Dr. Nizom at Northeast Medical Center took a lot of interest in my wife's needs, took a lot of time with her above and beyond, and his communication is excellent.

    Edison, Dr. Scott A.
He is excellent and I've used him before. He is friendly and does a good job. He goes out of his way to make sure that I feel comfortable. I feel good with him. He has been available every 5 years for me. He is very busy and I have to make my appointment at least 3 or 4 months ahead of time. He services a large number of people. I am sure he would be there for an emergency. His bedside manner is very, very good. I would not have anybody else. The office environment is very good. I have had no problems with his communication; he is very good. The billing experience was good as I didn't have to pay anything. After a couple of years I will be calling him again.

I arrived 90 minutes after my appointment time due to my own scheduling error. I offered to reschedule on another day but the receptionist was very friendly and said they would fit me in. I was seated only about 5 minutes when my name was called. The nursing staff was very friendly and with a good sense of humor. Dr. Heisig was very professional, communicated clearly, was not rushed and my time with him was very relaxed. I left the consultation well informed for my upcoming procedure.

I had part of my colon removed as a result of the diverticulitis/fistula connecting the colon to the bladder. The rather complicated laparoscopic surgery took 4 hours, there were no complications so far (6 months) and the performance of this doctor and of the entire team including the hospital staff   was excellent. After 4 days in hospital i was at home. During the entire time she was helpful, knowledgeable and responsive to me and to my relatives.

    Edison, Dr. Scott A.
I called Dr. Edison's office to ask if there was a less violent laxative to take. No answer. I called to ask if I could have a virtual colonoscopy. No answer. I went to my appointment, having complied with the pre-op instructions. I arrived at the outpatient place with terribly cramping intestines. The room I was in when I was given anesthesia was bitterly cold. I asked for another blanket, but it wasn't a blanket that could provide any warmth. When I woke, Dr Edison said that he had been unsuccessful in getting my colon to relax enough to get a good look, that I would have to have a catscan colonoscopy. A week later, I also asked for some less violent laxatives. No answer. The colon inflation with gas during the catscan is also very uncomfortable, and last a long time. My questions about how the images had looked after this procedure were also not answered, by phone or mail, even though I called at least three times. I would not go to him or anyone he practices with, ever again.

The colonoscopy, doctor, and staff involved in the procedure were great. The issue was with the billing department and the followup with the Dr's Assistant. My insurance covers 100% for the procedure. The office staff refused to accept this. I even took my insurance policy -- the whole 85 pages into them. The coverage section was only two sentences long for procedure, and very straightforward. I was told that, "yes, that's what it says, but it's not what it means" by two people there. . Mins. after that, during my app't. w/ the Phys. A**'t, I attempted to discuss findings, and the A**'t told me to shutup. I would only go back if the "back office" and the one Assistant were gone. This was my second colonoscopy at this establishment.

I woke up during the proceedure and the assistant tried to restrain me because the doctor could have punctured the colon. I was told on a follow-up appointment that I threatened to kill the doctor. I didn't remember that but I did remember waking during the proceedure and the nurse attempting to restrain me. Good luck with that. I'm 6'4and quot; and more than 250 LBS. At the time of the proceedure, an anesthesiologist was not required by NYS. They are required by law to attend the proceedure today. Needless to say, I haven't returned for another colonoscopy. I was tramatized.
