    Earl B Feiden Appliance Inc
On Oct 1 2015 I called Earl Feiden's after noticing a large ad in the New York Times regarding recalls on Bosch dishwashers.
I checked the Bosch website and my dishwasher was subject to recall for fire danger and cord attachment needed to be replaced.
I spent 45 minutes on hold waiting to talk to the folks on the Bosch 800 number to find out what to do.  They told me there was no cost to me,  I just had to call my choice of vendors for the repair.  She mentioned 2 vendors and then Feiden's.  I said, great, I made this and other purchases at Feiden's and was sure they can take care of this.
So I call Feiden's and spoke to a young women.   I explained the situation to her and that I purchased the dishwasher at Feiden's.  She checked and said there was nothing she could do because they had not been notified of the recall.   She said she needed specific information.  I told her the Bosch folks told me I needed no additional information and that the vendors knew what to do.  She said, I would have to call Bosch again.   When I told her I had just spent 45 minutes on hold and another 15 minutes talking to Bosch, she said there was nothing she could do.   I told her she could check the Bosch website for the information.   She could also check the New York Times ad.   She said she could do none of the things I suggested.    I asked if she could take my information, check further and get back to me and she said "sorry there is just nothing we can do."   Direct quote by the way.
Wow, what customer service.  I then called one of the other service providers for the recall.  They said no problem.  They would take my information and get back to me when they had all the information they required and could schedule the repair.  They got back to me within a couple days and scheduled and provided the simple repair.
Meanwhile, I cooled off for a couple months and decided I should let Feiden's know about this.  So in early Dec 2015, I called and asked to speak to the service manager.   I left a detailed message, a polite one by the way, and asked that they call me.  I received no response whatsoever.  So there was nothing they could do initially and they do not care enough to improve their customer service with helpful input from customers.
Let me say I have a strong preference for local providers, but this was so substandard, I will never consider purchasing from them again.
They were happy enough when I called with the exact model numbers of appliance I wanted and purchased them.  But any extra effort was too much for them to help me out with my prior purchase.
    Never, never again.

    Bill Rozell Piano Tuning
I was able to make an appointment with Bill, with just a day's notice.  He was prompt, professional, and very patient with my many questions.  He was unable to bring the pitch up to the standard, and this is not uncommon for a piano that has been neglected.  The repairs cost a little more, but I found the price quite reasonable.  It took him about 2 hours, but I will call him again in about 6 months, when he will raise the pitch another half tone, at which point the piano should sound even better, and only require a tuning once a year, to maintain its peak performance.  I was more than pleased with the experience.

    Bournebrook Antiques
Mike Davis did a fabulous job restoring and repairing our antique hutch.  There was a large crack in one of the legs, which now that it is repaired, it is not visible at all.  He strengthened the leg and the entire piece and tightened any loose areas.
As far as restoration, the wood tone is now a magnificent brown and all the drawer handles and door openers are polished to a bright shine.  He restored the glass to pristine quality.  He replaced the worn suede material in the upper drawer with a soft, high quality fabric.
All in all, I can't say enough positive things about Mike Davis -- he picked up and delivered the piece, which was no small feat.   He was prompt, professional and his price was very reasonable for the quality of the work that he did.

    Bournebrook Antiques
Mike Davis, owner of Bournebrook Restoration Services, came to evaluate a large crack in one of the legs of our antique cabinet/hutch and to examine what it would take to restore this piece, which had never been refinished since at least the 1940's.  Mike assured us that he could repair the leg and explained how he would do it.   He also  explained what needed to be done to strip and refinish the piece that had been neglected for much too long.   We were more than curious to see what the final outcome would be.
When the piece was returned to us, we were just overwhelmed with its elegant beauty.  While we had always enjoyed having this antique piece in our dining room, we had no idea just how stunning it really  is.  The quality of the restoration -- the glasswork , the brilliant antique gold of the handles and knobs, the glow of the carvings in the woodwork, the beautiful brown shade of the oak -- it  is just an amazing transformation.   The care and attention that Mike gave is clearly evident , and the skill with which he restored the entire piece is of the highest caliber.
Mike and his helper took great care in transporting the piece to and from his workshop.  His reliability, attention to detail and courteous manner are all added pluses  to the quality of his work ethic.

