  • Great Yuri provided air conditioner/furnace eval last year via Angies list and once again did a great job/ going above expectations. His estimates for work needed are lower than big box stores. He is friendly and professional. I was glad to re-connect with him & have his card on file.

  • During my first contact with Shane Armstrong (the owner), he talked himself out of a job. After listening to a detailed description of my problem with water in the basement, he told me it sounded like I needed the services of a plumber more than the services he provided. He then recommended a couple of plumbing companies he had worked with. I contacted one of them and had the main drain out of my house replaced with PVC pipe (it had been clay tile pipe sections that had deteriorated over the roughly 60 years since the house was built and which were plugged with tree roots). This improved the situation greatly and solved our major problem. I tell this story to illustrate the kind of guy Shane is. His integrity compels him to be more concerned with solving problems than with making money.
A year later, after a particularly heavy rainfall, we had several areas in our basement where puddles of water had appeared (in contrast to our previous problem where there would be at least a half inch of water covering the lowest corner of our basement). Clearly we still had some issues, so I contacted Shane again. He came to our house to assess the situation. At first, while in the basement, he tentatively suggested some solutions that would involve digging some trenches in the basement floor (we have a finished basement). Then we went outside to walk around the house. Shane immediately noticed some problem areas and tied the locations to where the problems in the basement were.
Gradually a plan evolved that would not only address our remaining water issues, but would also add value to our home with a combination of landscaping, additional drainage pipes and the addition of a beautiful patio to direct the flow of water away from our house.
Although Shane was frequently on site, he employs a crew of impressively competent people. Although this may not be important to the final results, they were also quite personable, which made them enjoyable to work with. They were conscientious and would leave things in a state so as to minimize any issues should it rain before they came back. They also left the site as neat and picked up as possible at the end of each day. If something went wrong, they always fixed it so that it was better than before. As a case in point, during the excavation for the patio drain, they accidentally severed an underground electrical cable that supplied power to a nearby outbuilding. They replaced the cable with a new one the way it should have been done originally, in a protective conduit.
All in all, we are extremely pleased with our new patio and all the work Armstrong Waterproofing did for us. The company, and all of its employees, are topnotch. They look at the big picture when solving problems. As an example of their philosophy, during the course of the work, time and again I would hear the mantra "Think like water". I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, and, as a matter of fact, we're planning on having them do some more work for us in the future (we had to focus on the most important things first).

  • Easily made appointment over the phone, was able to get visit the day after I called. Provider arrived on time, called prior to arriving and did a quick, trusthworthy job. Mike did an excellent job - no trying to upsell or do work that was unnecessary and I highly appreciate that. Was able to pay with credit card and reciept went right to email. Thanks guys, would definetly use again.

  • We are very happy with the work done by Meister and, especially, with the manner in which the work was done. First, they recognized our urgent need and responded to our call in less than an hour. The plumber had us describe the situation again and did an examination of all of the piping before beginning any work. Operating on the belief we were dealing with a routine blockage, he began with the basic cleaning equipment. He suspected a larger problem when he encountered a solid resistance that couldn't be cleared by this equipment. That was when he suggested that the line might be frozen.
At this point, he reexamined the piping and developed an alternate approach. He discussed the approach, including alternatives, with us before and obtained our permission before proceeding with the next steps. Once he determined that he would not be able to break the ice block with his equipment, he again laid out the alternatives and got our permission before undertaking the solution to build a temporary by-pass.
Throughout this process, the plumber was courteous, respectful, friendly and efficient. He did his best to avoid disturbing anything; I had to convince him that it was okay to take down some paneling in the basement to expose the bathroom drainage piping. The plumber was very professional and provided explanations of the potential problems and the approach he would take to deal with those problems before undertaking any work.
Since this was an emergency repair, we didn't get estimates from other companies - we relied on Angie's List recommendations. So, it was hard to rate the "Price" aspect. The repairs were not cheap but (a) they were less than we imagined and (b) the work got done in a reasonable time, so we chose to rate price with an "A."

  • I woke up to a basement full of water and a serious mess on my hands. We have used Fischer Plumbing in the past and called them for help. They were excellent! The girl on the phone could tell how upset I was and assured me they could get right out to me. Within the hour they arrived and took care of everything. The serviceman, Elliot, assessed the situation, explained that the water heater could not be repaired and had to be replaced. He gave options and really took time to make sure we were getting what we wanted. He had a replacement unit on his truck and was able to replace it immediately. They even helped with the cleanup and took away the old unit. I expected this ordeal to be much worse than it turned out to be. I could not be happier with the service they provide! Kudos to the whole staff and keep up the good work! I wish I could give an A+ rating as they deserve it!

  • It appeared from the internet that Chamberlain Septic & Sewer could construct a septic system and extend the water main to the front of my new residence.  There are  few companies that can do this work in Rochester.  I contacted Chamberlain Septic & Sewer and they said that the only way that I could talk with them was to go to the site.  They did not say that anything was required in order to meet with them.  I made arrangements to go to Rochester from my home in Connecticut (300+ miles away) and to be at the site yesterday (4pm, 8/14/14) at the only time a company representative was available.  About 20 minutes before the appointment, I was contacted by the company and they asked if I had a fully-signed Site Plan.  I said that it had been completed but only the Town had signed off but a full signoff is expected in a few days.  I told them how far I had come to make the appointment but they said that the company representative would not meet with me.
My limited experience with the company is that it is unprofessional and has no regard for the customer.  For anything other than pumping out septic tanks, I suggest that you stay away from this company -- far away!

  • Called Roto-Rooter at approximately 6:00PM. On call plumber called back within ten minutes and was on scene within 30 minutes. He diagnosed the problem immediately and started to fix the problem. He rebuilt section of copper piping and added ball valve shutoff and female adapter for new outside hose bib. Every step of the repair was explained as well as the estimated cost. There were no surprises and the cost was acceptable for the day and time.

  • It was a good experience. They responded quickly to our call, there were no hidden charges, and the plumber had a friendly personality. Furthermore, they did a good job with the work, and we had no issues afer that.

  • I was going to use their services to come in and trouble-shoot my dishwasher, which was not draining properly.  However, instead, I was able to get advice on how to fix the problem over the phone.  I had recently installed a garbage disposal myself, and did not remove a plug, which was causing my dishwasher not to drain.  I was given instructions on how to fix the problem myself over the phone, saving myself a service call.

  • I I knew that I had a leak, but didn't know where. Two men, one my neighbor, who has solved many house-related problems in the past, and the other, the contractor who had built the house, missed the leak. (It was, in retrospect, fairly obvious; they were misled by traces of a previous leak.) Pete walked in and identified the problem in under a minute, solved it and was helpful in suggesting remediation possibilities for the damage caused by the leak.
