Business Description: My name is Jeff Eckes. Together with my wife Terri we own and operate Local Dad Repairs. As the name here implies, I am a local dad here in Dutchess County, NY. I have lived here for 15 years and if your kids went to John Jay they probably know my kids and myself through the volunteering I did. Now they are about to graduate college (how time flies!) as geologists and go on to their graduate degrees. I am also the proud father of my 'new' stepdaughter, a UVM graduate who is embarking on her graduate studies in psychology next fall. As most of you know the construction industry has been in a major depression and many people like myself were out of work for quite some time. I am a carpenter and audio engineer (retired) by trade, with a focus on woodworking (cabinetry) and woodshop technology. By 2008 I had been able to build my business up to a consultancy, designing and building woodshops for builders all over the world. When the recession hit, and it hit the construction industry incredibly hard, I lost everything. Rather than complaining about it or jumping on the handout train I spent my last $500 on lawn signs and business cards and turned my skills to helping my neighbors maintain their homes and save a lot of money and heartache doing it. AWe Do The Little ThingsCalled/emailed Bob of "Little Things We Do" via Angie's List contact methods back in early 8/2017. He returned call my within 24-48 hrs. Despite a busy schedule, Bob stated could get the job done and when asked about time frame versus his availability, I stated so as long as it was before the end of 9/2017. He kept both my cell and email on file and within the first week of 9/17, he contacted me back and asked about my availability the second week of 9/2017. Emailed him the storage system instructions a few days before and on the scheduled day of installation, he gave a courtesy call 30min prior to a punctual 9am start time. Came with a fully equipped cargo trailer that housed all of his equipment and was prompt, professional, courteous, knew how to read the installation schematics of the storage system and upon its completion, it looked and worked as it should. His start/finish time was within a 2hr period and even had time to offer me additional advice to look at other rehab projects around the house. He certainly met and honored his Angie's List pricing as advertised and surpassed my expectations for just a "handyman." I'd not only hire him again, but would recommend him to others.- Robert B.

AADK Home Improvements IncWe contacted ADK via Angie's list and setup an appointment to receive an estimate. William was on time, professional and had great ideas to our existing plans which we did not think about. His estimate was fair given the scope of work. He worked with us through the permit process and once we received the permit he arrived to begin work when he said he would. He built a new exit staircase off the back of our elevated garage with an attached enclosure to hide our new pool equipment which was a lot stronger and visually appealing than the previous one. He renovated an existing deck an built a new staircase in a new location, replaced all the railings/posts/spindles on the deck, and installed a gate. While he was on site we ordered a French door which he installed promptly upon delivery. ALL of his work was done well and he even fixed a few items which didn't look right before he left.
