    Residential Improvements
I had insulated siding and 3 new sliding glass doors installed the end of April. The subcontractor who performed the installation noted on my paid receipt that they broke a garage window that needed to be replaced and that 2 of the 3 screens on the sliders could not be moved, even by a man. The subcontractor even called the company the day before the job was completed to tell them about the screen doors. When they were finished and leaving, there was a pile of foam insulation, siding, trim, end caps, etc lying in my driveway, which the subcontractor told me they were not allowed to remove and the company would come pick it all up in a few days. Eight months later, and numerous messages left, the screens still do not move, the window is still broken, and the pile of trash is still in my driveway. As you can imagine with how windy it has been the past few months, I have spent many a day scouting the neighborhood for the trash that finds it's way into my neighbors yards, even after trying to weigh it down. My next door neighbor has even started calling the company to complain last month, and each time, they assured them that they would be right over to take away the trash, but never showed. Last Friday, I finally got a real person on the phone (instead of the usual voice mail), I explained all of the above, including the fact that snow was in the forecast and the pile of trash was going to prevent my driveway from being plowed, and he said he would talk to the owner, could I please call back Monday morning. I did call back Monday morning, and the same person I spoke with Friday asked if I could 'refresh his memory' on the reason for my call on Friday. I went thru the story again, he asked for my name, address and phone number and said he would call the owner and get right back to me. He did, about 10 minutes later to explain that the warehouse should have picked up the trash but missed it and the owner was going to pick it up himself that day. Imagine my disappointment after arriving home from work at 5:45 pm to find it all still there. I called again this morning, got the usual voicemail, and my message indicated that if the trash was not picked up by 5 pm today, I was going to splash this information all over the Internet. Thus, my story. If I can't get them to come pick up their leftover siding and insulation, how am I ever going to get them to repair the window and sliding screens? I will be posting this same review on every website I find this company's name and will be reporting them to the BBB and Angie's List. Please boycott this company and let anyone you know thinking of siding or windows to do the same. I have an appointment with my attorney tomorrow morning at 10 am and will be pursuing legal action. I'm also going to speak frankly with any television or radio news channels who might want to warn the public that it's not as their slogan says "It's all about you!", it's more like It's all about ripping you off, take the money and run!"

These guys were great. Pete, the owner spent lots of time telling me the good and bad of my situation and describing possible solutions. It cost more money than I had hoped but what doesn't? When the men came and did the work they were on time, worked as a team, cleaned up afterward, etc. Scott , the supervisor was very helpful and knowledgeable too.The attic was extremely hot and uncomfortable for them but they worked hard to get the job done in one day to minimize our discomfort. One winter has passed and we had one big snowstorm and no water leaking. We did have a problem with and exhaust fan they installed causing too much noise from vibration. They came back 3 times to make changes and it had to cost them to make it right but there was no further charge to me. They even installed a remote thermometer so I could monitor the heat in the attic during summer days to ensure proper ventilation. I would definitely call them again.

    The Climate Chief LLC
I am an architect, builder, and building owner. I found Climate Chief on Angies List under foam insulation providers. They are listed 5th by Reviews/Grade in the area.
I requested a cost estimate to insulate the basement apartment of my building under construction. I explained the work thoroughly to the woman on the phone and asked if they perform that type of work. She said they did and we scheduled a time for someone to come out and give an estimate.
Gary Reed showed up to meet with my contractor on site. Mr. Reed politely told my contractor that they do not do that type of work. They tell people how to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. I did not need that service. Apparently they only provide consulting services not construction services.
He gave a rough estimate of what it would cost to do foam insulation under the floor area of a small 10x10 room. His estimate of $1600 was three times the cost estimates of  two other bids we received.
I do not know why their ad says "The Climate Chief performs home energy-saving services such as adding home insulation..."
if they do not actually provide that service. Furthermore, I don't know why they are listed as a construction provider on Angies List if they only consult. Unfortunately, poor communication equals a total waste of time for everyone.
Note to Climate Chief: Please provide a more clear explanation of your services in your ad and on your website.

