    Pridemark Tree Services LLC
This was my second time using Steve and Pridemark Tree Service. They are very professional and do great work. Steve responded quickly to my call and the work was completed faster than expected. The trees were removed, the lawn racked, branches chipped and stumps removed. Pridemark is fairly priced and I would highly recommend. Mark G. - Voorheesville, NY

    Albany Tree & Property Service
Very well; With his recommendations and suggestions, Joe was knowledgeable about specific tasks that needed to be done based on my questions. His actual work was very skillful and professional. He was also quite meticulous and neat in the yard cleanup afterwards.

    Expert Tree Svc
I wasn't pleased. They said the individual was an arborist. He came and gave me an evaluation. The price he was going to charge for the work was, I thought, pretty high. The service he offered was one and a half times mores than what I had been quoted by anyone else. I wasn't happy with that and I didn't go any further. His service price is way to high and should make it more competitive with the local people.

    The Davey Tree Expert Company
They were awesome. They gave adviced on how to approach the problem I was having and they took care of the problem. Then we talked about things they could do in the future. They were super knowledgeable, very efficient and they cleaned up. There was not a twig or leaf on the lawn when they got done removing everything. I was super impressed. They understand about the different trees I have, how they would grow in the future.  They had to keep in mind that there was another tree. I needed the two trees to balance with each other. They knew what they were doing.

    All American Tree Service Inc

We contacted Jason to cut down a tree that was growing close to some power lines and to grind down several stumps. Jason called us a few days before to say he was coming and called again in the morning to say he was leaving and would be at our house in about an hour. You can't get better communication than that! They did a great job and even offered to move a large rock that was near the tree  (I didn't even have to ask). They added topsoil and leveled the area so that you wouldn't know a tree or stump was there. Jason and his crew are total professionals and I will use his services in the future.

    Albany Tree & Property Service

He did not call ahead and showed up when I was not there and then called my cell phone to tell me he was done. The service he had described was not provided as he only barely touched the fir tree by cutting what he could reach from the ground with a hand saw. I had used an Angie's list coupon and when he first gave me an estimate I believe he adjusted the initial cost making the "deal" from Angie's not much of a deal. I did agree to it, but then he gave me no forewarning with a call and showed up on his own, and he did not provide the service originally described. When he left originally he did not complete the fir tree trimming that we had discussed. After I contacted him he returned while I was not there, and left without trimming the dead wood out of the higher branches. By this time I was so  disappointed in the service that I didn't recall again, taking it as a lesson learned about Albany Tree Service. They should strike service out of the name of the business.

    Advantage Tree Svc LLC
The work turned out very nice. No problems at all. I watched most of the work and they worked efficiently. They had the trees removed in a few hours and a second crew came by the same day to grind the stumps. It was nice to have the work done by crane because all of the heavy equipment stayed off the lawn and they didn't drop any heavy things on the lawn so there were no dents or divots to repair.

    Henry Montgomery Tree Service
First review I have written. First, Henry's price blew away the other 2 estimates I had got. Henry was there on the job with 3 young men and they worked their tails off for over 2 hours. I couldn't be happier and will definitely know who to call when I need tree service again. Henry said he prices to be fair. I can second that!

    ANJOE TREE SERVICE
This was the second time I used Anjoe, and was again pleased. We had several blow downs in a major storm. One massive three-trunk came all the way down, and a few others were down, but stuck on other trees. Joe came by and gave me an estimate for the entire project, and also said that it would be much less to just take down the dangerous hanging trees. Ultimately I took care of the big, already down tree, and Joe's crew handled the dangerous ones. They were fast, clean, and did everything I asked.

    ANJOE TREE SERVICE
I consulted three companies off Angie's List, and Anjoe was the first to get back to me, and came in a few hundred below the others. They were booked about 10 days out, which worked with my schedule.
Joe and his crew said they would start between 8:00 and 8:30. They were there at 7:55, and immediately went to work. I had taken the morning off, so I really appreciated their timeliness. The crew of 6+ was in tune at all times, with a 40" Stihl-wielding ninja up in the tree, three or four guys on the ground sawing and removing the Volvo-sized limbs, and a guy running the chipper. The crew took significant safety measures - the tree-ninja spent a considerable amount of time placing primary and backup ropes, and clearly knew what he was doing. Before dropping Cessna-sized limbs, he always gave a warning, and checked/double checked before delivering the final cut.
Joe was very conscious of my lawn, and used a tracked forklift and a series of plywood panels to minimize the damage in high-traffic areas. He always used the same route, so by the end of the day there was only one "worn" area. This showed his experience and respect for the property - I think a lot of people (myself included) would not have thought twice to drive wherever needed - Joe made sure the massive logs were rolled to the same spot each time to avoid too much damage.
About halfway through the day, the stump-grinder arrived. It was a subcontractor (Stumpbusters), and he went right to work. The machine was the coolest thing I've ever seen. It was a massive radio-controlled robot, and absolutely vaporized the stumps. One of the smaller ones, about 10" across, took less than 30 seconds. The 175 years old elm stumps took longer, but it was very impressive. The only downside to the stump-robot was that it tore up the lawn and left a lot of tracks. I think it weighs about as much as an army tank, so I wasn't surprised - I do wish there was some miracle fix for robot tracks, though.
The only downside to the entire process, besides having to pay $2,200 to get rid of some trees, was the cleanup. If I gave Anjoe a 90-95% on everything else, the cleanup was an 83%. The first part was the stump grinder tracks - it of course had to drive to the stumps, so I'm not sure if the damage could have been avoided. The guys worked a long day, and they left around 5pm, but there were some pretty big piles of chips/sawdust left behind, and one section of the lawn on the far side of my driveway was surprisingly torn up by the front tires of the Mack trucks used to haul huge chunks of tree all day. There were several other holes from the falling limbs, so I'm glad I had $200 worth of topsoil delivered to fill all the holes (a lot of it also went to re-seeding the stump holes, which was expected). Again, in terms of the scope of the job, and the overall excellence, this was minor. If you're getting one of the largest (formerly living) elms in the Northeast removed, don't expect a perfect lawn afterwards, and think ahead by getting some nice dirt delivered to patch up the holes.
Overall, Joe and his crew were extremely hard working, efficient, and conscious of our home and property. The slight lawn damage was no big deal, and considering the number of trucks/limbs/robot-stump-assassins, the damage wasn't that bad.
