Old World Craftsmen of NY LLC
Last summer I purchased a 1924 Dutch Colonial in need of renovation and refinishing. In particular, the main bathroom was a decrepit, low-end remodel that had to go. After interviewing several general contractors, it was immediately clear Scott was my man. He had a passion for old houses, asked the right questions, took notes, made helpful suggestions and developed a comprehensive plan. I had no doubt he would do the job right, and he did! Scott was very easy to work with, up-front, accessible, respectful, timely and helpful. He listened, studied my sketches, provided input and made sure he understood what I wanted. No problem was too big or too small. Each task was clarified and documented ahead of time, so everything went smoothly. I was part of the team and never felt pressured. When questions or options arose, or when I wanted a change, I was patiently consulted before the job proceeded. Scotts crew is outstanding. Each and every task was completed with efficiency, above and beyond expectation. Scott knows all the best local tradespeople, suppliers and resources, so there is always peace of mind that every task will be done to perfection, at a fair price. Another great thing about working with Scott is his great attention to detail, and his willingness to make suggestions and exchange ideas. The end results are beautiful and functional, but only because Scott steered me in the right direction with his knowledge and experience. When I compare my original design sketch to the finished project, its clear how much better everything turned out because of his guidance and his background in both design and engineering. And one of the worst features of the house, my small front entrance, ended up being one of the best, after Scott advised me to consider a simple change. I gave Scott an A for every category including costs. His services are not inexpensive, but due to the high quality of the work, I got excellent value out of every dollar invested. Had I attempted to be my own GC, it would certainly have been more costly due to errors, not to mention my additional time and effort. And there is just no way to put a price on the satisfaction of enjoying a sparkling new, flawless bathroom that is even better than I imagined. Scott is understandably a high demand contractor, and he is very particular about the people he hires, so work did not commence immediately. But Scott did some creative workflow-organizing to get all the jobs done as soon as possible. And once a job is started, the same crew works on it every day, all day, until its done. So everything worked out fine. I do recommend calling and scheduling an appointment as soon as you can, in order to secure your place in line. I could not be more pleased with the renovation work done by Old World Craftsmen. The company name says it all. If you have an old house, or a new one, and you want work done with old-school pride and high standards, look no further!

Tom and his team arrived on time and gave a fair price. He came out and gave me an estimate with no hidden fees and was straight forward. He was honest and they performed a great job. He does not lie when his page says services not offered is wasting people time and money. Thanks for getting this work done in a timely manner.

    Econo-Therm Insulation Co
They were fast and courteous. They were able to insulate the entire house in only a few hours. They used plastic sheeting and vacuums to keep the floors and furniture clean. We were very happy and will be recommending them to our family and friends.

    Good Life Energy Savers LLC
Excellent . The Estimator showed up 2 minutes before the appointed time & after a quick 20-minute survey of the exterior of the house, was able to give me a written estimate. The rest of the job was conducted in similar fashion. The installation crew showed up on time, were competant & courteous & completed job on time. When completed, I was asked to walk the job to make sure the cleanup was acceptable. Not enough "cold" time has gone by for me to comment on the reduction in heating costs but as for the work, this outfit gets my unqualified recommendation.

    Above & Beyond Contracting

WE LOVE OUR NEW HOUSE! It is like new construction from the inside out. The project was intense and three months long but Bud and his team was amazing throughout the process - professional, on schedule, on time, detail oriented and kept me informed all along the way.  Our house is old so this was a complete gut job and had layers of complexity to include a soffit that ran across our entire kitchen and housed all the plumbing throughout the top floor and a steel beam.

Bud was the only contractor during the bidding process who would take on this challenge and worked tirelessly with the architect and plumber to find a way to remove the soffit and all that entailed. Even the kitchen designer said it couldn't be done and drew plans to accommodate it!  The result is amazing we love every inch of the remodel. I would recommend this company and Bud to anyone - his experience, knowledge, patience and commitment to quality work was amazing and hard to find in this industry. He helped us with many decisions along the way and made it even better than we could have ever imagined.

    Perry Verrone LLC
It was fantastic.  I have used Perry Verrone in the past for roofing work and have been very pleased.  I could not have been more impressed with their attention to detail, honesty and integrity.  Branden O'Brien and his team definitely exceeded  my expectations.  They left my  house so clean not a trace that any work had been done.  Branden answered all of our questions.  I can totally feel the difference in my home after following Branden's suggestion to insulate the attic.

    Eco Green Solutions

Eco Green Solutions were great to deal with.  They came to the home for an initial consultation and provided me with great solutions for the heat loss problem I had in the home.  The salesperson provided me a clean understandable proposal with different options I could choose from depending on my budget.

When we agreed upon the scope their office scheduled an appointment with me to schedule the work.  Their crew showed up on time, wore booties on their feet to keep my floors as clean as possible and did a remarkable job patching and priming the walls for painting.  I wasn't home when the work was performed, but the painting contractor I had in the home at the same time commented on how professional they were and how they made his job so much easier.

As a homeowner, heating and cooling cost are real concerns.  I highly recommend anyone considered with those things like I am to have Eco Green Solutions do an energy audit of their home and see where they can save.

    BrightHome Energy Solutions
Price was in the mid range of the quotes I received.  Nick (Project Lead) was very professional, helped prioritize options for work that needed to be done.
Crew was on time and organized.  They protected the finished space effectively.  Installation looks good and they completed some additional work (repairing wood platform in attic) that was not specified.

    Giant Siding & Windows Inc
We had seen the Giant trucks in our neighborhood and called them in just based on that. Perry (The owner) came, looked over the house and gave us samples of color and siding types. It was a very straight forward and no pressure sales approach that was  sincere. After reviewing we wanted to see a few colors on houses. Perry provided us with houses to look at in our area right away. We had a small list of other questions that were answered easily by Giant and decided to proceed.
Our house was built in 1956 and had cedar shingles on it that were pretty beat up. I removed the in wall AC units prior to Giant coming and noticed my sheathing was Homasote (a cheaper building material from the 50s). Tony, the foreman and his crew arrived exactly when they said they would and started to tear off the old shingles. They worked quickly and are very organized. Later in the day when the tear out was complete Perry stopped buy and gave us the choice of putting 1/2 plywood over the Homasote for a better nailing surface or just nailing to the Homasote which in my opinion wasn't and option. We didn't want the extra cost but this is something you have to expect when opening the walls on your home. Sometimes things need to be corrected and this will be an additional cost obviously. Glad we went with the plywood.
Tony gave outstanding recommendations on leader placement that made the house look much cleaner. Like most homeowners I had questions during the job and Tony answered everyone of them. I "was" an interior contractor years ago and am still very attentive to details. To get even more detailed, the wrap on the house was done very well, great overlap and all in the right direction to control any water issues. Rigid insulation was installed and the siding went up. All the security lights and GFCIs back in place with new mounting blocks also. Lines on the siding are super even dare I say perfect and there are not an abundance of seems. All the trim and caps were mitered great and caulked. The house came out much better than we expected.
Except for a few broken branches (which should be expected during heavy work like this) the crew cleaned up BETTER than our landscaper and cleared the yard and driveway of ALL debris except 3 screws... I forgive them. :) And those might have been mine.
All in all a great straight forward experience with a very professional company.
