    Flue Tech Inc
What a wonderful experience! Nick did a perfect job refacing my ugly, brick fireplace. He was polite and listened to my vision of what I wanted the fireplace to look like. Nick prepared and completed the work with respect for my home. Thank you Nick! Flue Tech was a delight to work with. Phone calls were friendly and I was notified when Nick would be arriving in the morning. There was no waiting. All service companies should be run like Flue Tech! JP Chimney Services
JP Chimney was great! They went above and beyond, not only performing a great cleaning, but fixing a clean out and building a great test fire ina troublesome wood stove. They didnt leave until everything was inperfect working order. I look forward to working with them again.

    Quality 1st Maintenance
The chimney cleaning was very reasonably priced. The first time they came they told me the chimney didn't need cleaning and to call agin the next year and use the same deal. That is a very honest, unusual thing for a provider to propose and we appreciated their honesty and professionalism. A bit of a problem in getting back to me about further service, to upper chimney, they said I needed. Paperwork couldn't be located.

    Mr Chimney
The crew came on time and performed the work in less than two hours - half the time the company rep said they would take. They did a perfect job and were super neat. A lot of workers will say that they are so neat that you won't even know they were there, but it is rarely true. For such a messy job, i was truly amazed what a clean neat job they did. I am giving the cost rating just a middling C rating because I did not compare their cost to any other companies and have no way of knowing if it was a fair price or not.

    NYC Fireplaces & Outdoor Kitchens
My husband and I decided to convert our wood burning fireplace to gas. Although I was excited about the project, I was nervous about how the work would go. Our experience with NYC Fireplaces and Outdoor Kitchens was perfect from the moment we made the initial phone call to their showroom for information.
Maria Pregola took that phone call and was so gracious as she so patiently answered all of my many questions. She completely put my mind at ease about going ahead with the conversion. An appointment was set up with Sal Finocchiaro to look at and measure our fireplace. He was at our home just a few days after the initial phone call. Sal also was so kind, answering all of my questions and making sure I knew what to expect when I visited the showroom.
Our next step was to drive out to the showroom the following weekend. Luca Pipitone spent a great deal of time with us as he explained all of the ins and outs of gas log sets. We settled on a set and then Luca helped us decide on a glass fireplace door and hardware. He allowed me to bring home door color samples and we made our decision on the color and texture with the help of Luca and many others at the showroom.
Today, a few weeks after ordering our log set and doors, the technicians were out to our home to install them. Raffi Saladin and Walter were amazing!! They were neat, professional, knowledgeable, gracious and most of all detail oriented!! Raffi and Walter did not leave until they was sure we understood everything we needed to know about our new gas fireplace.
This was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I would highly recommend NYC Fireplaces and Outdoor Kitchens to anyone thinking of this type of work.

    Home & Hearth
Home and Hearth sells quality goods and they do good work. They just give me the feeling that they do not care whatsoever about customer service. Again, this relates specifically to my experience and others may have had much better expeiriences with this company.  For example, the installation of our stove was 4 hours later than what was originally scheduled. Not that big of a deal, but when you pay >$5,000 for an item and you have to waste an entire afternoon waiting for it to arrive, it doesnt feel that good.  Then when the installers show up in your house 4 hours late and are mad because you are mad they are late - and they are also p***** because they are driving shoddy trucks, it makes me start to question the quality of this operation.                                                       We also ordered pellets that arrived hours later than scheduled....not a huge problem....but when you plan an afternoon around someone showing up at a specific time...and you get charged $75 delivery fee, it sort of sucks.                                                         The straw that broke the camel's back was when they did not show to perform a scheduled service of the Pellet Stove several weeks ago. We wasted an entire day waiting for someone that didnt show up - and to add insult to injury the company blamed the no show on us. The actual problem was that the delivery truck broke down and the servicer could not reach our house. I understand that this happens in a normal course of business, but the company makes no effort to communicate with their customers about service/delivery timing - and when you call to find out if/when they might show up they not only lie to you directly but will also become frustrated and bellignerent over the fact that you the customer are frustrated with their terrible service. I dont have a problem with people running late.  I have a major problem with being lied to and being treated as a buurden on a repeated basis.  They treat me and my wife like crap on the phone even though we spent upwards of $8,000 in 2014 to purchase a pellet stove, get it installed, and then get 4 tons of premium pellets installed and I feel like I get better customer service in the Dunkin Donuts in the subway underneath RockCenter.  I am not expecting to be treated like a king, but I am not expecting to get treated poorly.  I am taking my business to another company - I simply cannot believe that this type of customer service still exists in this day.

    Westchester Fireplace and BBQ Shoppe
Both my wife and I found Rich to be honest, open and really knowledgeable about replacing our gas insert fire place.  He was always reachable and responsive to any questions that we had.  Not only did we love working with Rich but also the crew who sent to our home.  Every who sees our fireplace is blown away by how gorgeous it came out.  The work definitely exceeded any of our expectations and we would be happy to recommend them in the future.

    Westchester Fireplace and BBQ Shoppe
It was awful. They do barbecue coils and then they also do fireplaces. The guy told me to put a plastic bag over my fireplace. I live in a 6000 sq. ft. house. I'm not going to put a garbage bag over my fireplace. It was the most ludicrous thing. He had no suggestions on how to fix it. I would never recommend him. He is nasty and incompetent. They were terrible. I know they ordered new parts for my barbecue and it took them at least two months for them to come in. I just ordered them directly from the company and it took a couple of days. They never fixed any of my problems. They showed up when they were supposed to. I would never use them again.

    Mr Chimney
They did a great job. They were reliable. It's the same thing that I hired the other fireplace company to do and they weren't able to do it. The price was fine. They fixed everything and they were professional.

    James Ball Chimney Cleaning
After getting our chimney re-pointed, we suddenly had a lot of smoke when lighting a fire in our fireplace.  We called James and he sent someone who swept the chimney (both the fireplace one and the chimney for the oil burner).  We still had smoke in the house.  We called James again and he personally came (complaining about the inexperience of the guy he had sent) and re-swept, but we still had smoke.
We then called the company that did the re-pointing (Fulvio Calvi of Alfredo Calvi and Son, highly recommended).  Fulvio got on the roof and immediately found a squirrel's nest near the top of our chimney.  We had removed the cap for the pointing and painting, and apparently there was a squirrel's nest in there when the cap was put back on.  Since we had called for the chimney sweep AFTER the cap was on and we still had the squirrel's nest in there, James's company had "swept" the chimney TWICE without noticing / removing the cap (and the squirrels nest).  How is that possible?  Only if he didn't do his job TWICE.
We finally called another chimney sweep (Richard Pugliese), who actually cleaned the chimney.
Our house has been smoke-free since.
