AMonticello ChimneyJimmy discovered that, right above the wood stove, the chimney was totally blocked. That explained why even paper wouldn’t burn. The same thing happened last year. Jimmy made a slight modification and he thinks it will greatly reduce the buildup. He left less than an hour ago and my wood stove is blazing. I could not be more pleased.- Dorothea P.

ANML Contracting & RoofingJoe was always very prompt in either answering my phone calls or returning them. He is a very personable young man and super friendly. He gave us an estimate on what replacing eight windows in our old house would cost, which beat all the others I had contacted by far. Work was completed within two weeks of getting our deposit, which included time to order them and was also over a holiday weekend. The windows are terrific and the chimney repair is amazing! Joe and his crew are truly great people and he really values his customers and makes sure he follows up to make sure you are satisfied. ASOLID ROCK MASONRYWhen my boss told me he had no luck finding anyone to inspect and correct the foundation issues on his older home, my 20 years experience working for a structural engineer in another state told me that my boss needed to find a contractor that basically no longer existed. What he needed was someone with the intelligence, ingenuity and integrity to do the job right: to save his home from imminent physical demise stemming from foundation issues by restoring structural integrity to a home which unaided was sure to collapse soon. What he wanted was a contractor to do the job - a dirty and physically demanding job - requiring load calculations encompassing more than average complexity to correct the weight bearing deficiencies of the original construction, in hot working conditions of less than 2 feet in places within which to maneuver oneself, heavy cement and wooden beams. What he hoped for was a reasonable price on the mammoth undertaking to save his home from imminent, if not immediate, demise. What he got far exceeded all my expectations. Lee Krom, the owner and operator of Solid Rock Masonry documented and delivered his remediation presentation via pictures of the existing structure, explained the outline of the remediation process for the job as stated in the contract and executed the task while documenting the remediation via pictures! He was clear and concise and easy to understand for both the more experienced homeowner as well as the novice. Beyond saving the home from foundation issues he solved a related retaining wall and water issue exasperated by gutter run off on one level and the water table as the wall descends into the basement from outside. When the gutter contractor dropped the ball, Mr Krom personally took steps until the outside stair basin at basement level is bone dry after torrential rains!!!! He replaced a badly needed chimney which an apparently dishonest “contractor” told my boss was in excellent shape because upon in fact he found that it really did have a hole in it that a cat could climb through! Mr Krom himself built my boss a new chimney and took the time to get some special brick to make the badly need chimney as charming as the house. HE DID NOT CHARGE FOR THE SPECIAL BRICKS AS WELL AS COUNTLESS OTHER THINGS. He could not have been more thoughtful. He also completed a demolition an regrading project and installed a slab for the screen house. When my boss could not round up enough hands to erect the screen house the owner of the company, Lee Krom sent his crew over on a Saturday to make it happen! My boss cannot say enough about this man and his company and it is readily apparent why. Mr Krom of Solid Rock Masonry possesses the education, tenacity and compassion that every home and business owner dreams of. The prices are heavenly while the crew was a pleasure to have around, The finished job(s) - beautiful! I have never worked with a more compassionate contractor!!! One would be foolish not to contact him.- Ann L.

FI called Ram Air to install a new central air conditioning unit in my modular home. After installation there was a strong odor of burning rubber which made me sick. I called the owner and he came out and did something and said it was fixed. It was not, as soon as the unit came on the same odor was still there. He said it would stop after the unit was run for awhile. It has not stopped and I cannot run the unit due to the strong noxious odor. I called back and he said there was nothing he could and to stop calling him and hung up. I called the manufacture, Carrier and they gave me the name of qualified installer in the area. He said the odor was coming from burning rubber on the coil as the installer had used to much heat when connecting the lines. I called the coil manufacture and they said the same thing. The manufacture said the coil was under a parts warranty but that did not include labor which would be very expensive. I emailed Ram Air, as he would not answer my phone calls and advised him of the conversations I had and he never answered me. I am going to have to hire another installer to correct his mistakes at considerable cost to me. In the meantime I have no A/C. I can not use it due to the strong odor which is making me sick.

FWorker completed inspection and found coolant was low as it had been leaking from schrader valves that had not been properly capped by previous worker from this same company during previous servicing in 2018. Worker added coolant and two brass caps for which I was charged $496 (paid by credit card). One half hour after worker left, AC unit stopped working. I called and worker came right back. He said it was common for capacitor to fail after recharging. He replaced the capacitor and the AC started right up. Worker then hooked up a device to read if the AC was now working properly and he immediately shut the AC unit down and told me the AC compressor had blown and needed to be replaced. He gave me estimate for repair of compressor (about $1900) and for replacement of entire unit ($4200). I decided I should get other estimates and a few days later the owner of another AC/heating business came to my house, put in a new capacitor and the AC started working. When he hooked up his meter he stated all of the values were good and now 3 weeks later my AC (only 10 years old) continues to work fine. I contacted Mr. Bloom, the owner of Interstate, who stated he was surprised that his worker had ‘missed’ that as he is a good worker. I asked Bloom for an adjustment on the $496 I had paid for the service call and he stated his company had performed the services and I was owed nothing. Needless to say, this company will not be allowed on my property in the future.
