Handyman reviews in South Ozone Park

    Above & Beyond Carpentry Inc.
I had some plumbing work done last month and there were a couple holes where they replaced the shower pipes in the wall.  I wasn't sure how to repair the tile so I got the $250 4hr Handyman deal from Above & Beyond Carpentry.  I called and spoke to Mark Wirth and he said they could do the work in the 4hr period.  He told me what they needed me to buy before they got there (you supply materials and they supply tools) and we made an appointment.  However, 2 days before he was supposed to show up I had to call to reschedule (I couldn't find matching tile).   I found the tile a couple days later and called Mark back.  He said his coworker Mike would be doing the work and he would have Mike call me to make an appointment to come do the work.  Mike called a day later to make sure I had all the required material and we made an appointment.
Mike called a couple times that morning before he came to remind me what time he would be there and to let me know he was pulling up in front of the house.  I showed him what I needed done and brought the material to the front of the house.  He went to work and did an excellent job.  He was in and out of the house a number of times, but he to cut tile and obviously didn't want to do it in the house.  He finished the work in just under 3 hours, cleaned up and was done (I wish I had anticipated he would finish with so much time to spare, I could have had a couple other things done).   He said it would take a couple days to set and would be available to use.  He didn't use much of the grout I bought so I had to pay $25 for materials, but when it dried it looked terrific (the premixed grout I bought dries gray and the grout in the bathroom is white so he used what he had on the truck).
My overall impression of Mark and Mike is that they are friendly, professional and know what they were doing.  I will definitely be using them again.

They were a great help to me.  I purchased one of the Angie's List deals as I was looking for a Handyman.  They were on time.  They were pleasant and diligent in their work.

As they had time left over, they asked me if I wanted them to check the attic for the possible leak (I had a plumber come to the house the night before and it was decided that the leak was not coming from any of my pipes in bathroom or kitchen).  The plumber suggested that I have my roof checked.  When Ivan and his partner were done with their original work, they proceeded to make a quick check of the attic and they were the ones who discovered the broken pipe on the a/c unit.  They did volunteer to do the work, but, as mentioned above, I have an HVAC contract.

I am already making lists of things that need or may need to be done.  I would recommend them highly.  Great find!

.But they gained my respectthe work was done seeirst of all Lawrence called me and asked what did i need done when i told him he said that would not be a problem. He told me to buy the materials and his men would install it you see I'm a paraplegic and cannot, get store easily,Well they sent Ivan who is a very nice fellow he and simmon came to the house did some measurements told me they would go to homedepot and buy the door they called me to say that they could not find it and would have to make something up.Well they called me on the 3rd and asked me could the come on the 4th at 2pm I agreed low an behold they were at my door at 130 ready to work . The work was done and they even went over the 4hrs put did not charge me.I thought that was real thoughtful of them professionally and in a timely fashion but what I liked about them was i left them upstairs by themselves and because I'm a paraplegic and can't walk nobody was their to oversee their work. But their work has earned my respect and trust" and I will tell anyone who reads this their name speaks for it self HIRE THEM you won't regret it.

    Mr. Handyman of NE Queens
Larry was extremely responsive, pleasant and professional. He scheduled the repairs ina timely manner. George , who came out to do the work was competent, pleasant and professional as well. He arrived on time, worked hard, didn't waste time and did a great job. The garage door was a particularly difficult because it hadn't been done in years and has a lot on detail work. George did an amazing job with that. He did a good job putting in the security door but I think he may have not measured it properly because he ended up having to put a wood piece in on the side.

    Angelo Cingari Painting & Handymen
Angelo kept to his original estimate. Was able to do the job efficiently. He had the materials he needed, not running out constantly for a different type of nails or tool. He was careful, thorough and able to do everything he said he could. He was respectful of the house - he was neat and not intrusive.

    Mr. Handyman of NE Queens
When Marco arrived, I showed him the jobs I wanted done. He made a list of supplies he would need to buy and then he started by moving the wood platform bed from one room to another. This proved to be much more difficult than I anticipated it would be, due to the narrowness of the hall, and the angles of the doors through which the bed had to be moved. Marco removed the head and foot boards of the bed, in order for the bed to maneuver around the corners and he had to stand the bed up to push it through the doorways. He then reattached head and foot boards. He glued on the block of wood that had fallen off the side of the bed by attaching a piece of wood behind it, inside the frame, so that the block of wood had something to be attached to. Next he assembled the metal platform bed frame. He had to carry all the pieces of the bed from my living room down the hall into the bedroom, where he read the directions, and proceeded to put the bed together. After he put the bed together, he put the mattress from the wood platform bed onto the new metal bed. At this point, Marco went out for lunch, and at the same time went to a home improvement store to buy a new smoke alarm to replace the broken one I had, as well as buying caulking and adhesive for 2 jobs it turned out he ran out of time to do, and which he will do on next appointment. When he returned, he reversed the closet door, which turned out to be a bigger job than I anticipated, mostly because of the faulty carpentry work of the original builder of my 48 year old house. Marco explained to me everything he was doing with the door, so that I understood what the problems were. He successfully removed the molding that stops the door, and reattached it on the other side. He also moved and realigned the outer door molding strip on the right side, so that the door would not have a large space between it and the molding. He successfully moved and reattached the hinges, and the door jam and the door knob. I am very happy with this job, and I set up a rack in my newly acquired storage space upon which I now have all my shoes, neatly, in one place. It is also now easier to get into the rest of this closet. Marco installed the two new toilet seats I had bought, a task I had frustratingly been unable to do myself due to lack of hand strength caused by illness. Marco also put up the newly bought smoke alarm for me. And last but not least, he fixed the misaligned kitchen cabinet door that has been a small nuisance for too long a time. I was very happy that I was able to get these jobs done. Marco was very professional throughout, and I look forward to his returning to continue my list of things to do!