    CJM Building LLC
Although they got my email address wrong (twice) and my cell phone voice mail died (twice), they persisted in contacting me & keeping me informed of their progress and changes in their calendar.  Everyone who came was very pleasant & personable & seemed to be knowledgeable.  Years of water damage had rotted out the wall of my house near the base of my chimney & I was getting water in the basement.  I had difficulty determining if the water was from the chimney or the wall, or probably both.  I had to coordinate work between them & the chimney repairs - would have been easier if they could have done both.  I was quite nervous because they gave me a very vague estimate since they couldn't get a good sense of the extent of the damage without taking off the siding.  After taking off the siding, the damage wasn't as bad as I had anticipated & we agreed to continue the repairs.  They did a very nice job & had many more people than I expected working at the same time, added significantly extra insulation, and still came only slightly over the estimate.
I only gave them a C or B on quality because I still have water coming in the basement - now from block that they installed, plus what I had before.  I don't really know that this is anything wrong that they did, but it is frustrating after spending all that money.  I will need to have them back again, to see if they can determine the source of the water.  (Definitely my fault for not calling them back, not unresponsiveness from them.)  Certainly the repairs were needed & nicely done - but it didn't solve my water problems.

    Update:
After a week with no response to my email, I hired yet another contractor to look into the water problems.  We dug up the foundation & discovered CJM had not put any foundation sealer on the new block wall they installed. (We also found a hole in the foundation wall 2 feet below ground, which we think was part of my water seepage.) CJM put a very pretty vinyl frame around the outside faucet.  Upon inspection, we found the frame caught water & channeled it  along the bottom of the siding right into a 3" hole in the side of the house that they didn't repair. They did $4000 in repairs and didn't fix a 3" hole in the wall (my original concern in hiring them), just sided over it!  Can't wait to see how many mice I would get in that this winter!  I have updated my review, as I would not hire them again.  As I said, they were very pleasant, courteous & appeared hard working & knowledgeable.  But they did not address my problems, and I feel like I got ripped off.

It went extremely well. They completed the job in seven days. They cleaned up after each days work. They were timely ... and there when they said they would be! They were extremely courteous, considerate, conscientious and polite. The finished work was almost flawless. My wife and I are extremely pleased. We will be calling them in the future.

I think they did a great job. They came in, they were professional, got it all completed in one day. They were in and out and they got the job done, basically the purpose of it was to prevent a lot of noise coming from the basement or going from the first floor to the basement and what they did was effective, it worked. I thought there price was fair.

The install proceeded well, except for an issue of installing a gable vent that we had wanted and had contracted for. The installers referred me to their boss who confirmed that they would not be installing the vent and agreed to a cash refund for the price of that service. I received the refund check a few weeks later. The materials and the quality of the work were very good.
On the negative side, we had since had some minor problems getting to the attic windows because in their zeal to insulate the attic well, they installed insulation right over the window handles and we had to cut and remove some insulation to get the windows open. Cleanup was not as good as we had been led to expect. I now have the entire contents of my attic all piled on one side. I am a handicapped woman in my 60's and I cannot lift heavy objects alone. They did not return things to where they originally found them, they did not rehang my attic light back on the ceiling or put the ladder back against the wall they found it.
To the company's credit the owner did come and do a follow up visit to look at the work and to ask how were liked the install and we were honest and said we were happy with it, but we did not bring up all the small problems with the cleanup so he therefore did not have the opportunity to make it right.

Peter Came and did estimate which was reasonable in cost compared to competition. Completed job in timely fashion. Our only complaint was that they detached our air conditioner duct from the air exchanger and left it. Also left insulation in overflow pan. Our air conditioner person reattached duct work and vacuumed out pan to avoid flooding from pan.

I have been replacing windows a little at time over quite a few years. The work they did was excellent and the quality of their windows are much better than others I have seen, especially those in big box stores or even well known brands like Pella. I have also used them for blow in insulation which they did for a very reasonable price and helped a great deal. My house hardly had any insulation. When two of the windows showed signs of condensation the salesman immediately ordered new windows and came back and put them right in as soon as he got them. Even though it was only half the window, they ordered a complete window and I have the other parts just in case the 2 tops fail (it hasn't).My ONLY complaint was using them for gutters. They contracted out for this service and their contractor did a poor job. I had to have them come back twice but I think they rushed thru the job and did not had them properly. Pena specializes in windows, doors, siding, and insulation and that is what I would stick to in using them. On those projects they do the work themselves.

I can only speak highly of them.  I like that they clean up after themselves and that their work has been very competent.  The men that have come out have been polite and I don’t mind having them around.  They would be the first ones that I would call.  We find that their prices are competitive and that we get what we pay for.
