Pet Euthanasia In the Comfort of Home
Having to decide on the right day to euthanize our first furry best friend was gut wrenching. Our twelve year old golden retriever was unable to walk more than a few feet due to cancer affecting his one leg making it useless.  We wanted to bring Casey to our vets to be euthanized because he loved the staff at the facility.  However, we were concerned that carrying him to the car and into the vet's office would be too stressful on him.  He was so comfortable laying on his own bed with his favorite toy.  Because of our dilemma, our vet suggested we call "In the Comfort of Home".  Families that used this service provided very favorable feedback.
We called and left a message and within five minutes we had a call back.  Talking to Dr. Roger Blankfein for a few minutes made the decision easy. His calming voice and compassion was evident.  He validated what we already knew that it was Casey's time. He came to our house the next day.  He explained every step and let us ask as many questions as needed.  We never felt rushed. Dr. Roger sat on the floor with us and Casey as we talked.  He encouraged us to let our other furry friends to watch to avoid them looking for Casey after he leaves.  Dr. Roger gave us as much time as needed. Dr. Roger also made a perfect paw print in clay and placed a fur clipping in a container. After Casey passed, he left the house to give the family private time. When ready, he returned with a stretcher and we helped him carry Casey to the car.
You have options on how you want to handle the body which he reviewed us.  We wanted Casey cremated and ashes returned in an urn.
What makes Dr. Roger ever more special is he contributes a portion of his fee to the local humane society.  He also takes the time to send a very sincere sympathy card.  This man is a class act.
With this being a very sad and tearful day for us, we were comforted having said our goodbyes to our favorite dog "In the Comfort of Home".

    ANIMAL PROTECTION FOUNDATION
We adopted our dog from Animal Protection Foundation. This is a superior local organization. They deal with animals that need to be re-homed. The animals are all of local origin and they take care of the immediate community, which is the Schenectady area. This is a clean, well-lit, well-run facility where every animal is highlighted to it's absolute best appearance. You go in and you feel that the animals are well cared for and that they would instantly merge in to your family. They are an astonishing organization. Somebody gave them a whole bunch of money and they really spent it well. I will use them again, recommend them to others, and donate money to them.

    The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society
We adopted our cat from The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. We love Mohawk Hudson. This is an extraordinary service. They offer a genuinely caring environment to provide the best setting to showcase the animals that they are trying to put out for adoption. They go out into the wide world and grab up animals that are in high-kill shelters and bring them back up here. They are everything that you could want a rescue organization to be. They go out of their way to perform that at an extraordinarily high level. They are magnificent. I am going to give them extremely high grades for the care that they go through in judging whether or not an animal is suitable for adoption. For an organization with so many volunteers, they get an A for professionalism because they train their volunteers exquisitely.

    CRAWMERS GROOMING & TRAINING
I called to make an appointment and she immediately gave me some simple training to try with my bird so that our first visit would be even more productive. She came to my house right on time, listened and watched and gave very good insights into bird behavior and people/bird interactions. She gave me very specific things to work on with my bird, broken down into very simple steps, with each step building on the step before. We made a follow up appointment for several weeks later. Catherine was always available by phone and email to answer any questions that I had, give advice and encouragement and to suggest even more resources on the web. My bird and I have made real progress and it's been fun for both of us. At the follow up visit, Catherine outlined an approach to help make my interactions with my bird even more rewarding. She is genuinely interested in my pet and me, and committed to helping us make progress.
