo’s services in any manner. Ripping off people simply because you can is an unconscionable business practice. I recommend using another company and making sure that Don Glo never gets an opportunity to surreptitiously pre-empt the situation.

I have used them for many years, I had a door panel that came off with out asking they fixed it for free.
They are always going the extra step to make the customer happy.
Repairs are always completed by the time specified.
If they see anything that might be worn they give you aheads up to watch for it.I can say I have never had a bad experience with them
and that means a lot when dealing with your car!!!

They respond very quickly to your phone calls. They make the job very personal. They assure you when you are broke down that someone is on the way by giving you the information that you need and contact information for the actual company and AAA themselves. If a towing company is sent that you have to pay out of pocket, they reimburse you for the money you spent. Their yearly pricing is very reasonable.
