    Petro gives a free service agreement to new customers. I agreed. Why would anyone pay high prices for oil and agree to pay $200 for a service agreement? No one would. After a year I cancelled. They called me and begged me to come back, once again offering me a free service agreement. I agreed. This went on for another couple of years. Then I decided to cancel for good and buy oil cheaper from a local company that offers discount oil on the internet. Petro decided to send me a bill for $200 and threaten to put me in collections. After I cleared it up with their Plainview, NY office, I keep getting threats from their corporate office. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau. If that does not work I will turn it over to my attorney. I will not sit for this type of harassment. I suggest you find a company that IS Not a corporate conglomerate.

    Ended up replacing the thermostat - which in hind sight I should���ve tried myself before calling but he checked the voltage to make sure everything was originally installed correctly and then gave me the new thermostat at cost. Very nice man.

    I called Ed the owner to look into the leaking relief valve. Over the phone he quoted me $125 labor charge plus cost of any parts used on the job. He came by to attend to the leaky boiler problem. He noticed that the relief valve was new, the water infeed valve to the boiler was new, the expansion tank was also new. He immediately therefore, concluded that it must be an internal part in the boiler (coil) that would need renewing. He quoted me $7,500 for this aspect. This boiler is only 4 years old and I had paid no more than $4,000 for a brand new boiler inclusive of installation to four heating zones to a professional plumbing Company in Nassau County, NY. So I asked him how much would it cost me to renew the boiler instead? He quoted me around $10,000 plus. At this juncture, I realized that this guy was trying to rip me off as he was demanding an answer from me to whether or not to proceed with the job. I informed him that I would need to think about it as the two quoted options seemed outrageously high. So I suggested to him to put a stop in the meantime to prevent water flowing into the boiler. This would give me some time to review the matter. For this he quoted me $575 + tax . I asked him how he arrived at that figure? He felt insulted and started lecturing me that he is a highly qualified plumber and that $700 to $1,000 for an hour job was nothing. I told him that he was entitled to $125 labor charge plus any parts used. The stop cap can be no more than$10. Even if paid $100 for this cap, it would not amount to $575. Seeing that he had an attitude problem, I simply paid him the $125 + tax for coming over and wasting our time.

    I liked the guy very much. I thought he was honest. I got a couple of estimates and it was the lowest one. I liked them very much. They did it in half a day. It was quick and I would definitely recommend them. They scheduled me quickly. They were clean. They gave me a quick response. I called and got a response within an hour. They were in and out. They put a rush on it because I have an elderly father living with me and we had no air conditioning. They gave me options. I really like them.

    I had my old central ac replaced with a new unit which costed me $7200. During the installation, they find a copper pipe that was damaged bc of a recent roofing job that was done. (I am guessing that this is why my old unit was not working and if I fixed this, I didn't need a new ac.) After the one day job was complete, I get a bill for another $600 to repair the copper pipe. I was not told during the contract signing or when they found the copper pipe that there would be an extra charge, I tried to reason with them but they said that they will void my warranty and not process my rebate if I don't pay. I feel like I'm paying for a new ac unit AND paying for a repair job for my old unit. Very, very disappointed with Stan Gelber.

    Petro did a very good job and arrived within their time window. They need to improve their call-center service since it seems I'm always on hold for 15 minutes or more to call for service. Unacceptable

    Customer service person was very nice, but repeatedly told me that they sell complete systems only and do not replace components. I'm not sure if customer service really understands their products and services, which does not inspire a lot of confidence. Or, maybe I misunderstood their website, even though it says Petro provides CAC sales and service. Maybe I need a better home address. I called Petro first after compiling a list of A-rated CAC vendors from Angie's List. I called them first because some neighbors use Petro and are generally happy. I'm hopeful that someone will read this and follow-up since I think the happy customers in my neighborhood are a good indicator of a company's quality.
