    Edward Sall DDS,MD
My initial call to schedule an appointment was odd in that immediately upon hearing that I needed help with a snoring problem the appointment setter told me that I had a condition called sleep apnea ... is she diagnosing me? ... she said that I'd called the right place because Dr. Sall is a specialist in sleep apnea. She scheduled an appointment 6 weeks in the future. I'd never seen Dr. Sall prior to my first appointment, yet in that initial appointment he firmly refused to listen to my medical history. When I tried repeatedly to explain my situation/circumstances he told me that my previous car accident was not relevant to my visit there and he said that there was no way that Worker's Compensation could possibly be involved in a sleep apnea issue. I tried to tell him that after the accident I went through 3 separate sleep studies and that none of them showed me as having any sleep apnea. He then rudely informed me that he deals with people complaining of snoring issues at least 6-8 times per week and that he knows what he's talking about and that I don't! The first thing he needed to do for my treatment was order a sleep study to determine the severity of my sleep apnea problem. (This guy does NOT listen!) Again, I tried to explain my medial history (car accident and trauma induced TMJ/snoring) and again he told me that none of that mattered to him. I was obviously talking to the wall. (Just give me my dental appliance and let me go.)

After waiting 30 days for someone to call me and tell me the date of my sleep study I called the office back ... only to find that my file had been refiled. Someone on his staff had and quot;dropped the balland quot; and never arranged for my sleep study! Three days later I received a call from his insurance/billing staff person. She was very rude to me and told me that there is and quot;no way that Worker's Compensation will pay for the sleep studyand quot; and that Dr Sall was refusing to fill out some kind of special form for Worker's Comp to get it pre-authorized. I was so upset by this point that I told her to do whatever she could and to let Worker's Comp make the decision whether to pay for my treatment or not. Worker's Comp did pre-approve the study ... proving this lady and Dr. Sall both wrong.

When I showed up for the sleep study the technician kept talking about my sleep apnea problems. I was furious! In spite of my best efforts to explain my medical history/circumstances to several people on Dr. Sall's staff and to Dr. Sall himself, my records were still incorrectly reflecting sleep apnea as a diagnosis! I gave my medical history to the sleep study technician and told her that my 3 previous sleep studies all showed snoring without any statistically significant sleep apnea. She made a note of my medical history for their files. Sure enough, this sleep study also showed snoring without any statistically significant sleep apnea ... proving Dr. Sall and his staff wrong again!

I called Dr. Sall's office to schedule my post-sleep study follow up appointment, as requested. That appointment was scheduled for 6-7 weeks in the future. I had arranged for my family doctor to receive a copy of the sleep study results and I obtained a copy of those results from him. I now had proof that I don't have sleep apnea in my hands when I went to my 2nd appointment with Dr. Sall.

During my 2nd appointment with Dr. Sall he mentioned in passing that I didn't have sleep apnea and proceeded to talk about the several thousand dollar cost for the dental appliance that I need. At no point did he apologize for his previous misdiagnosis or his previous refusal to listen to me and my medical history. He continued to hold fast to his incorrect belief that Worker's Comp would not pay for my treatment and told me to schedule a fitting appointment with his staff on the way out. Staff informed me that the next available appointment was 6-8 weeks in the future. I walked away and will NEVER again do business with this doctor or anyone associated with his practice.

I'm 53 years old and have had occassion to see many doctors in many specialties over my lifetime. My experience with Dr. Sall and his staff was by far the single worst experience I've EVER had with any medical professional. I don't see any reason for it to take so long to book an appointment with their office. I can't understand why they have their appointment setting staff member diagnosing patients over the phone. I don't understand why any medical office or doctor would refuse to listen to a patient about their relevant medical history or their documented insurance coverage! I had a horrible experience with this practice and doctor from the first phone call to the day I walked out and found a different provider to make my dental appliance. My advice is that you stay away from this charlatan and his imcompetent staff!
