Went very well. This was a difficult scenario, but Andy spent a lot of time looking at it and put a lot of thought into the repair. He ended up removing part of the garage floor in order to "network" rebar to prevent walls from bowing out any further. This was a difficult job without jacking up entire garage, which would have been too costly for me. Matched the foundation repair to the stucco on the house. Floor and foundation were completed on time. Price was a bit high, but 2 other service providers were hesitant to touch it and their prices were almost as high. Brought in top soil and grass seed where old fire place was. Very pleased.

He dealt with the codes officer for us and he had to meet code. The quality was very good. He was very responsive. We would definitely use him again.

I first met Andy Putrello when I was purchasing the home and the inspector found trouble in the corner of the stone foundation. Andy did the repair for a very reasonable price and did not charge extra after he learned that the area had an enormous boulder in it. He also did a lot of little fix-ups around the basement at no extra charge. Andy uses the best and most modern materials but he knows everything there is to know about the older stuff as well. He even does historical restoration work. Recently, I took out the old oil tanks and that left a big spot on the foundation with no masonry covering the rock. Another mason came in (not my choice), touched what remained of the decades-old masonry and declared that its grittiness was proof that the masonry had broken down to a point that this had to be a major repair. I consulted with Andy and, over the phone, he told me that masonry of that age is made of sand and limestone. It's gritty when it goes in, so of course it's gritty 100 years later! Needless to say, Andy is doing this repair for me as well--at a very reasonable price, and I know the job will be done well. I wish Angie's list had an A+ rating.

on the 1st day most of the old structure was removed by backhoe. area cleaned up before leaving. the next day same 5 men returned and used jackhammers to finish. Again area cleaned up before leaving. a day delay due to rain. the next day forms put in place. the next day concrete poured, smoothed, finished and floated. the next day forms removed, all flaws filled in and made smooth. any additional concrete added to foundation and extra work done to garage foundation at no extra cost and not part of contract. Andy stayed late making sure it was perfect and we were happy. He was honest, hardworking and a perfectionist about his work. he did a better job than I ever would have expected.

Unlike so many in this field, Andy will tell you when everything is just fine the way it is. And when work does need to be done, he gives you the most professional job at a fraction of what the many hucksters out there will charge. Andy assured me that the bowing was common in these homes and not a problem. He pointed out that none of the exterior walls were even supporting the house. Andy did the work for under $1,000--including some work that he insisted I didn't need. He insisted on meeting with the buyers personally and explaining to them how the other masons had misled them. No one has more experience than Andy--especially with older construction. After hearing him out, they were convinced and the sale went through.

    Basement Waterproofing Inc
I originally hired Basement Waterproofing, Inc (BW) back in the Spring of 2010. I absolutely LOVED their work, but was not an Angie's List member back then. However, a couple months ago (almost three years later), I called BW to see if they would cover a minor issue under their warranty. Being so minor, I was skeptical they would do it. However they came to my house within the week, and fixed the problem at no cost. For this, they are getting an excellent review, as they deserve. The primary reason I hired this company was their warranty. Not only is it "lifelong," but the warranty is transferrable to future owners! (This will be a selling point when I put my house up for sale, and may help me get some of my money back.) BW was the only company to offer me any warranty, and this one was transferrable, too. Sure enough, three years later I got to test this warranty, and now know that they stand behind it. My original problem, back in 2010, was that I had water seeping into my basement through the walls and floor. I was getting small puddles all over my basement, and eventually started getting mold. As soon as I saw a strange mushroom ( !!) growing in my basement, I called in some contractors. Upon further inspection, my wife and I also discovered that at least $500 worth of our belongings were even destroyed by unseen water seeping through the floor and walls they sat against. I called three contractors. Two wanted to dig up my yard, including the front, to refinish/waterproof the exterior of the basement walls. Not only would this mess have destroyed my landscaping, but it was almost ten thousand dollars! And despite all of this cost, they could not guarantee that my basement would be dry! (In fact, it wouldn't be, as part of the problem was UNDER the basement floor, too - a fact that only BW discovered.) BW did these "injections" into the ground around the exterior of my basement, that keeps water away from the walls. No mess!! They also created an internal drainage system to deal with the water from under the basement floor (a problem that would NOT have been addressed by the $8-9000 work with the other contractors). My basement has been bone-dry ever since, and I only payed around $3500. BW is a knowledgable company that did great work, and saved me a lot of money and headaches. I couldn't be more satisfied.

Having purchased a home that was vacant for 10 years, my wife and I are constantly uncovering new, often unwelcome surprises. After removing old paneling in the basement, we discovered that part of the concrete block foundation wall was heaving inward, as the apparent result of frost damage. Two contractors looked at the problem and made us feel as if the house was ready to collapse. They indicated that the house would need to be jacked up, and the entire wall rebuilt, even though the damage was limited to an area of approximately 4' x 6'. Their estimated repair costs ranged between $6,000 and $8,000. When Andy arrived, he immediately put me at ease by indicating that the damage was relatively minor, and could easily be fixed in one afternoon. Best of all, his quoted price of $450 put a smile on my face. Andy and two employees arrived when scheduled, and completely repaired the wall within a few hours. They were neat, laying drop cloth where needed, and left the basement cleaner than it was when they arrived. He even had the patience to show me how to repair minor cracks in the grout lines myself. I can't say enough good things about Andy's professionalism and honesty. He has been in the masonary business for over 40 years, and came highly recommended by a neighbor and a few co-workers. He definitely lived up to his reputation as a craftsman and more importantly, a man of honesty and integrity.
