Auto Service reviews in Syracuse

Just polite enough for you to trust them. Then they bill you for hundreds of dollars. I feel as though I agreed to be robbed. They politely convince you to agree with them for services that dont need to be done. I literally downloaded the yelp app specifically to write this review. I do partially take the blame because I should have trusted the reviews I read online before taking my car in (thats my fault) ... now here is what is not my fault I left feeling completely take advantage of when looking over my bill with trusted individuals after receiving my service. Fehlman brothers will nickel and dime you. They also took my car on a 12mile ride which was recorded on my odometer. After paying them just a pinch over $500.00 they failed my inspection for my parking break. Then tried to convince me to agree to an additional $500 to repair my cables. Also and additional $400 for rear breaks. I said no to those additional services. In less than 24hrs I had my car inspected no problem. For $21. And its not like a took my car to some hole in the wall shop for that to happen. It is a reputable location. Not even a mention of my parking brake. I basically have $500+ in my pocket still because I chose to take my car somewhere else. Thats not even the end of my rant... my father went in with my bill to talk to the owner. I have been refused any type of refund. Zero negotiation. Then someone from Fehlman brothers has the audacity called me to talk over my bill. This guy treated me like an idiot. Condescending jerk. I hate how that made me feel. I wish I didnt even answer the call(Curiosity got the best of me). I dont know car mechanics. Thats not my job. Im a school teacher. However I do trust the people who looked over my bill and I will never return for service from the Fehlman Brothers(on Midler ave... I have heard good things about the shop on burnet but have never personally been there. I just want to clarify that this review is for the Fehlman Brothers on Midler) ... so my friends on yelp. Steer clear unless youve got money to burn... because I might as well have set mine cash on fire and toasted marshmallows. That at least would have been delicious.

    John's Auto Care inc.
I was impressed by the customer service I received at John's. I needed a NYS inspection and they fit me in same day and fixed an issue with one of my tire pressure sensors without even charging. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I'll bring my business back here until I have reason not to.

They are a fairly new dealership. Nissan never has recalls. That's why I stay with Nissan. They are customer service oriented. They treat you like family. They are friendly and they explain things to you. You are not just a Joe Blow walking in for an oil change. You are treated with respect, basically.

I lease a car, everything is done at the lease dealership. I don't buy, I lease so that way I can get a top of the line car at a lower price. I get rid of vehicles every three years. Here's the kick, I got a service book that my car needed an oil change. It's a new car, it's a 2016 loaded to the gills. I brought it to the dealership, the guy looked over the records and checked my mileage. He said I didn't need an oil change because I have synthetic oil that's good for a full year, or x number of months. He said that I didn't have to have it done, and that I shouldn't have received a notice. I'm going through a break in period with the car. Like any new car, all of the parts are wearing, especially a new engine you get fine metal clippings and gratings. I am a strong believer in an oil change. I get it done every couple months. Even though he said I didn't need it done, the car was at least six months old, it's going through its breaking in period, and I asked him the price of the regular oil versus the synthetic. The regular oil is $29, the synthetic oil was $60, so I went with the synthetic oil. Their price was fair. I've checked the price of synthetic oils at other local auto parts shops, including a filter if I was to do it myself. Their price was reasonable. The car was spotless when I brought it in, spotless when I brought it back. They actually told me that I didn't need to have service, it was my choice whether I wanted to get it done. I choose to get it done. They sat down and explained to me the advantages of synthetic oil. I was very happy. My car was ready in less than 45 minutes. They are courteous, polite and knowledgeable. It's like I was a member of their family. I even sent a thing to their parent company in Ithaca indicating how pleased I was with my experience with the dealership. I am going back in July to get my New York state inspection with them.

There were no delays, drawbacks or hesitations. When we were negotiating, they through out a payment that I thought was too high. They came down to my price, through in the paint sealant and signed the contract.

In August 2015, the bike rack (and extender) was stolen and we discovered the incorrect hitch installation when our replacement bike rack would not connect to the 1.5 inch hitch. We got the run around from the Lamacchia son over the phone until he agreed to meet with us. When we arrived at our appointment time, we were told we would have to wait an hour. We asked to speak with the father Lamacchia and he would not speak with us for more than a moment. Both father and son blamed us for waiting a year to complain, when in fact we had only learned of the incorrect installation a year later. We were very disappointed that they had installed the wrong-sized hitch, attached an extender without telling us, and made no effort to address the problem. Note that they charged us $817.48 for the hitch and installation. When we purchased a new CRV (not from Lamacchia!), the hitch installation and purchase was $300 at Fehlman Brothers, compared to $817.48 at LaMacchia.

I go to Honda City for all my car care. That is where I buy my cars and I like their service. I go to them for many different things. They provide quality service. I would not keep going if they did not give me “A” service! I lease cars and they get regular inspections. Great service!

It was very good. I was very impressed with them. Usually car dealerships, you just want to knock them over the head. If they were looking for Hyundai, to go there. They seem to know what they're doing. If that was the kind of car I will buy, I'd go there. I'm thinking this is probably my last car.

    Absolute Detail & Wash
I'm not sure where to begin. As a repeat customer I thought I would receive the customer service and quality work that I had come to expect, only to be horribly disappointed by the business owner's behavior and actions. I arrived promptly at the business location a few minutes before the owner arrived. Upon his arrival at 9 AM, the owner pulled into the closest parking spot to the door which was clearly marked as "handicapped parking" despite no display of hang tags in his car, or obvious physical disability. Upon entering the business, the owner appeared quite anxious and immediately told me that he was the only one working that day and that he had 4 cars scheduled to be detailed. I sympathized and agreed to pick up my vehicle at 4 PM or later to give him as much flexibility as he required. Upon my return around 4:30 PM that same day I noticed my vehicle gleaming with a beautiful shine. I checked in and paid the owner for his work. When I got into my vehicle I immediately noticed that the carpets and mats were clean and the glass had clearly been cleaned nicely. However, there was still grease and dirt on each interior door panel on the armrest and handhold used to close the door. I went back inside to tell the owner that the vehicle looked great but that there was obvious dirt and grime in the door panels that had not been cleaned. I assumed this would be no more than a 5-10 minute touch up and then I could be on my way. Unfortunately, that's when the owner became visibly upset and exhibited extremely unprofessional behavior. The owner told me that he refused to look at the issue and that he had no intention of addressing it at all. He then stated that I didn't pay enough for his services because I had ordered using Groupon. I had already done my due diligence prior to ordering by calling the business to inquire about their advertisement at Groupon and was told it was equivalent to their 'Silver' package listed on the business web site. The owner further elaborated that he makes $6,000/day detailing cars for local car dealerships and that he didn't need my business anyway. He then walked away and told me to have a good day quite dismissively. I went outside, took pics of the dirty door panels and other issues that I found. As I sat in the vehicle that I drove to pick up, the owner came outside and asked if I planned on having him detail the vehicle I was sitting in too. I replied that I had no intention of ever doing business with him again. The owner then said "suck my dick" and pointed to his vehicle parked in the handicapped space and said "I have a $40,000 car, why do I need your business?" He then threatened me and invited me to step back inside his business in order to fight him so that we wouldn't be recorded by his outdoor camera. I prefer to write glowing reviews of my positive experiences with local businesses. As a small business owner I know how hard it is to establish word of mouth credibility so I do my part to let others know when I receive great service. I hope anyone who considers doing business with Absolute Detail and Wash will be wary due to the awful experience that I had there today.
