    My cat was holding himself in strangely and making a lot of noise.  The vet thought he must have injured himself and sent him home with medication for that.  That didn't help at all, and after bringing him back and answering some more questions, she determined that he was blocked, meaning he couldn't pass urine.  A misdiagnosis is certainly understandable; but the answers to the questions on the second trip were the same as the first trip.  And after learning about urinary obstruction, I found out that he had all the symptoms of being blocked, and that being completely blocked can kill a cat in 3 - 6 days. 
    My main reason for giving a 'fair' rating instead of good or excellent is that the vet made excuses that didn't ring true. If she had just apologized and said something honest, like "these things can be hard to diagnose" or something like that, I would have left with a better opinion.  
    We had a second bad experience in my family.  My daughter moved up from FL with a dog she had recently adopted from a shelfter, a dog with multiple health problems, and which was in the middle of being treated for heartworm.  She was following the instructions of the vet in FL, which included following up with a vet in NY.  The Grady vet obviously didn't agree with the FL vet's treatment plan, but he and his staff went further and treated my daughter as if she doesn't care about her dog, which couldn't be farther from the truth.  He could have even checked with the FL vet, if he thought she was lying, which is how they made her feel.  
    If cost is the most important thing to you, you'll like this vet a lot.  We also want to be treated with honesty and respect.

    Dr. Brown was recommended to us by a friend who is passionate about her dogs. He has treated our dog for the last six months and we have found him to be a wonderful veterinarian.
    Dr. Brown always treats our dog with exceptional care and concern. He is extremely knowledgeable, informative, pleasant and patient. Dr. Brown's support staff members are consistently friendly and helpful. As importantly, fees are fair and reasonable as compared to others in the area.
    We feel fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Brown's office and look forward to his continued care of our dog.

    There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for why a client is kept waiting for over 40 mins for Dr Starr to keep his appointment (or to even show up on time) without a good reason.  Dr. Starr is notorious for being repeatedly tardy for appointment (and I am talking at least 40 min wait period with no apologies or price adjustments).  It is beyond ridiculious that the bill for my healthy dog's annual exam and vaccines cost approximately $400.  I do feel Dr. Starr is very knowledgeable in his field and knows what he is talking about but when he speaks it is like he is on auto-pilot (same spiel for everyone as if he is reading from a script).  The only reason I continued to go to this practice was out of local convenience and not wanting to research other vets (I have since switched vets); the final straw was when my dog and I were waiting in the waiting room and we were waiting for Dr. Starr to show up and there was another client ahead of us.  Completely unprofessional.

    There was a and quot;new to meand quot; vet that provided service to my cats this year. I've been going to this establishment for at least 12 years, have had several cats treated by several vets there. This new vet gave a much less hands-on, involved examination than Dr. Hamilton or the other young woman vet used to do. We brought both our older cats in for checkup prior to acquiring a new cat that was rescued from our own back yard. The vet was informed of this. The checkup was cursory in my opinion - a lot of focus on changing to a grain-free cat food to help the older (now mostly sedentary) cats lose weight, but little other commentary.
    When we brought the new cat in for his checkup (having been neutered and tested for FiV, FiL through a clinic) to make sure there were no additional health concerns, the vet did not specifically recommend any tests or do anything beyond a very cursory check of the cat; we were advised the new cat was about 1.5 years old. After a month of being on dry food (transitioned from wet food when cat was being socialized enough to rescue from the and quot;wildsand quot; of suburbia) the new cat was still having diarrhea, so we had a fecal sample tested by the hospital. The animal hospital left a voice mail indicating the sample showed hookworms, and to call for an appointment for treatment. We immediately called and got an appointment although we were not advised what the treatment was at that time we made the appointment. When we arrived at the animal hospital, a technican took the cat and gave it a pill. That's all. There was no discussion with us as the pet owners about the condition, possible side affects, long-term prognosis, expected future treatments, no suggestion this was OTC medication, no suggestion of precautions or testing for other cats in the household. Until we raised a fuss, there was not going to be any communication with us, just shove a pill down the cat. This is not what I expect from my veterinarian. This is not the level of involvement I want for the care of my pets. Staff may have been distracted by bad outcomes with other pets on one visit, but I expect full attention to the pet currently being treated.

    COUNTRYSIDE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
    I took my cat in for a routine, yearly check-up. The staff was very friendly when checking in and got me into a room right away. There was only one veterinarian in that day, but the supporting vet techs were able to take care of the preliminary work. Everything went smoothly and they even called to check in the next day and make sure my cat was doing all right. It was pretty expensive, but most veterinary care is so I still give this place an "A."
