    Noto Physical Therapy PLLC
I called the number listed and was pleasantly greeted by Dr. Noto, the owner of Noto Physical Therapy. I explained the problem that I was having to him and was hoping he could help. He had a few questions for me, but he said he could see me the next day! He arrived promptly at the agreed upon time. We sat down and started to talk more in depth about my problem and how it was limiting what I could do on a daily basis. After some discussion, he had me do some walking, looking at my posture, even my shoes! He tested my strength and how well I could move my legs. He was very patient with me and I felt like he was really listening to me when I'd talk about my pain. He finished with some stretches and exercises, which he helped me perform, and gave me "homework" to keep up the stretching. At the end he had a few papers he needed to review with me. I used my credit card to pay for the session. He told me that I could submit his receipt to my insurance company and they may reimburse me. I haven't tried to yet, but either way, the session was well worth it, I'm a few days out and already starting to feel better! I have another session scheduled later this week to keep me on track. Overall, the session was great! He was professional, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Thank you Noto Physical Therapy!

They are excellent. The doctors there are doing a good job because the results are excellent. Their staff members are all excellent and do a good job.

They were very professional. They were very good people to work with. For basic pain management, I would highly recommend them. However for severe pain management, I would not recommend them.

During my time as a patient, I only saw Dr. Kaplan for my inital appointment and for injections.  Jeffrey, his PA, was helpful, but did not have the same overall knowledge as Dr. Kaplan.  Dr. Kaplan's solution to my high level of pain was high doses of medicationo and numerous injections into my spine, neck and shoulders.  Though the injections did help the pain level, they did not take away the daily headaches that I have been experiencing.

physician pleasant but OrthoNY appears limited to cortisone shots. Have had other procedures for severe back pain but it appears it is either cortisone or surgery. Seeking other options at another practice.

I became very uncomfortable when he was almost "attacking" and blaming the root of the migraine issue on my weight.  He left the room to get his cell phone and showed me all of these apps to track my food and calories while his PA was  observing sipping a big soda from Taco Bell (and was overweight)!!  Further in our chat, I informed him I had a 10 month old and a thyroid issue and went into my migraine history and told him I received acupuncture treatments for the 7 months I was pregnant.  He said in a condescending manner "Women are pregnant for 9 months darling".  I replied, "Most are, but I was for 7 months, my son was premature, hence, the 7 months.  He did apologize....I am not sure what for...his attitude or comment.  He gave me a few injections that day that ironically made my head 10 times worse and I never went back.  I thought he was one of the rudest doctors I have ever seen!!

