Pediatric Care reviews in Staten Island

  • Drs. Kipp and Guttikonda have been my son's pediatrician for approximately seven years - I don't have an exact date. Both doctors have treated my son with warm reassurance, and the office staff has been of great assistance when records have been required for school or camp. Such minor complaints as any child has (bronchitis, seasonal allergy) have been treated conservatively and effectively. There are separate facilities for well children and ill visitors. Although facilities could perhaps use an update this is to my mind of small importance beside the quality of care provided. Waits are sometimes long - occasionally over half an hour, and once as long as 2 hours, though this was an "urgent care" visit and not a regular appointment - but time spent talking with the doctor is good and we feel it's worth the wait.

  • My son went with my wife to visit this doctor for the first time, as we moved recently to Staten Island. The service was great, the attention given was very professional and the services rendered outstanding.

  • Doctor instructed the continual care and monitoring of hand for blood poisoning! Fortunately hand shrank back to normal size and baby no worse. Stick insect repellent every time he goes out now, and no more bites.

  • I brought my grandson to see Dr. Koplow for he was not feeling well or himself. He treated my grandson then turned to insult and said," My grandson is going to die." I asked him why and he said,"That I am not feeding him the right foods, that my home was filled with candy and Junk. What did he eat for breakfast? And you what did you eat for breakfast? You do not know how to feed him the proper foods."  I told him if my grandson ate like me, he would be eating more vegetables. To me he implied I was a very heavy person and did not care for him. He even ask if I loved him.
I did not have to be abuse by his words, He was talking very loud and at some points he yelled like  I was a child. This is not why I went to him. I have been caring for a Husband for three years with Leukemia. He passed way on July 12, 2012. For the last year my plate has been filled. I have been both mother/father, Grandma/Grandpa to my family. I did not want them to feel the empity space that I feel all the time.
For all the years my daughter chooses to use him I have yet to see a kind or gentle side to him. If a doctor is not happy in his field then it is time for him to leave not abuse his patients.

  • They are personable and they know me by name. They treat me like family when I go there. I would highly recommend them. Dr. McMann has a lot of experience and he has a good personality with kids. I have been very happy with him. I have never had a problem. Sometimes you do wait a little bit.

  • It was easy to make an appointment and the day before, I received a call confirming the appointment. The check-up went well. There is a separate waiting room for the well babies/kids and they have a tv in the waiting room. Our wait time was probably 15mins. The staff was courteous and helpful. Dr. Liezl is very professional and very patient. Being a first time mom, I had a lot of questions for her but she answered them all. She also personally administered the vaccines. I'm glad I chose her to be my son's pediatrician.

  • He is very practical and uses a lot of common sense.  He doesn’t over prescribe anything and he is easy to understand.  He is on the ball with everything.  He is excellent with the kid.  We haven’t had any issues and we are pleased with them.  Overall I like him a lot.

  • We have been seeing him for years. He’s been apart of the community for a long time. He is a very comfortable doctor to go to. He is very easy to talk to and the kids are very comfortable with him as well. Everyone that works there is very nice. It’s not too hard to make an appointment with him.

  • Dr Vilaverde was my children's doctor from 2008-2011. The only reason why I left is because we had to move out of state due to the Army. She has to be the most dedicated MD I have ever met. She always took the time with the both of them taking the time to build a true rapport with them. When my youngest was sick and had to be hospitalized for a week, she constantly called the hospital to make sure that she was fine and got the best care by the staff. My only regret is that I couldn't take her with me to Georgia :(.

  • He came to my house two weeks ago. It's easier for him to come here and visit us than for me to take my daughter in the wheelchair over there. He will make house calls in special cases and that's very rare these days. It comes from his heart and he is very knowledgeable. I am a registered nurse and so I can be very picky and I can also be accused of being am over protective mother so I can be a pain in the neck. There is a lot that he puts up with me.
