Doug B from Sila showed up on time. He put on cloth booties so he wouldn't track in dirt from the outside. Doug was polite and professional. Doug completed the job and then made a recommendation that no one else has from past experience. Doug suggested that I consider purchasing a Nest CO2 & smoke detector (2nd generation) battery operated and also links to my smartphone. The reasoning for the recommendation was that my HVAC is located in my attic in a small enclosed room with updated insulation. And there is an insulation hood on top of my pull down attic door. Doug told me that with a conventional CO2 detector, I might not hear it "alert" with all of the additional insulation layers. Although I didn't purchase it from him/Sila, I did purchase it locally and was able to install it relatively easily.

We got estimates from 6 companies to replace our broken Veissman combi boiler. Phonex not only gave the best price but was the most knowledagble about what needed to be done. Their work is immaculate. Even the town inspector was impressed and thanked them for making his inspection easy! Highly recommended!

Mario (technician) showed up earlier than expected as he was already in my area. Arrived 9:30am, performed air conditioner servicing (checked & inspected evaporator coil, replaced filter which I already had, checked all electrical work & blower area, cleaned drain line, checked & inspected AC condenser & checked refrigerant level. Finished job 10:45am. I found out after the job was completed that although I "claimed the deal", my credit card was not charged. So, I had to pay Mario directly by credit card. Sales tax was also charged, which was new to me. Mario was polite, professional and well spoken.

Dave from Affordable came right away to look at my furnace. He quickly figured out what needed to be replaced and returned the next day with the right parts. The furnace also needed to be cleaned, which he took care of. I will be calling him again for future cleanings.

Last summer I purchased a 1924 Dutch Colonial in need of renovation and refinishing. In particular, the main bathroom was a decrepit, low-end remodel that had to go. After interviewing several general contractors, it was immediately clear Scott was my man. He had a passion for old houses, asked the right questions, took notes, made helpful suggestions and developed a comprehensive plan. I had no doubt he would do the job right, and he did! Scott was very easy to work with, up-front, accessible, respectful, timely and helpful. He listened, studied my sketches, provided input and made sure he understood what I wanted. No problem was too big or too small. Each task was clarified and documented ahead of time, so everything went smoothly. I was part of the team and never felt pressured. When questions or options arose, or when I wanted a change, I was patiently consulted before the job proceeded. Scotts crew is outstanding. Each and every task was completed with efficiency, above and beyond expectation. Scott knows all the best local tradespeople, suppliers and resources, so there is always peace of mind that every task will be done to perfection, at a fair price. Another great thing about working with Scott is his great attention to detail, and his willingness to make suggestions and exchange ideas. The end results are beautiful and functional, but only because Scott steered me in the right direction with his knowledge and experience. When I compare my original design sketch to the finished project, its clear how much better everything turned out because of his guidance and his background in both design and engineering. And one of the worst features of the house, my small front entrance, ended up being one of the best, after Scott advised me to consider a simple change. I gave Scott an A for every category including costs. His services are not inexpensive, but due to the high quality of the work, I got excellent value out of every dollar invested. Had I attempted to be my own GC, it would certainly have been more costly due to errors, not to mention my additional time and effort. And there is just no way to put a price on the satisfaction of enjoying a sparkling new, flawless bathroom that is even better than I imagined. Scott is understandably a high demand contractor, and he is very particular about the people he hires, so work did not commence immediately. But Scott did some creative workflow-organizing to get all the jobs done as soon as possible. And once a job is started, the same crew works on it every day, all day, until its done. So everything worked out fine. I do recommend calling and scheduling an appointment as soon as you can, in order to secure your place in line. I could not be more pleased with the renovation work done by Old World Craftsmen. The company name says it all. If you have an old house, or a new one, and you want work done with old-school pride and high standards, look no further!

Joaquin and Francis were wonderful. Joaquin reminded us that we could get a discount for being Angie's List members after we forgot to mention it. They were punctual, kind and professional. We are new homeowners and are relieved to have found an honest plumbing company. We highly recommend them.

He didn't come back and tell me what the problem was, that's why I corrected it myself, that was my issue. He didn't offer me an option, like I need 3 pounds of freon, or the compressor does not sound good and that I should replace the unit. Those are the options that should have been presented. He went outside, he put 3 pounds of Freon in the unit and came back with an invoice. He also said that the compressor does not sound good, and that I'm probably going to have to replace it. This is after he installed $300 worth of Freon into the unit. I will say that initially when he did this I wasn't alarmed at all because I'm using a contractor that installed the unit. If you go outside and put $300 worth of  Freon and if my air conditioner now was going to work because it was a hot day, then that's fine. It didn't work. Not only did it not work it made a noise so loud, it wasn't even an option to keep the unit on at night while you were sleep. I called and my husband called, and basically they said that it was not their fault, and what we paid for was for them to come out.  If it didn't work then it's a bigger problem. We just needed a new unit. They did not replace it, they did not offer to come back out and resolve it at their cost, because we had already spent $568. They said that what we had paid was not ureasonable for what they did, and that if it didn't correct the unit, we would need a new one and they would quote a good price. First the woman gave us a quote over the phone, which she said that she was going to send by email and reduce it by $150. That was the best she could do pertaining to the Freon. She never sent it, and she has my email address. My husband called and he spoke to one of the owners, he was very defensive and basically said the same thing. Then I called the third time knowing that I spoke to the woman that said she was going to give me a quote, and my husband spoke to Jeff. Jeff said that they do it at a reduced cost, but we wanted a quote. Why would we just give a job to someone that we gave $568 a didn't do the job. We still wanted to get a quote from them just to get a sense of what our real cost should be. The woman I spoke to, her name was Maria and she quoted us a new unit for $3100 which supposedly included a $150 credit for the Freon. She said that she was going to confirm it with Jeff and then send me the quote, and she never did.  I found out later from one of my neighbors that the owners are Andre and Jeff, so he is the co-owner. Andre comes the first time, and Jeff is the gentleman that my husband spoke to. They had somone supposedly the co-owner who put the Freon in without first telling me what my options were. That's what I explained to Maria, I'm like Maria let's be real, the way this went down was not fair. They didn't tell us that the unit needed to be replaced. He put the Freon in and then said you're probably going to need to replace your compressor, who does that. I thought that they were just going to do right by us. We just didn't pursue it all, because now we're dealing with other people who are coming in to give us quotes. This one guy from Sears, we explained to him what happened and why we were looking. He said that it was irresponsible of him to have charged for Freon without pressure testing the line. He didn't try to go after them, he said if anyone pressure test they will charge you. That's a lot of money that we just threw away. We got no value. They did respond, at the end they didn't. They came and got their money, and the money went on a credit card.

The price is fine for what they did. Quality is so far so good. The guy they sent, he was very nice. He came in, he did his job. He did it correctly, answered some of my questions and he had a nice attitude. You know attitude is everything for me anyway. I hate working with surely people.

They were extremely professional, both on the phone and at my house. I see some mixed reviews on here, but Sean was fantastic. Polite, professional, helpful. And he had to come back a second day. Was extremely helpful and got my AC working again.

We use them for tune ups of the furnace, and they were the ones who installed it. I haven't had any problems with them. They installed the heating system; I believe when the house was built and I'm happy with it, so I would say they are a good company.