My 1st appointment was scheduled for 10:45 and I was told to come in a half an hour early to do paperwork which was already completed because they send it to you in the mail. So, adhering to their request, I arrived at 10 am. The computers were down and the office staff advised me that the wait could be a bit, that was fine with me. BUT, Dr Kaplan (and his wife who share the same office as he does) DID NOT EVEN ARRIVE UNTIL NOON!! As a new patient, I had ALL of my previous test results (labs, LP's, MRI's, CT's, etc) in hand & on disc (also in hand) BUT he still REFUSED to see me because the computers were "down"? To appease my primary care doctor, I agreed to give Dr Kaplan ONE MORE TRY, I REGRET THAT DECISION! He was on time for this appointment, and I will say that he did spend a good amount of time with me, BUT HE DOES NOT LISTEN! He knew full well that I already have a neurologist and that I was ONLY there for pain management, but took it upon himself to start ordering all kinds of UNNECESSARY tests that I do not need. He MANHANDLED me going over the NUMEROUS parts of my body that are in pain, he uses a card that he sticks in front of your face with the words "no pain" "mild" "moderate" & "severe" written on it and he starts at the top and works to the bottom. He SQUEEZED my head so bad that a couple of weeks out now, I STILL HAVE LUMPS on the back of my head. I have Multiple Sclerosis and had gained quite a bit of weight while on Prednisone, which I can no longer take because I have the JC Virus and it causes personality changes. He told me that I MUST join planet fitness, get a personal trainer & WEIGHT LIFT!! In the same sentence he's noting the fact that I have left sided weakness? He even went so far *I am a female* to really grab my behind cheeks and I am very glad that my mother was with me to witness it. While working on my back to squeeze and poke to find the location of the pain, he also used a DIRTY black sharpie (permanent marker) and WROTE a pain map all over my back. I have not had imaging (MRI's) done since my diagnosis in 2013, which may not seem to be long but because of the nature of the disease and the fact that I have been un-medicated for it due to a previous Doctor not checking my blood work and going into acute liver disease and pancreatitis, MY neurologist had ordered a triple MRI (head, neck and spine) to be done the following Monday. Dr Kaplan said that there was NO NEED for the MRI! He then said that I needed nearly 20 injections, it was the ONLY way to handle my pain. When the "tech" took me into the room, my blood pressure was 153/110, obviously in pain and all the while holding my left side. Dr Kaplan wanted to start "diagnostic" injections of Lidocaine that very day in my neck which were to be used for HIM to see if that was really where my pain was, the MRI in Jan 2013 did not show any lesions on my neck or spine. The other injections, more in the neck, back, shoulders, other areas would include a mix of anesthetics like Lidocaine, Bupivicaine, steroids like PREDNISONE which I told him I COULD NOT TAKE and others. I ended up signing the consent paperwork to being the "diagnostic" injections that day, and was taken back to the room where the injections are done. My mother has been a nurse for over 30 years and I too have worked in the healthcare field, this room was DISGUSTING, there were NUMEROUS employees in it, there was food and beverages left out. NOT CLEAN OR SANITARY like a procedure room should be. My mother looked at me and said, we can leave if you're not comfortable. And we did just that, I did not think I owned him and explanation because he had put me in so much pain on top of the pain I was already experiencing and the room was so filthy. The office staff ran after us w/ a room full of patients and was pretty nasty. I told them I was NOT comfortable having the injections because of my elevated blood pressure and my elevated White Blood Cell Count, that I gave him the report to show. Their response was "He's NOT worried about it"!! SERIOUSLY? Upon leaving, I went DIRECTLY to my primary care doctor because of the pain, the elevated blood pressure etc. They then called an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital where I was found to have acute pancreatitis AGAIN! I had the triple MRI that was scheduled that DR Kaplan swore I did NOT need, it showed NEW lesions on my NECK & SPINE, exactly where he was going to BLINDLY INJECT! Thank the lord that my mom had enough intuition to know to leave when we did, who knows what could have happened if he had injected into a lesion, or worse! I would NOT send roadkill to him.

He did a good verbal evaluation my first visit, but after that he was aloof and uncommunicative, a "technician."  As my shots were in  the low back, his assistant would prepare me, by having me lie face down on the table and pull my pants down, leaving my behind exposed.  This is how I would remain until he came in, looked at his computor and notes.  I told her repeatedly that I wished to remain covered (no examining sheet) until he was ready to begin, and she was hostile in her refusal to comply.  Then began a tugging war on my underwear.  This happened every time.  The shots did no good, and he never suggested an x ray.  Twice he hit a nerve and I was paralyzed, the first time for a couple of hours.  The second time, he said it would only last 20 mins.  Everyone went home except the female office manager and Kaplan's son, who was working on the computers.  The office manager said I had to call someone to come get me and my two charges, who had come with me.  I said I had no one.  She did not call Dr. Kaplan and tell him what was happening.  She made me call my friend, who had just come home from a hip replacement two days earlier -I'M NOT KIDDING!  to drive her truck to get me, and the two developmentally disabled folk who were with me.  My friend was exhausted by then, and did not go up the stairs to come in with me, but lent me her cane.  I fell in the bathroom, and hit my head on the tub.  I was still without feeling in the one leg at 3 am, when I dragged myself back to the bathroom.  I had a huge bruise on my thigh the next day from falling, and my head had a bump and hurt a lot.  I wrote a letter to Dr. Kaplan and also left a message with a staff who promised to tell him, but I never got response or apology.  The manager harassed me with strange billings f or a year.  She'd bill me, I'd pay, then she'd bill me for the same amount again and again.  I finally  wrote Dr. Kaplan again, stating that his office manager was harassing me, and never got another bill.  I saw my primary, who ordered a hip x ray.  I had bone on bone arthritis and had a hip replacement.  I wrote him a third time stating I thought he'd be interested that I needed a hip replacement.  Although I complained about my hip nearly every time, he said it was just bursitis and he'd work on that later.  I wouldn't send a dog to him.
