Dr David Abraham is the greatest. I have resumed downhill skiing, I do bicycle rides of greater than 50 miles, I have hiked a couple of the 14'ers in the Rockies, walk 18 holes of golf while carrying my bag, walk greater than 10 miles a day when I can. Note: recovery is on you the patient. I pushed myself hard with the knowledge and support of Dr Abraham and Steve Valenti (PA). Thanks to everyone at OrthoNY. I am now getting ready to have both shoulders repaired - not replaced.

I called at around 8:30 AM. After talking to the initial receptionist, I was on hold briefly (about 5-7 minutes) and then got a receptionist in the office. She asked me some questions; I told her I thought I broke my foot. She asked if I could make it in for an appointment in 90 minutes! I went to the Albany (Washington Avenue) location. It is quite a large operation - almost like an assembly line, but that's not to say unpleasant in any way. Everyone was pretty friendly. I waited about 5 minutes to be called to the examining room; I waited another 5 minutes or so there. My appointment was with Doctor Lozman. He was friendly, very quick but answered my questions. He sent me to Xray (right down the hall!). I waited another 10 minutes or so there, and then another 10 in the examining room. He gave me the diagnosis, a prescription, some foot equipment, and I was on my way. This is an efficient operation, and they work quickly, so if you are looking for a measured, chatty experience with your doctor, I wouldn't recommend them. However, I was there to get fixed and get out, and they did that well. They were friendly, gave me the information I needed, and I was on my way. I definitely recommend jotting down your questions - your face time with the doctor is pretty limited, and you'll want to make sure you don't forget anything. I will definitely go back if (when?) I have another injury.

    Bilfield, Dr. Bryan S.
A friend told me about Dr. Bilfield and I immediately made an appointment. He listened, really listened. He examined my knee and exrayed it. Then, he informed me that my knee was bone-on-bone, in fact both knees were. But, the right knee was the worst. He didn't frighten me, just told me the truth and gave me his medical opinion. I told him I was ready for total knee replacement. I was sent for an MRI and then for another set of images which would be sent to the engineers who would make percise caps for the bones in my leg. These caps would then fit onto the bones and then into the replacement knee. He also told me he would have to reset two bones which were deformed because of my walking on a and quot;badand quot; knee. Dr. Bilfield explained the entire surgical procedure and answered all my questions. If I presented a questions which may have been badly stated, he considered them and then calmly answered it. I felt very comfortable asking any and all questions and presenting situations about which I was concerned. I knew he cared. I don't remember anything about the surgery. However, nurses woke me after one-day of surgery recovery and told me to stand. This is essential so that blood clots do not form. Yes, it was painful. However, I was given appropriate sedation and felt comfortable overall. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful the nurses and staff at St. Peters Hospital were. Dr. Bilfield knew everything about my condition and was prompt to act when necessary. I was send to the Mercy Care Center for recovery (see my review of this Center.) Aftercare from Dr. Bilfield was extremely beneficial. Again, he examined my knee, sent me to a physical therapist, and challened me to work hard and achieve the flexability I needed for a full life. I stopped taking the pain medication as soon as I could. Whe he felt I was physically and mentally ready, he gave me permission to drive. I felt like a teenager who finally was given his/her set of car keyes. I will return to Dr. Bilfield to have my left knee replaced soon.

They have been my doctors since I broke my arm when I was seven. I would recommend them to others. I have no problems getting appointments to see my doctor. The office environment is very nice. They are good all the way round.

They are really set up to that speciality. They do it well, and get you in and out pretty fast. The doctors there are very good, and have various specialties for the different extremities. They have all necessary equipment to help you on site.

Overall, the visit went Dr. S. did a great job with me. I mentioned that I was preparing for an Ironman triathlon, and wanted to figure out when I could get running again. We discussed my goals, and what I should expect. He was very realistic about I should expect. Overall the visit helped me to know when I could begin running again. The MRI lab there onsite was quick to get the imaging done, and forward the results, and diagnosis quickly. Overall it was a great choice.

    D'Ascoli, Dr. Richard J.
He is a very thorough, kind and caring person. I don't think he is quick to operate unless he thinks it is really necessary. The staff is very good and the office environment is fine. I will use him again in the future.
