Rich & Tom's Ground To Chimney
The racoon mother retrieved 4 of her babies, but 2 were left. They responded quickly the next day and contacted a rescue group who came immediately and retrieved the final 2 babies. Everyone was extremely pleasant to work with. We were very satisfied.

Animal Care and Control of NYC
This dog is the greatest dog ever. There are so many wonderful animals at this shelter. The animals have been through so much and they need TLC because they have been through a lot. But once they have adjusted, they can blossom into wonderful pets. When you adopt from here, you are taking a pet off of death row. They also have a bank in Brooklyn and Staten Island for the same shelter.

    JERSEY SHORE ANIMAL CENTER
They are very thorough and offer a very good service. I have also had friends adopt pets from Jersery Shore Animal Center. I really like that they do background checks and make sure that the individuals adopting the animals are taking their pets to veterinarian visits regularly.

    NEW ROCHELLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL
New Rochelle Animal Hospital is a no kill shelter. They gave me a list of free spaying. I love them. Their facility is clean and the animals are well taken care off much better than at other shelters. They were good. Cleanliness stands out. I can't stand when you go to shelters and they small and are not clean. All the animals are clean and well cared for. It is almost like a home environment for the animals. They have volunteers who pick up the animals. It is what to me a shelter should be. Their price is fair for what they do. I don't have any complaints. I had no problems with them. I would go back if I needed to adopt and I would recommend people to go there.

    NOAH'S ARK PET CLINIC
I was actually invited to a tricky tray by a friend of mine who had adopted somebody from NOAH’S ARK.   The people I met there were wonderful.  I was looking to add a cat to my household.  In the tricky tray they had a number of little pieces on a board as to who is available.  They were very nice in explaining all the pros and cons of some of these cats that they knew and I went over to the shelter and they were really nice.  They took me on a tour of the whole place.  They didn’t bring the animal out to me they allowed me to go in and see where everybody was and things like that.  It wasn’t a secret visit.  They allowed me to go through and see some of the other animals.  They had a lot of trainers who were socializing the animals and playing with them.  We get a better feel of what each one was and they weren’t pushy.  They were very nice as far as making sure the pet goes to the right home to.  They were very good in that way.

    Friends of Randolph Animal Pound
They were very thorough in their adoption process in figuring where the animals had to be placed and which ones should go where.  They knew the animal’s personality and they fit the animal with the person.

One cat the female CeCe is not a wallflower anymore.  At first, she would  always hide under the bed.  And I coaxed her out with my voice, brushing her gently and petting her.  She had to jump on the bed for me to do this, which she did occasionally and when she did, she loved the attention!  She is now quite comfortable and owns this one bedroom apartment. A real, Queen of Sheba.  I am looking around the apartment living room and I just know she's watching, "Window TV." Window TV is when she sits on the window sill and looks outside, and sees all kinds of critters(birds, chipmunks and the such) windy leaves, things that move and rays of sun to bask in :-) However, she also sleeps in many positions and right now, she is not watching Window TV, but curled up in a ball sleeping on the top of our love seat.  Guess who else is there, on the cushions? Smith, our male feral cat that we received from Ann at Sound Earth.  He can get quite feisty, but now there's no story to tell but that Smith is asleep! Thank you Ann for our two new family members. My husband and I are just bedazzled by them. They are like calm babies now, just ate, but do the things cats do like knocking things over, playing and Meowing for their meals!! They are beautiful grey and brown tiger cats which Ann brought over herself to inspect the surroundings.  Everything was to her and our liking.  We have 2 new family members, thank you Sound Earth!

    ASPCA
I have had experience with ASPCA where I adopted the pets. I had a good experience with them. As a matter of fact I support them and I am a member and I contribute to them on a monthly basis. I think they do a good job or at least they try to. When I went there to adopt these 2 cats and I adopted another pet from them. We always go to the shelter. It is a clean environment. They try to make sure that the animals are up to date on the shots. They give you time to have your own veterinarian look at them. If there is any problem they try to follow up with you. They show real interest in not only the animal but in who is taking them home. It is the ASPCA bird hospital. They have the shelter and they also have the bird institute hospital there. That's part of the building. They have veterinarians. They will screen the animals and check their health. They give them any shots that they need. I am assuming that's how they do it. The cost was in the range of what the other veterinarians are charging. They are competitive with everybody else in comparison. The quality was very good. They took very good care of my animal and it was very clean. They are very responsive to you when you come in and responsive to your pet. They were pretty much on time. They are very professional. I live near the Bronx, we are New Yonkers, it is a bit of difficult to get to them. When my brother is available he will drive me down. It is hard to park in Manhattan. That's the only thing that's difficult about it. As far as the care goes it is very good.

    Petfinder.com
Using Petfinder I found my first cat in April, 2010. She came from the Rockaway Animal Hospital in Rockaway NJ. She caught my eye, we bonded and home she came. In May 2010 I went online again and saw a kitten sponsored by K.I.S.S. (Kitties in need of someone special) from Hopatcong NJ. When I went to see that kitten in person, she ignored me completely; there was no chemistry. But the little guy in the next cage was a charmer. He joined the family. In December 2012 we were looking for a dog.We found him, again, on Petfinder from a place called Double Dog Rescue in Connecticut. Each experience was different, but good. All three rescue groups had different requirements for vetting potential owners and cost, but all quite reasonable.
