    Lamanna Moving
Working with Lamanna was as easy as could be. The owner Steve is very responsive to texts and phone calls, and the crew on the day of the move was excellent. Everyone hustled from the first minute to the last, and we were moved into our new house much faster than we expected. We would highly recommend Lamanna Moving for anyone moving in the capital district.

    A.R.M.S. Moving Service
Jeff (owner) was very prompt and responsive to all phone calls, questions, etc. The two guys (Rob and Maurice) were phenomenal movers. Very polite, professional, careful, and incredibly hard-working!!! I appreciated the attention to detail and thoughtfulness with regards to thinking things through. They were ALL very amenable and will do what you want them to do (e.g., packing instructions, moving things first, etc.). I was not not very clear about marking boxes initially and once I noticed this, the packers began marking things more specifically (e.g., "kitchen glasses and plates" vs. just "kitchen", etc.) so suggest being specific upfront in order to avoid confusion for self when unpacking. I was also initially unclear about fees associated with fact that they may need to do another trip, etc. if too much stuff. Jeff explained this in his email but I was still unclear but it worked out just fine. Recommend spending some time discussing this if there's any question about whether it might involve more than one trip. In sum, I highly recommend and will use them again in the future if the need arises. Moving is stressful and these guys made it as good as it can be. Many, many thanks!

    UHAUL of Cohoes
Oh My God. Talk about  incompetent boobs. Here's how it worked. I called the UHAUL closest to RPI, which happens to be in Cohoes NY. I live in Seattle Washington. UHaul reserved a UBOX for me and then linked me up with an entity called "Moving Help" which is evidently a web-based service run by U-Haul, to get local movers to pick up the UBOX from UHaul and then deliver to the place you need it, load up the stuff to be stored, and then take the UBOX back to Uhaul for storage. They later come back and pick up the UBOX for you and have it delivered where you want it. The cost for this is about $300 for one box, depending on how long it is in storage. My price was $300 for two and a half months. Moving Help has service providers they link you up with. But it's not as though you can choose your Moving Help service provider. This is all determined for you when you place your order for the UBOX. So Moving Help and UHaul (same company) sends me a confirmation number and gives me a phone number to call to confirm the pickup 24 hours in advance of the date I have scheduled. But guess what? It's a nonworking number. And the company Moving Help has contracted with to pick up my son's things is not listed in the White Pages, or anywhere. Nope. No where. So I called UHaul and asked "What the heck:?" And I get the most amazing runaround ever. Well, Ma'am, they tell me. This is an independent contractor and we don't know how to contact them. You will need to call the number on your confirmation notice. So I tell them it's a nonworking number, and they say that there's nothing they can do about it, but they are sure they will show up, but have no idea what time. And oh by the way, the scheduled pickup time in their system shows midnight. What? So I ask to talk with a manager. But guess what? The manager isn't available because I have to call the store where I made the reservation and that's not the number I called. But it IS the number I called. The problem is, the number I called has been put out of service because they are too busy to answer the phone, so it rolls over to some other UHAUL office in NY or somewhere. The purpose of that number is just to tell you that the other office is too busy to answer the phone and can you call back later. OH MY GOD!!! Never use UHAUL to move. NEVER. They are all a bunch of idiots. I swear. If I ever get hold of the manager about this, he's going to get an earful. And I swear, if they mess up my son's schedule, which requires him to catch a flight in 48 hours, home, I'm going to hire someone to burn their place down.

    Mabey's Moving & Storage Inc
They moved a large piece of furniture they were told not to move (leaving for buyer)...........and did not bring it back, even though asked.  They left a load of box materials all over the front porch of the old house; had to be called and asked to remove it.

    Handle-It Moving & Storage
I contacted John by email a couple of weeks before the move with a description of the things that needed to be moved and my destination address. He got back to me within 24 hours with two options - flat rate or hourly. I elected to go with an hourly rate for three men.
The day of the move, they arrived early and had the truck packed within an hour. At the other end, conditions in NYC slowed things down a bit. In the end, the job came in below what I thought it would be. Throughout the process, John and his crew were friendly and professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

    Handle-It Moving & Storage
They were outstanding. They showed up on time, were courteous, friendly, and professional. They converted a hectic and anxious time into a calm and enjoyable one. We actually had a good time with our move. The movers were friendly and extremely competent.
For each box or piece of furniture, the movers needed to know its destination. They made sure they were aware of where each thing went, and asked questions to make sure our choices were correct. When we got to the storage room, their ability to carefully squeeze everything into the limited space verged on magic.
It was an excellent move, I highly recommend them.

    Handle-It Moving & Storage
About a week prior to the move, John came and gave my daughter an estimate for the move. He was on time for the estimate. He and his people were also on time for moving day (which was actually today). They packed everything, moved everything on to a large, modern truck with care, secured it properly on the truck (I used to work in a warehouse, so I'm cognizant of good technique). At the destination apartment, they offloaded, placed everything wherever my daughter wanted it, reassembled bed and kitchen table, etc., and did this all with courtesy and professionalism. And, he was a tad under his original quote. To say that I'm pleased with the performance of Handle-It would be an understatement. They made a difficult situation (I hate moving) quite tolerable. Not only would I recommend Handle-It, but I"m going to use their services next year, when I move to Orange County, about a hundred miles from where I live.

    Handle-It Moving & Storage
John and his team did a great job moving some large appliances I purchased from a posting on Craig's list.  These items were commercial models, so they were large and very heavy.   The team was professional and efficient.  They worked quickly to move the items from the location into the truck across some challenging terrain and were careful not to damage either the items or the property.   My items were transported across town to my storage space without incident.  A great job done for a fair price.  I plan to call John when I need these items moved to their permanent home in a few months, and would recommend this company to anyone needing to move large items.

    Five Star Moving Services Inc
Nick and his team were excellent. Nick (the owner) came to do the estimate, and stuck to it when the final bill came. It was great not having any surprises. The movers were on time, efficient, professional, and friendly. They packed the entire house in about 4 hours and moved us the next day. Nothing was broken or damaged, and the team was always willing to do whatever we needed. I won't think twice next time I need any moving services - these guys have definitely earned my business.