Robert Hayden returned my call and came to the house promptly. I found his estimate to be very reasonable. He suggested I go to Joanne's fabrics to select something, but when I couldn't find anything on my own he came to the house with samples he had based on what I already had and what I told him I was looking for. One of these samples was perfect. He did an excellent job in a very timely manner. Robert was also very professional and pleasant to work with.

The quality of the work was very good. The chair seat, which had been broken, is now strong and perfectly matches the caning on the back. They took quite a long time, which luckily did not matter to us. It might have gone more quickly had we indicated we were in a rush. When the chair was returned, we realized that a screw, which had been scraping the floor, had not been sunk in as we had earlier requested. They cheerfully took the chair back to their workshop, fixed not only that screw, but all of them, and delivered the chair the following day in perfect condition with no additional charge for sinking the screws.

We were going to do this project ourselves. My husband cut new seat bottoms. I bought fabric and foam. We watched a few you-tube videos. Piece of cake, right? Not so very much if you are starting from scratch like this and if one of you is a perfectionist. We managed to do one cover (not too bad, actually) but it took us an entire afternoon--and how would we ever get them to all look exactly the same. Lesson learned: call a professional. Gave Robert a call. He responded quickly and I dropped our materials off to his Scotia shop. Three days later--got a call that the seats were ready, beautifully finished. Next time, we'll go straight to the professional. Robert was very nice to work with.

On 6/3/12 I had a desk put on layaway.  I was not told the desk would come to my house unassembled.  I purchased the desk on the phone 7/7 and once again was not told anything about the desk not being assembled.  I get the bill and I see in big letters that assembly is my responsibility.  I had no idea.
I called on Sunday 7/15 to ask what the assembly charge would be.  I talked to shipping -- he had no idea.  He referred me to customer service.  She has no idea.  She referred me to the desk department.  He had no idea.  They told me to call the office Monday morning.  That was 18 minutes wasted.  I cancelled the order.
Huck Finn's customer service team called me on Monday, 7/16/12.  The woman on the phone told me that, because it is a special item, if I want a refund, I would lose 50% of the purchase price.   This information is not printed anywhere in their documentation.  I spoke to another individual.  He repeated the same false information.  I asked for the item to be delivered to me without being assembled.
A nice man in their sales office later called, apologized for the misunderstanding and offered me free delivery.  Nice, but it took an hour on the phone and talking to six people to get to that point.
I would strongly recommend not buying from this place unless you can pick up the item and assemble it.

His work is superb. He brings furniture back to you in better shape than it had been when they were new. Everything about it is just good. He had other work upholstered and he had things that had been left as pieces of material. He gives back furniture better than when you gave it and when it was new. He knows a lot about it. The prices are great. The turnaround time is completely reasonable. We had a pair of couches that were done by him and turned around as love seats, they were big heavy ones and we only wanted them to go one at a time. Both of them are back in place like in four and half weeks. So that was fantastic.

    Marcella's Appliance Center
I needed a new washer and dryer. The closet that they needed to go in was small, but I wanted a full size frontloader system. The sales person helped me measure and came up with several really good options. He sent me home with information to read over and helped me confirm my own measurements and choices. The delivery people were prompt, clean and pleasant. They did a great job setting the new and removing the old, even though the space was limited. There was no damage to any of the walls or doors. My washer and dryer are perfect! This was my second major purchase from Marcella's. I purchased a refrigerator and stove about a year ago. A different sales person assisted me, but the experience was the same. Patient, informative and helpful. AND, locally owned Marcella's prices were lower than the big box stores.
