  • Great! We were redoing our powder room and had another contractor demo the old finishes. When looking to put it back together, we first needed a new floor. We wanted to do a marble basketweave over a traditional mud job. I found De Leo Tile on Angie's List and asked if he was familiar/comfortable with working in old houses, and familiar with what we wanted. Davide is great to work with. He walked us through the whole process. We purchased the tile we liked and he was able to get the new floor in and grouted in a tight timeline before the holidays. The installation took a few days and the finished product looks great. We will definitely use De Leo Tile again for any tile needs in our house.

  • I've used De Leo tile before, after finding them on Angie's List. Davide is an expert at his craft, we have an old house where nothing is straight, plumb or level and he was able to make it look like that wasn't the case. On the tub surround, we had a creative border pattern we worked together on figuring what would be the best layout. We also wanted to do a mosaic floor over electric radiant heat, something the manufacturer doesn't usually recommend, but Davide's recommendation on installation had us happy we made the choice. His eye for detail pointed out the marble saddle we had made hadn't been polished correctly, something we wouldn't have noticed or been able to fix had he not mentioned it. We purchased all the tile and Davide was able to work around our construction schedule for install, coming back a few times to do the prep, install and then grout/finish. As we have more tile projects in the house, you can bet we'll be calling De Leo Tile to do it!

  • The marble came in at about half the price of other providers.  The owner did a great job of trying to help me match the existing marble surrounds.  The templator came twice to make sure it was the right size after some issue with the the surrounding carpentry work by a separate contractor.  They did not charge extra for installation difficulty which was told to me beforehand might be a possibility.  The only issue came up during installation when the pieces were uneven due to uneveness in the underlying floor (the marble was fine). The solution was easy (some wood shims underneath) but there was some hesitation to do it (kept telling me nothing could be done) until told to by my architect, then was done quickly and was fine.  Providers wereprompt, emailed and gave a copy of all estimates, kept appointments, and was very, very professional for this relatively small job.  Thanks

  • Debbie was very professional in our initial meetings. She was not pushy and really took the time to listen to what we wanted. She made great suggestions that were very economical and in line with what we wanted. Her crew was polite and clean and they finished on time. A few days after our kitchen floor was finished a delivery man from the store where we bought our new dryer, dropped the dryer off his dolly and scratched the floor. Debbie  sent someone out immediately to repair the scratch. Which is much more than I can say for the appliance company, who we had to hound for the check to cover the damages!

  • The project started out like a dream match between us and the owner, Bill. He had great ideas, was great to work with, and was generous with his time in preparation for our renovation. He sold the job because we had complete faith and trust in him and his ability to deliver the project (that he designed) from start to finish. His price seemed fair and included materials, and labor..
    I was most happy about the fact that he was the designer/builder and I only had one company to work with thereby avoiding the pitfalls that often come with finger pointing and delays among contractors with the homeowner stuck in the middle of a job gone wrong and/or needless delays.
    Bill brought his contractor to meet us the week before the start of the job. He promised that he had sat down with the team and that they knew exactly what and how the project was designed and would be done. However, that was not the case. We had so much go wrong; and the reason was that Bill basically excused himself from the project and never set foot into our home during or after the renovation. The tile on the walls in our bathrooms was not laid with the design Bill and I had discussed. The reason was that Bill and his contractor actually never did discuss Bill's design. We had moved out for the first month to facilitate construction so we weren't there to oversee the work. We expected that Bill and the labor he provided were in sync, as promised.
    He also initially failed to order one of the kitchen cabinets which delayed the job; ordered the wrong toilets which were installed by the construction crew and blamed me for not being there to notice that the toilets were wrong and for "not taking responsibility" when things went wrong. His refusal to replace the toilets with the ones I clearly ordered (written records available) resulted in my finally agreeing split the cost for the toilets I originally ordered - on top of the price I paid for them in the first place.
    A frosted french door with 15 glass panes was delivered with 3 of the panes on the wrong side. While Bill/Dina Lumber delivered many of the supplies piecemeal, he insisted that the construction crew make trips to his place in the Bronx because he said he only delivers once. However, everything wasn't available at once. Each time the contractor went back and forth between Westchester and the Bronx to pick up supplies and materials I lost their function at my home.
    There is much more to report, including the fact that the kitchen faucet we selected with Bill was too tall to fit in the space between our counter top and cabinet. We didn't know that, but Bill should have. Another delay, more aggravation..
    In the end, I became my own purchasing agent because I had enough.
    It took almost 6 months to get this job done. Bill/Dina Lumber blamed the problems on the contractor (the one he selected) and on us changing and adding items. In fact, we came across some of the usual need for changes that occur during construction renovations but the problems, delays and aggravation we encountered would have been avoided had Bill/Dina Lumber continued to manage the project.
    On one occasion well into the project, Bill actually told me that none of the problems we were having resulted from him because this was not a Design/Build. To the contrary, that was exactly what it was, but at some point Bill/Dina Lumber opted out the build stage of the project. Our contractor (the contractor provided by Dina Lumber) and Dina Lumber were often at odds with us stuck in the middle. The renovation was aggravating and unnecessarily drawn out which made living at home almost unbearable.
    The Bill/Dina Lumber we contracted with was not the Bill we got once the project got started. Just be very careful.
