Landscaping reviews in Skaneateles

We recently completed construction on a new home. Mike met with us to review what our goals and expectations were for our landscaping and to review the property. Over the following week he designed a plan and reviewed this with us, in person. He showed us pictures of every plant and provided us with the rationale behind every selection. He and his crew completed the job in 2 days. After the job was completed, Mike met with us a THIRD time to review what each plant was and provided us with a "cheat sheet" on how to care for and when to prune each plant if we wanted to do it ourselves. He doesn't overcomplicate the landscaping and uses more mature plants which means you don't have vast areas of mulch while waiting years for the plants to grow and fill in. Overall I highly recommend this Mike and his team.

My experience with them was excellent! The guy was really nice, and he was inexpensive too. I thought, he got a really great price! He's right on time, and he's really nice. Also, he's really quick in issuing out our quote.

He did a fantastic job!!! The wall looks absolutely great, the price was by far the best and it only took him two and a half days to complete. He cleaned up after himself and graded all the landscaping around the wall.

Les and his crew did an absolutely great job. We were going back and forth trying to decide between composite and wood and he obtained multiple samples of both to help us decide. He was knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful to our decision making process.
Les' primary focus is on customer satisfaction and ensuring that he was building what we wanted. Excellent attention to detail. Willingness to go the extra step on research. Kept us informed on what was going to happen, when it was going to happen. Did what he said he was going to do. No surprises. Made sure he communicated with us on when and how work would be done. Outstanding responsiveness and follow up in communications
Work involved some customization and did a nice job presenting options and then doing the customization. Project completed on time and to quoted price.
Finished product is a deck constructed from Ipe wood and it is spectacular and we are thrilled with out choice and his work. Can't ask for more than someone who is honest and cares about doing quality work and pleasing customer. Will absolutely use again for other home improvement projects.

Estimate for landscaping including the weeding, edging and mulching of many large and small flower beds, creation/extension of a bed around the new deck area. Reasonable. Gave quote and estimate within 3 days. Once job confirmed, the stated 6 weeks of scheduling was exactly on time with confirmation by phone. Work done over 3 days - cleaned up after themselves. Very nice landscaping and so fast.

Our experience with Landscapes East was first rate from start to finish.  We couldn't be more pleased with the final result and recommend this company highly.
We researched several landscaping companies before settling on Landscapes East.  We met with Paul to discuss the project because we liked the examples we saw on their website.  He was both friendly and professional as he asked a lot of questions about what we wanted to do and the look we wanted to achieve.
After our time sitting around the kitchen table he spent over an hour measuring out the site, making notes and taking pictures.  A few days late Paul returned with a proposal.  His plan very well captured what we were looking for.
I liked the fact that he was flexible and proposed several options depending on our budget.  We decided to focus on the stone wall, patio, steps, pergola and landscape lighting and to forgo redoing the landscaping for now.
Paul gave us an estimated start date (that turned out to be accurate) a couple of months off.  We communicated by email a couple of times in the interim to refine the plans.  A week or so before the work started he called to confirm the start date.
Tom and Charlie were the crew on this job.  I don't know how many other folks work for Paul, but you won't go wrong if you get these fellows.  They're multi-talented, hardworking craftsmen whose skills are magnified by the quality of the equipment they have available.  On our relatively small job (an entrance way) they delivered the field stone, crusher-run gravel, sand, river stone and steps using a dump truck towing the front end loader and skidder they used.
In the first day they completed the basic excavation, placed the geotextile and first layer of gravel for the patio base and, most impressive to me, completed the extension of the dry lay wall.  This was impressive to me for a couple of reasons.
First, I've built some dry lay walls myself (including the one they were completing) so I have a keen appreciation of the work involved. It would have taken me a couple of weeks to do what he did in one day.
Secondly, they blended the new work in perfectly - you can't tell where the old wall ends and the completion wall begins.  Tom accomplished this by starting with stone that was a good match, then disassembling part of the old wall before rebuilding it interspersing stones from the old wall with the new.
Their attention to detail was exceptional.  For example they used a laser transit to pitch the patio, heavily compacting each layer as they laid it down.  The power compactor they used is another example of the quality equipment they bring to bear.  I've seen professions tamp a base using a hand-tamper.  It's an accepted practice for light-scale jobs.  The next step up is the type of power compactor you might get from a rental place.  They're very effective, and in fact Tom and Charlie had one of those to do compacting in areas where they needed to be more mobile.  For the patio, they used a massive power compactor.  4 strong men couldn't lift it (the guys used the front end loader to get it on and off the truck).  When they first fired it up, I was sitting in a chair on the other side of the house and could feel the vibration.  I'm extremely confident the patio isn't going to shift anytime soon.
I could go on at length, but I think you get the idea.  The design met our specifications, the project started as promised, the workers were friendly, professional, hard-working and meticulous, the job site was kept neat and the final project was even better than we hoped it would be.

Great job. We needed both excavation and landscape last time. Both jobs done when they were supposed. Timely. Landscaping included weeding, edging, mulching, planting trees. The first time he worked for us he built us our Mickey mouse pond and then when it came to landscaping he put the plants in such a way to also represent Mickey's head. It was all his idea and he knew what he was doing. Easy to contact and discuss all plans. The second job included excavation for an addition. He was careful of the septic system and was mindful of the current landscape. Great guy and company.

I am handicapped and was in an electric scooter. As soon as I entered the garden area Sandy approached me and offered assistance. She was fun and knowledgeable. She went out of her way to assist me and get me everything I needed. Caylee and Alicia (?) at check out were also helpful. Caylee and Sandy helped me out to the car and loaded is for me. I was amazed at how fast I was in and out. I would not go anywhere else for lawn and garden. They were fabulous.

Mike is fabulous! He came in and fixed our gabion baskets which were threatening to tumble down. He knew exactly what he was doing and did the work properly. No shortcuts! We also had areas of poor drainage which were always soggy. He fixed those. Replaced rotting railroad ties with landscape stone and rocks for out driveway and landscaping. Everything looks spectacular. Mike went out of his way to not damage the lawn and landscaping with his big equipment. He left the site looking better than it ever has. I don't believe I have ever met a person, let alone contractor, that I trust more than Mike! If he says he and his crew can do something -- trust that he will do it right and you will love the results!

Owner Mike Legnetto was phenomenal. He wasn't the least expensive - but he was the one with the best plan to correct our situation. He worked with us from start to finish making sure we got the appropriate permits and approvals and then working with everyone to make sure that the results were more than we expected. Mike is extremely honest and will tell you if he can or cannot do something. If he says he can -- trust him. Even our Town codes enforcement officer and building permit board members were impressed.
