Concrete Repair reviews in Williston Park

    Suburban Asphalt Concrete Co Inc
My driveway was in poor condition and I had a narrow walkway overgrown with ivy and a yard with a downward pitch towards the house where I wanted to put patio. I had already committed to another highly recommended asphalt and concrete company on Angie's list whom I won't name. Once I agreed to do the job with them, they wouldn't return my calls or give me a date or ballpark estimate. I gave up on them. I contacted Suburban Asphalt and Tom came in with a fair price ( I had 4 other contractors bid on it). More importantly, he seemed more experienced and interested in my business. The driveway came out great, the ivy is gone and in place I have a vegetation free new concrete walkway. The paver patio came out great.

    All Shore Paving Corp
John's professionalism and knowledge of his craft are second to none. He puts you at ease and talks to you when you have questions and not down to you. his crews are top notch, very professional and extremely hard working. his customer service and response times are incredibly fast and doesn't leave you hanging. i received quite a few estimates but felt very comfortable with hiring All Shore Paving as i wasn't pressured into a decision like most contractors do just to sign up a job. Scheduling is spot on and variables are known up front. Will recommend to all that ask

    US Home Remodeling Corp
We recently remodeled a main floor bathroom and basement
(including a bath addition).  US Home
Remodeling was one of the four contractors we obtained estimates from.  Just prior to Bob coming to give the
estimate, we felt as if we had already found the right company and expected
that Bob?s estimate would serve mainly as a sanity check.  However, Bob?s candidness, pleasant demeanor,
flexibility, and quick turnaround during the estimate process, coupled with
strong Angie?s List reviews and competitive pricing, were what won them the
job.  More than other contractors, he
provided input into floor selection for the basement and was perfectly fine
with us saving money on getting polished concrete floors from another
contractor instead of tiles with US Home Remodeling.  Bob came to our house more than once while
finalizing the estimate and, in the process, introduced us to Joe, the project
manager, and Mike, the plumber, who would be part of the project.  This gave us a sense that, while there would be
different people involved in different steps of the project, everyone would be
communicating well with one another.  I
was a bit nervous about the project detail being passed on from Bob who
provided the estimate to Joe who managed the project.  However, soon after the work started it
became clear that we were in good hands.
Joe was very responsive and communicative throughout the project, with
him or another project manager on site most days.  His workers were professional, polite,
arrived on time, got to work and were good at what they do.  We felt we weren?t nickel and dimed during
the project as it?s sometimes a fear with contractors.  Joe, as well as his plumber, took care of
some unforeseen issues along the way and small side requests at no additional
charge.  Any wall dings and cracks as a
result of demolition were fixed and painted new.  During construction, a couple of larger, unforeseen
issues came up related to old plumbing and basement egress that led to
additional cost.  We felt that Joe
presented us with facts and sourced quality people to address the issues.  Overall, our main floor bath is beautiful and
we love our basement as it is now a fully livable part of the house.  We give our full recommendation to Bob and Joe
and look forward to working with them again in the future.

SLOPPY WORK, CHEAP CONCRETE AND VERY EXPENSIVE:

Refer to the attached photos for stains and pitting throughout concrete walkway.

After the concrete dried and cured, and the job paid in full, my mother noticed a huge dark stain forming in the front walkway of her house.  According to the owner, who responded to the complaint, the concrete and quick dry used was not adequately mixed. This he said, resulted in a large and expanding dark stain and pitted patch measuring approximately seven inches in diameter in the front of the house, as well as large pits in other areas of the walkway. Additionally, spots of white wavy haze are evident throughout the concrete work, especially in the backyard. As for the finishing work, it is horrendous. The temporary tape used for edging was still left in some areas of the backyard, and huge clumps of concrete fill the crooks of what should be clean corners. Very sloppy work. The stairs built are adequate.

This work was contracted by my 90-year old mother who has, since April, has phoned the owner seven times after his inspection visit -- during which he promised her that he would come back to fix the problems when he had a job in the neighborhood. Evidently he has been in the neighborhood several times, since other local contractors who have done work for my mother recently told her they have seen him.

To date, she has only spoken with the office manager for this firm which also does business as "SV Contractors" with no response from the owner. As her daughter, I got involved as of yesterday, July 17, 2015 and left a very detailed list of complaints with the office manager. He has not responded to me either. Hence the posting as a forewarning of the shoddy work and horrible customer service that others considering hiring this company can expect, and his clear exploitation of elderly customers.

If the owner does correct his work, I will be more than happy to amend this review.

Update: I called one week later and finally got the owner to show up to do repairs on that Saturday, July 25.  My mother gave him a detailed list which included removing the flag in the front of the house with the large stain and pouring new concrete.  He showed up with a bucket of cement and filled in all the holes, despite her protests.  Needless to say, I will be calling to complain again.

Update:  We have a Small Claims court date with Mr. Valenza in 2016.  Several months after he was served with our lawsuit, he only offered to replace the one flag that has the large and expanding stain. In the meantime, the pathway continues to deteriorate and now has developed wave patterns in several areas throughout.

    Suburban Asphalt Concrete Co Inc
The job was done very well and according to plan. Tom let us know every day what to expect the next day, he was very receptive to our needs regarding last minute details and changes.  He took the initiative to make corrections as he saw fit. We would strongly recommend him and would use him again.

    Knockout Masonry Corp
Jimmy, came out to our home this morning to provide us with a free estimate.  He was a few minutes early, appeared knowledgable and explained everything that needs to be done.  Once the insurer approves the work, I hope that Jimmy will be available to do the work. If he is, I will certainly use him.

Jimmy of Knockout seems very knowledgeable in field and knew what exactly what tools would be needed to complete this rather unique job.  Jimmy was very generous with his time and provided a written quotation 24 hours later.  Overall, I felt that Jimmy was honest and provided a fair quotation.  Will post more when job is completed.

    Mastercraft Remodeling & Construction Specialists
After extensively researching potential contractors to take on a huge project - the complete renovation of my parent's home, I settled on Carmine.  His honesty, professionalism and attention to detail sold me, and the results have only exceeded my expectations.  As my parents are older, I needed someone who would treat the project as if they were working on their own home, and Carmine has done exactly that.  He is a true advocate for his clients, and I feel as if I have a close relative working on the project.  He is also easily available and always very helpful, both of which are important characterics to me given my parents age and the fact that I cannot always be around to help them.   I feel as if Carmine is a part of our family.  Look no further if you are looking for a highly professional, capable, reliable and honest contractor to provide the full range of builiding service on your home.  When I purchase my own home, Carmine is the first person and only I will call.

    Sarre Contracting Co
Very honest and professional. Estimates given were kept even though more work was needed for project such as new cement wall. Employees were respectful and very hard working. One of the Sarre brothers was always on the job to work and supervise. Schedules were kept.
